well, if SL pounds zimbabwe, and we beat SL marginally...net run rates could give us the tie breaker.

Isn't it better for Bangladesh if Zim beat SL regardless? Then any win over SL (not thinking about net run rate) would see Bangladesh progress.

i wonder if zimbabwe's batting can chase down this total as in their last series against Sri Lanka they bowled Sri Lanka out cheaply but then failed with the bat.

Orpheus
January 11, 2009, 11:47 PM
yeah Zimbabwe batting is what concerns me too. Hopefully zimbabwe can win this. Then all BD needs is a win againt SL and we win the world cup.

Sri Lanka 174 for 6 in the 46th over.

Waiting for the "Sri Lanka could score only this many against Zimbabwe, so it was alright for us to lose" posts.

Buddhika_s
January 12, 2009, 01:38 AM
we suck big time lol

but Mathews I always knew he'd come good at last, only it's zimbabwe. he's good, can bat anywhere in the top order and can bowl fast medium. but we still suck.

This is an improvement compared to the last three matches in Zimbabwe :) But the SL bowling is too good for Zim. If you had rested one of the Ms, it could have been trouble

Bowling is not a worry man, we probably have the best bowlers in the world and that's the reason we have won most of our matches lately. I knew the batting won't be so smooth coming into this game but another repeat of what happened in Zimbabwe? I really hope we won't play Zimbabwe for a long *** time. Did you see how Sanga and Mahela got out? They looked like complete jokes.

Bowling is alright, I mean we are doing well even without Vaas and Malinga. Maharoof hasn't played much lately but we've done well. Even Nuwan "line and length but no pace" Kulasekara proving to be useful with him being the 3rd highest wicket taker among all international bowlers last year just behind Mendis and Murali. Hope we can get them out cheap.

Good for us. We don't have to beat SL by a huge margin.

maehara
January 12, 2009, 06:29 AM
Batting lets us down as usual. :( Makes life a little easier for BD, though - "just" need a win over SL and you're through to the final, by my reckoning...

January 12, 2009, 09:18 AM
wow if SL makes 80, we will 60 against SL. SHooot!!! God bless us.

Nah - the BD batting lineup isn't as prone to complete collapse as ours is. I'm going to have a nervous few hours tomorrow morning...

Seriously, Sanga and Mahela should be dropped. If you look at it, they are the weakest links.

i think they're struggling with the wicket. i was surprised they dropped dilshan. he was in good form. thankfully sri lanka has an excellent bowling line up.
