View Full Version : Mashrafe scare for Tigers

An injury to pace ace Mashrafe Bin Mortaza gave a scare to the Bangladesh team ahead of their all-important Grameenphone Tri-nation Cup final against Sri Lanka today.
But after a scan on the injured left knee at a local hospital immediately after he complained, it looks as if Bangladesh could well go into the match with Mashrafe taking the new ball.
"The scan revealed no serious damages but there was swelling in the left knee. He has been asked to ice the area and hopefully he will be ready for tomorrow (Friday)," informed chief selector Rafiqul Alam last night.
During the last practice session at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium nets in Mirpur, Mashrafe stopped halfway through his run-up and complained of pain on his left knee. After the team physiotherapist Michael Henry took a look, he was immediately taken for the scan.
The Narail Express has been outstanding with ball and bat in the past twelve months and the Tigers would sorely miss him if the injury does not improve and he fails the fitness test this morning.

This is the last thing we wanted. Hopefully he will feel better soon and play tomorrow.

For a bowler, what more do you ask for?

Thats from last 12 months. What more do you want from a bowler? How many batsmen averaged 17 in Test in lat 1 year?

Miraz,

I was counting minutes and praying quietly not hear anything like this before this all important match. But unfortunately Murphy's Law always works for me. Anyway, that's what life is all about and that's what is reality.

Hope, the injury is not serious and we will see Mash in action in the Final.

speaking of mash being a tiger....didnt Tiger Woods win some kinda PGA championship with broken limb?

here's my twisted cynical question to y'all: Would you pray for Mash's speedy recovery if it wasn't for 'using' him in our team?

Really hope he's healthy and good to go for today's game. Without him, we'll leak at least 15 extra runs and won't get wickets in the first 10 overs.
