Just found that Mash is now 8th on ICC ODI Bowlers' rankings. Hoping that these positive signs continue. We are slowly being blessed with a few consistent match turning players.

The only area where I observed improvement in Mash was length. He is placing the ball at right length at will. This skill improves with more matches & we had back to back series for the last few months against good opposition. This is why he was not taken to the cleaners this time.

He's gonna need more and regular match practice to keep the skill up. Speed, swing, variation and line were always there in Mashrafee's bowling. He struggled to find length in the past, sometime with dire consequences, specially in death overs. This time he was refreshingly accurate with his length.

i hope mash can learn to reverse swing and bowl effectively with the old ball. that would make him even better.

It wouldn't be an Understatement to call him the best New Ball Bowler in the world, Def in the Top 10.

I would say he's better than Zaheer and Ishant with the new ball but what they can do with the old ball he can't.

Ash did a good job finishing he's spell during the middle overs vs Lanka. (Didn't follow the Zimbabwe matches)

What only gonna make him better is getting a little healthy and keeping him a little grumpy.

these are now two amazing players - they both better get bought in the ipl with their absurdly cheap prize tags

their price tags are WAY too cheap. they will definitely play in IPL because of their low prices though mash and shakib will both get chances to play. this is not good for these two especially according to the recent performances

mashuallah MAshrafe. hope his performances improve.
the main problem with BAngladeshi bowlers is that they bowl too short like shahadat. and its good to see that MAsh was able to prevent that from happening to him. he just needs to learn how to bowl with the old ball. i am a die-hard Bangladeshi fan but i still think that Ishant SHarma bowls better then Mashrafe. Ishant is also fairly new. He debut in test matches agaisnt Bangladesh in the first test right after the world cup. he didnt get any wickets then thoupgh. he also missed a what was supposed to be a clean catch of of RAjin Salen. Rajin SAleh got out at the next delivery and Tendulkar caught it that time.
Best of Luck Mashrafe.

FErnando from Sri Lanka is a great bowler too. did u guys see when he got Junaid Siddique bowled him out in the first innings of the second test. that was a lovely bowled out. it was a yorker that just curved thorugh the air. excellent. i would like to see something like that from Mashrafe.

I think it is an insult that Mash is going for 50,000. And Shakib at 75,000? Silliness...
One can only conclude that the prices are based on "marketability" of a player, and not purely cricketing talent.

If I were setting prices, I would add a few zeroes to these numbers: Shakib @ $750,000 and Mash at $500,000 !!! :flag:

this whole ICL business was probably created by the Indians just to attract the BD players and mess up the team. this is to get revenge from BD because India lost against them which was very humilating to them. IPL is also doing the same. IPL is runned by indians and they arent giving the BD players a high value just because they are from BD

HOw come the list doesnt include any indian players? or they in the team for granted. watch the indians value is likely to surpass that of R pointing.

MAsh and shakib deserves much more money

mortaza is ranked this high because he just destroyed zim. i doubt he can do the same against big teams. i think he needs to increase on his average bowling speed by around 4 mph. if he does increase his spead and maintains his line and length i think he can remain in the ODI top ten rankings.

Mortaza should have been around $75k and ashraful should have been around $60k for the IPL base price and shakib's base price should be around $80k

IPL is over hyped because there's lot of money envolved and all the world class players are signing for IPL. normally cricket doesnt envolve this much money.

i dont really care about the base prices atleast some of our players made it in to the auction. if any temas take them i dont think they will be a regular in the team.

IPL still is slightly over Hyped

February 3, 2009, 01:32 PM
Mashrafee found back little bit rhythm (length wise) but as we all know he is injury prune. We need to take care of him, he is the only bowler who can serve the country like Imran, Botham, Kalis did for their respective countries. If he remains fit and can serve few more years he will be a very valuable member of our national team.

I hope based on this record that Mash gets auctioned in the IPL, but IMO, he is going very cheaply.
Other players from England, Australia and WI who have no good record are fetching a better price. these Indians are shameless for placing such low prices on their fellow Asians.

but he bowled at bangladesh and he is in good form. if he went outside of southasia he wont be as effective.

mortaza should have had a base price of around £75k. i dont think he will be as effective in 20/20 becuase he hasnt got a lot variation of speed and length.

Only 200 wickets? I don't get this guy.
ATMR shaheb ki ar korben...Mash is getting injured almost every year...and as he mentioned how many times we get to bowl second time in tests...I think if he continues playing for the country atleast 6 to 7 more years he can easily get that in ODI, but not sure how he will achieve that target in test. Even he ages or reduce his speed, he should stay with the team as a third pacer (Chacha did why not him). But his presence sometimes really boost BD performance. I hope other players also start performing like him and then we will see not only ranking improvements but overall team's success.

Indians hate the BD players because BD beat them in the WC and knocked them out of the WC. That is why India played BD right after the WOrld cup. to prove to the world that they are a better team then BD
