When asked if the early end to Bangladesh's innings worked in their favour, Mortaza said: "We were looking to bat until lunch and get a lead of about 300 or more, but we lost our last five wickets quickly.
if it was not for sammy, we would have drawn the test.
thank you.
what the heck was team management thinking?

The team management obviously were looking for a safety first approach, which is beyond me, and it was quite apparent the way they came out batting this morning. What changes over night? We were batting like gangbusters the day before post-tea. Mash didn't have to say it loud but it was obvious the way they were batting. I thought we had enough runs last night and I even thought of a super aggressive declaration scenario first thing this morning. But surely I thought, we will add quick 40-50 runs, declare and have a go at them for two and a half session in a wearing pitch. Yes, we were fortunate that Sammy derailed our plan. In the match thread I mentioned that this one has to be on Siddons. He made me very dissapointed.

losing quick wickets in quick succession was a blessing in disguise!! in test match, on most occasions you need at least 90 overs on average to bowl opposition out!!(I am being serius!)
had we lost those quick wickets yesterday when Mushy and Moyna came on to bat, we should have lost this test...(I am telling the truth!)
today, goal was to get quickfire runs in a short span of time, which many times is quite challenging to do in test cricket!

The commentators were shocked at our batting strategy early in the morning, and thank Allah that it don't come back to bite us in the butt.
I would like to thank Darren Sammy for more than one reason though.
First off, thanks for taking those quick wickets and making sure we have enough overs to get your batsmen out. Thank you.
Secondly, thanks for throwing your wicket just before tea when you looked settled with the in-form Bernard, which gave us a lot of momentum and confidence following the tea break. Thank you.

I think WICB thought they would be able to surprise us with this regular first class bunch as BD had a long gap in longer version of matches. Some of the comments in cricinfo were really disappointing. Whenever there was absolute plumb denied Cricinfo said it was not out. Whenever our batsmen got out from wrong decisions they said it looked out. Besides after the match they were in praise of WI rather than BD as how those players did not play cricket for a long time which is an utter lie instead it is vice versa as we know how much T20, IPL hype and PCL were denting our preparation for such series.
Unfortunately we need to go to cricinfo and depend on her for the latest updates and the nice articles, stats etc. which are below par even for its nearest contender cricbuzz except in the velocity of live match coverage.

definitely this was a blessing in disguise.... but had WI batsmen put their mind together we could have lost this test....
we had to risk it to win this.... and I am happy that we were forced into risking. With a lead of 300+, WI would have never gone for win, and would have been a dull drawn match....

yes, you were right, but when you neglect margin of error, my statement regarding Bangladesh losing if we lost those wickets yesterday as soon as Rahim and Shakib came onto crease is accurate.

Yes , neglecting the matgin of error and taking our stats into account, your statement would be the most likely scenerio. But untill something has absolutely happened, everything, including jumping to moon from my roof, is a probability.
Think of Schroedingers cat. You don't know either way untill it happens.
So yeah, very likely, but still not accurate. :bighug:

Exactly what I was thinking all along. You need to give the opposition a little glimpse of hope so that they go for it. It will always be a little bit risky. But because it was the 5th day, the runs were enough. The pitch obviously helped us too. They should have always opted to the quick runs strategy though. Hope this match taught them something.
...and yes, thank you very much Darren!

wat actually u mean by team management ? aint the captain, Vice captain and other 2-3 so called co captain of Bangladesh team part of team mgt ??? Players are best person to read the game perfectly, but i think, these players were not confident enough to set a target to save the game first and then go for win. In tht case, wat could other members of team mgt do ?? So to me, blame goes to all, not only takla Siddons and Priceless Hira but also the players who were in doubt abt their abilities and confidence.

they weren't thinking of winning this match for sure. if we batted 5 more overs this match would have been ended in a draw.
