Anyone following this? I just checked the scoreboard.. Eng 42/2 Bopara 0, Trott 0.

England were 2-1 and 6-2 - this is ridiculous. Ireland will gain massive number of points if they beat England today. The difference between them and us will then be very small. Hope it doesn't come to that.

Roni_uk
August 27, 2009, 06:25 AM
59/2 - RR increased from 2.5 to 3. in 19 Overs! Eng won't make anywhere near 200 giving the Irish a great chance of an upset.

Ireland doing a great job!

End of over 32 (4 runs) England 102/4
JL Denly 51* (90b 2x4) WK McCallan 3-0-10-0
OA Shah 6* (13b)

Roni_uk
August 27, 2009, 07:29 AM
I do not want Ireland to beat England before we do. That will be another slap on the face by Ireland to us. Not to mention what the win will do to the point differences between us and them. If I am correct IRE will have 42 and we are 53! Another upset by Ireland and we go behind them in points!

Johnston to Wright, OUT, and he's got him! Goes for a big hit once more and its a fantastic catch by Mooney diving forward after making a lot of ground from long off

This is a sh**ty England side. The Irish should teach them a lesson. I am sure Peiterson and possibly Flintoff will be back to play against us.

Unless it is truncated to a 20 over match. :) chasing 100 runs in 20 overs should be piece of a cake.

intelligent effective bowlers like DT Johnston knows what he is doing, no wonder England lost two quick early wickets.

Same thing happened to Bangladesh btw...:) This is Cricket. Rankings are just human observations on pen and paper, the real deal happens on the field :)

with correct strategy anybody can beat anyone!!!

D/L method for sure. This should be a walk in the park for the Irish since Eng lost 9 wickets plus a very low score. In over 20 overs, the target should be less than 100 - I think!

5.05pm Word is the game will re-start at 5.36pm precisely. It is now a 20 over game and Ireland will need 116 to win. The sun is out too would you believe, along with a few spots of rain of course.

Rifat
August 27, 2009, 11:13 AM
it will be difficult to tell.

I mean it is always tough chasing on a damp pitch, English bowlers are no joke either, especially on favorable conditions.

however, with a relatively small target to chase, it shouldn't be monumentally hard either for The Drunken Potatos

Eoin Morgan must be kicking himself now for falling for England, they have not picked him to play at his home ground! That too when England fielded such a depleted side!

Like Ed Joyce and Gavin Hamilton, Morgan will be prolly given a match here and a match there, and then will be kicked out of England team to wait six years to play for Ireland again!

England has a way to somehow always pull through against the lower teams.

Like Netherlands?

Not really have you seen Aussie T20 squad. Nannes is playing for them after playing for the Netherlands in WCT20. And how long did Hamilton wait. He played for Scotland then England then Scotland....Its a joke.

You can play for an associate team and then play for a full member without waiting. But once you play for a full member, you have to wait 6 years before you can play for an associate team.

I am pretty sure Gavin Hamilton had to wait 6 years (after he last played for England) before he could play for Scotland again.

Yeah you are right about 6 years wait.

Its sad for players like Eoin Morgan and Ed Joyce that they have to go through this but its their choice at the end of the day they should have stick to their country or should I have said countries (northern ireland and republic of ireland).

Look what happened to Hamilton after all his hype during WC1999 England picks him then throughs him away. Now he is just an average player.

Hamilton was pretty clueless in his only Test match - he had no idea how to deal with the short stuff that was on offer and very conveniently scored a pair. It may have been unfair to drop him after that, but you can't really blame the management either, because England certainly had better players in the dug out.

I missed this one. Had no idea. Ireland played well up to their quality.
