We better get serious and play to our full potential.
If you win the toss, batting is a must on this pitch unless conditions change dramatically,

I really didn't understerstand hat was the need to change a winning combination before the series have been won. Now we are faced with shuffling the team again... it was same pitch we played on, why mess up something that worked....keeping wickets in hand worked last time...batting first worked last time.... what changed that we had to do so many changes apart from replacing injured nazmul??

If we had zunaid, we wouldn't need to send nayeem to open.....this is what I call... bhalo jinish bhainga tarpor thik korar chesta kora..

Bangladeshi bowling was not up to the mark in 3rd ODI. They need to find the way make bowling effective. Bangladesh has the talent to make bowling works even in flat pitch escpecially spin. Just need to use brain and try hard. Or least you can do bowl wicket to wicket -- dry up the run -- wicket must come. There was nothing wrong in batting second. We batted second in 1st ODI. As I said before no let up against this zim. Total annihilation should the only moto. No respite. Lets get them. We have better spin and batting line up.

Also make sure we lose the toss. So far whoever won the toss, lost the match!

To chase a mammoth odd 320+ they should have had an accute game plan to follow. Dropping Z was a mess to say the least. Above all, Shakib's decision to field first stunned me. You dont have to be a cricket prudent to understand the fact that it was the same flat wicket where they capitalized odd 320 while batting first the other day and it is a default choice to bat first again and again everytime you win the toss.

Hopefully they have had enough time to go back to drawing board and get their facts right before the 4th match.

Way to go Tigers! You deserve to wrap up the series with 4-1!

dropping junayed was gonna backfire, i assumed this was going to happen. Bring back zunayed, play the team in the 1st/2nd odi minus Nazmul, plus Robin. And we should be fine, we lost the game because Chigumbura scored 30 odd extra runs for zim. If we didnt give away those runs, game wudv been ours.

Zunaed back for Bangladesh
TigerCricket.com Report (http://www.tigercricket.com/viewNews.aspx?newsID=753)

Bangladesh have made one change for tomorrow's crucial 4th ODI of the Grameenphone Cup against Zimbabwe. Mehrab Hossain Jr., who played in the third match which the Tigers lost by 69 runs, makes way for opening batsman Zunaed Siddique. Bangladesh lead the five-match series 2-1.

The injury-struck Bangladesh side is still without the services of paceman Nazmul Hossain who is nursing a thigh strain. With Rubel Hossain already ruled out of the series due to a side strain Bangladesh will again rely on their only fit pacers Syed Rasel and Mahbubul Alam for early breakthroughs in tomorrow's game. Rubel's replacement Dollar Mahmud is expected in Bulawayo on the morning of the game.

"We know that we did not execute our plan well and we let our standards drop. Everyone realises that we only have ourselves to blame for the defeat on Friday. We are really focused on putting up a much improved show tomorrow," said vice captain Mushfiqur Rahim after the Bangladesh side had completed an intense training session at the Queens Sports Club today.

"The wicket is absolutely flat and there is no margin for error. The game has to be won with high intensity cricket and if you lose concentration for a few overs while fielding then the match can quickly get away from you," added Rahim.

BANGLADESH TEAM for the 4th ODI

Tamim Iqbal, Zunaed Siddique, Mohammad Ashraful, Shakib Al Hasan (Captain), Roqibul Hassan, Mushfiqur Rahim (Vice Captain/WK), Mahmud Ullah, Naeem Islam, Mahbubul Alam, Enamul Haque Jr., Syed Rasel. 12th man - Mehrab Hossain Jr.

Yes selectors are at a loss (as usual). There was absolutely no point in changing a perfectly balanced winning team for the third ODI. But idiotics got the better of the selectors. Now Junaid will be back after 5 days of rest, prob lost the form he was gaining in the first two matches already.

Zimbabwe look to level series

Match facts
Sunday August 16, 2009
Start time 09.30 (07.30 GMT)

Big Picture

Zimbabwe's comprehensive comeback win in the third ODI was the best thing that could have happened to the series. Else, the last two games would have been reduced to dead rubbers. It halted Bangladesh's seven-match winning streak and caught them in a moment of complacency. When Zimbabwe lost two early wickets, it seemed like an all too familiar story but they put the setback behind them and showed true character in amassing a total which was sure to test a team on the upswing.

On a Queens Sports Club pitch which offers little margin for error for the bowlers, it's obvious that the better batting side will win. Zimbabwe fell short while chasing 321 in the second match, still managing to fight it out till the end. They went one step further in the third, pacing the innings intelligently and not allowing the Bangladesh spinners to get on top of the them. Promoting Elton Chigumbura proved a masterstroke because he had the cushion of runs to go out there and butcher the attack. A total of 323 eased the pressure on the bowlers. With the openers gone within two overs, there seemed an air of inevitability to the result before a last-ditch effort by Mahbubul Alam gave the visitors something to cheer.

Bangladesh will look to snap out of Friday's effort and put in a better all-round performance. They dropped two crucial catches in the field, crucially letting Chigumbura off early, leaked many singles and the top order wilted too early, leaving plenty to the middle order.

"We know that we did not execute our plan well and we let our standards drop," the vice-captain Mushfiqur Rahim said after an intense training session. "Everyone realises that we only have ourselves to blame for the defeat on Friday. We are really focused on putting up a much improved show tomorrow."

Form guide
(last five matches, most recent first)
Zimbabwe - WLLWW
Bangladesh - LWWWW

Watch out for…

In a team of trigger-happy hitters, Raqibul Hasan stands out as a batsman who is prepared to drop anchor and build an innings. He showed that in the West Indies where his calm presence helped his team out of a nervy situation and seal their first ever overseas win. His 78 in the third ODI came at a decent clip but it was just his bad luck that the support from the other end wasn't as forthcoming as he would have liked.

Elton Chigumbura's savage assault was indicative of Zimbabwe's hunger to put it across to the visitors. He capitalized on the third Powerplay and Bangladesh struggled to plug the onslaught. He also took the valuable wicket of Shakib Al Hasan and edged out Hamilton Masakadza for the Man-of-the-Match award.

Team news

Bangladesh have already announced their XI for tomorrow, with the only change being the inclusion of Junaid Siddique in place of Mehrab Hossain jnr. Naeem Islam opened in the third ODI with little success, so he's likely to drop down the order to accommodate Junaid.

Bangladesh 1 Tamim Iqbal, 2 Junaid Siddique, 3 Mohammad Ashraful, 4 Shakib Al Hasan (capt), 5 Raqibul Hasan, 6 Mushfiqur Rahim (wk), 7 Mahmudullah, 8 Naeem Islam, 9 Mahbubul Alam, 10 Enamul Haque jnr., 11 Syed Rasel

Zimbabwe are yet to announce their XI, but it won't be surprising if they stick to their winning combination. Their top scorer in the second game, Sean Williams, missed the third, so there's a case for his inclusion. He could replace Vusi Sibanda, who was out for a second-ball duck.

Zimbabwe: (probable) 1 Vusi Sibanda/Sean Williams, 2 Mark Vermeulen, 3 Hamilton Masakadza, 4 Brendan Taylor (wk), 5 Charles Coventry, 6 Elton Chigumbura, 7 Stuart Matsikenyeri, 8 Malcolm Waller, 9 Prosper Utseya (capt), 10 Ray Price, 11 Tawanda Mupariwa

Quotes
"The wicket is absolutely flat and there is no margin for error. The game has to be won with high intensity cricket and if you lose concentration for a few overs while fielding then the match can quickly get away from you."
Mushfiqur Rahim calls it as he sees it

:flag::flag::flag:

Why wouldn't they drop Mehrab. Can't bat, can't bowl. Naeem is the most useful batsman during the batting powerplay. Mehrab thinks playing dot balls during the powerplay overs is clever because the fielding side doesn't expect it. And, Zunaid was dropped for no good reason. He was in some sort of form as of late.

If Naeem plays, which now it seems like, I hope he is used as a pinch hitter at number 3. We have to maximise the runs scored in first 15 overs as there are not many lusty hitters down the order.Ash plays more cautiously now, which is good, so he should be 4, then rakib 5 and sakib 6.

Batsmen[বাংলা]-দের প্রথমে খেয়াল রাখতে হবে যে এটা[/বাংলা] T20 match [বাংলা]না।[/বাংলা] Every batsman should try to take a couple of overs to settle down, keeping the scoreboard running with 1's and 2's. If they can score at around 4.5 to 5 runs/over in the first 30 overs losing no more than 3 wickets, preferably batting first, a score of 310+ is feasible. BD should open with a pacer and a spinner, setting an attacking field from the get go. ZIM is the weaker team and will crumble if BD applies pressure by bowling and fielding well. It will insha'Allah be 3-1 after tomorrow's match...

Mushfiqur Rahim calls it as he sees it

good comment from musfiq...yes, he is right. they should understand their own self, what they did wrong?

If you are talking about winning more matches against minnows, we had better record before Siddons came along.

Regardless how the team is performing, you got to recognize the fact that he is the most influential person in team selection. So much so that he can drop a player even though everyone else opposes his decision.

In past, Siddons frequently threatened to quit if he did not get the team he wanted. I guess by now everyone else has just given up and decided to go along whatever Siddons decides.

Lets look at the future. Going back to past wont help us. Most of the teams are changing apart from West Indies because of WICB/WIPA politics.

This Zim team is much stronger than the team we faced in January. Definitely there batting is, only department they are lacking is their bowling. So I wont call them minnows.

Coach is not the problem. It is our domestic cricket. Look at Zimbabwe they are trying to change their domestic structure by bringing this franchise league. Mark my word if their politics does not interfere this will be revolution in Zim Cricket.

Eshen, I'm not certain I understand why you've got a hate on for Siddons. I don't think our cricket has regressed under him. What exactly are your problems with him? What specifically has he done (or is he doing) that is causing our cricket any harm?

So i think that links should be worthy for their own link or it should be on the title page of the thread

Welcome to Cricinfo's coverage of the fourth ODI being played in Bulawayo. What a fightback by Zimbabwe in the last game to end Bangladesh's winning run. They tackled the spinners well, paced their innings superbly and amassed a match-winning total. The visitors, after their run of seven wins, were caught off guard, surprised by the manner in which Zimbabwe approached their innings. The pitch is an excellent one for batting, so we may well be in for another high-scorer. The toss is still a few minutes away, so read the preview in the meantime.

Don't know if they are. Rainsford is better than he looked in match 2. I think he'll bowl better in tandem with Mupa.

Without the benefit of a speed gun, I guesstimate both to bowl between 130-135 kmph, occasionally hitting the high 130s.

Bowling first is good for us:
1. Athar suggested to bat first.
2. This is the wicket of the first match.

Williams in for Sibanda as Masa opens again! No Ed to bowl with Mupa. Zimbo have serious selection issues. Blameless when that maniac Mugabe's boys are watching you 24/7.

So, Robin does have good variations,, I think his issues are more with his accuracy. Because he seems to vary his deliveries very well and does fool the batsman... Just needs to learn how to play the ODIs to control the runs. Come to think of it,,, he prbably could be a god Test bowler..
