Agreed, but I still think we are favourites. RBT got thrashed by the Rockets and we are just coming off a huge victory. If we can repeat a similar performance like the last match I believe we'll win comfortably.

"Battle of Bengals"

This will be really interesting.
I remember the days in the late eighties when Abahani, Mohamedan was involved in asian club tournament with east bengal, Mohanbaghan and kolkatha Mohamedan. But that was football.
Is this the biggest stage where two teams from both side of bengals competing in a cricket match. (legal or illegal league)

GO Dhaka Warriors! I don't know about you guys, but I for one am quite excited by the recent win. The formation of Dhaka Warriors is one of the best things to occur for the BD fans.

They are the pretenders, we are the real Tigers.

Look at their team, its full of non-bengali players.
Look at ours? its ONLY Bangali players.

Dhaka V Calcutta.

Long live Momen Munna's legacy.

In 1991/92 I met some bangali students from kolkata in US. They were like wow!! First Abahani then he was a one man show in the backfield for BD. But later I think he played for Mohanbagan as the best midfielder they ever saw. Won their league because of him. Just the same feeling watching the current Indian captain. A class above the rest.

He was a genuine midfielder & a star in both bangla.

I think we should play Shishir instead of Karim this time. And as I mentioned earlier if we can repeat a similar performance to the last match then I believe we'll win comfortably.

And some of you might find this interesting, If we win this match and maintain our current NRR we'll go 3rd in the table.

Monem Munna is my hero TE bhai......

A correction, he played for East-Bengal club. Yes, He played in the mid-field and made them champion. He is a super-hero to the East-Bengal supporter.
When Munna was ill, East-Bengal arranged a charity match against MohanBagan for Funding of Munna's treatment. The Kolkata salt-lake stadium was full with Hundred thousand people then.

I also remember the days of 94-95 foot-ball season when we used to go to Dhaka stadium just to see Munna play. He had such skills and personality in the field that we just used to see him with and without the ball.....A great player.

May Allah bless our "King Back" MUNNA.

When East meets West

A treat is in store for all the residents of affluent Bengal cities of Dhaka and Kolkata. It doesn’t matter if they are on two different sides of the border because that’s the magic of the ICL which transcends all national boundaries.

The Dhaka Warriors take on the second placed and ever hungry Royal Bengal Tigers. The Bengal Tigers haven’t really put a foot wrong since the start of the tournament, except for the lone defeat to the Ahmedabad Rockets. On the other hand, the Dhaka Warriors did raise a few eyebrows by tumbling the Delhi Giants and showed that they are no pushover.

For Habibul Bashar and his boys, the momentum is starting to flow, and they need to capitalize upon it. But the Craig McMillan led side will be disappointed on losing their first place spot, and would be itching to get it back. McMillan would like to put that disastrous last game behind his team. It was as if no one told the Rockets they were facing the table toppers, and Goodwin and Campbell battered the Tigers’ bowling to all parts of the ground, much to the entertainment of the home crowd.

For the Warriors, they would be hoping that the likes of Shahriar Nafees and Nazimudin provide the fiery start that they did against the Giants. The Warriors are not short of experience on any hand, with the lineup boasting of all-rounder veteran Alok Kapali, batting stalwart Habibul Bashar, veteran spinner and hard hitter Mohd. Rafique and all- rounder Aftab Ahmed.

The Tigers certainly have their work cut out for them. None the less, they have a trump card in the form of Abu Nechim who has picked up 20 wickets in the 20 – 20’s Championship. They also have had good starts at the top of the order with the likes of Rohan Gavaskar, Hamish Marshall, Lance Klusener and captain courageous Craig Mcmillan having scored 545 runs in all.

Either ways it is a mouth watering clash, as we witness two Bengal giants battling it out to establish more than just Bengal supremacy. Whichever way you might want to look at it, the thought which resonates across Dhaka and Kolkata is “Amar Shonar Bangla”.

- Akshobh Giridharadas

If you don't have it you can watch it live online. Get high quality streaming from www.bollywood.tv, www.glutv.com, www.mypopkorn.com and www.watchindiatv.com. They are all free but you must register to watch.

If you want to watch without registration then go to www.acricket.com, they stream it unofficially though.

Cricinfo: It's the battle of Bengal. Royal Bengal Tigers, from Kolkata, started the ICL's second season with a bang, winning three games on the trot, but suffered a ten-wicket mauling at the hands of the Ahmedabad Rockets in their previous game. Not very far from Kolkata is Dhaka, and the Warriors would be looking to continue from their win over the Delhi Giants, having lost their first two games.

10.5 Singh to Kapali, SIX!!, flat and short on the middle and leg, Kapali rocks back and picks it up cleanly, gets under it nicely, swatted over deep mid wicket for a biggie, wonderful hit, amazing!

Thats what I am talking about.

A straight 6 by Kapali, he might become the MVT you know!

12.5 Singh to Kapali, SIX!!, floated up on the stumps, Kapali comes down the track and gets good hold of that one, just a firm punch and it sails over the sightscreen for a big six, absolutely incredible, how did it go the distance!

I haven't seen all the ICL matches so I can't comment. But out of all the shots I have seen in ICL hands down this is the best.

Dean Jones' comment really struck me he said, what an injustice it is that a player of his calibre isn't playing international cricket.

I really hope a solution can be found so that Alok can return to the team ASAP, we can't afford to lose a talent like him
