Batting paradise!!

SA ready to win a trophy, finally!! All pieces are put in place. De Villiers, Parnel, Steyn, Gibbs, Smith all ready to go. With spinners putting their hands up.

Ind, Dhoni-Kristen combo has worked wonders. They have built a great program there. Certainly they will challenge every one.

Ponting's Australia has slipped a little but they still have weapons to make it to the finals.

SL, bowling is excellent. However, this is a batting paradise so it all depends on the top order clicking.

Pak, as unpredictable as they can be.

NZ well they are short of confidence and experience. One match can make a difference but I doubt.

England, I am not sure why they are making the trip? Ashes are over isn't it? They will be laughing stock I presume. Shear entertainment will come out from their corner.

WI should be the whipping boys for the other Group 1 teams.

It will be a shock if the SF list doesn't read SA, IND, AUS and SL.

Will probably only check the score at the end of the day as I'm really not excited about this tournament at all.

BD should organize a '2nd Tier Trophy' at the same time and invite ZIM, IRE, AFG, NZ, WI and ENG (yes those three would enjoy this tournament more anyways)

FYI I opened a thread about the warmups.
I am eagerly waiting for this knock-out tourney which cajoles
the boredom of World Cup group stage matches.

A little bit a bounce that is about it. Anything full from the phast bowlers will be dealt severly by the quality batsmen and ura-dhura players as well. Look for 300 runs regularly even those would be chased down with frequest interval.

I am probably one of the rare lazy people of BC, who spent 5 years here and still does not understand the fantasy league. :(
Recently, it seems fantasy leagues are more interesting than actual cricket.

SA will lose today, scoring about 250-260. But they will be the champion, I guess. No team can chase 300 against the Sri Lankan attack at the moment.

Big game and batting friendly. understandable. 3 wickets makes it worth including him instead of Ntini.

Steyn cleans up Mathew as well and ends up with 3 wickets.

Ntini would have bowled much better and they could restrict the lankans within 250. Ntini have good records against Lankans in SA. He is also too good of a bowler in his home condition.

It was a poor decision from SA team management to play Parnel instead of Ntini. Now they paid the price. It is not 20/20.

Damn rain!
Anyway I am surprised & happy to see Lankans on top.

One World
September 22, 2009, 02:56 PM
Experts on CI agree with Murad

Rob: "South Africa have been hammered in this match. Their fielding was lazy, they bowled pooly, and their batting was even worse. They need to make some changes. First of all, Ntini should replace Parnell. He is South Africa's most experienced bowler and he deserves a chance. Robin Peterson should come in for Botha because he adds some stability to the batting line up, and hopefully Gibbs will be fit to replace Amla."

Tigers_eye
September 22, 2009, 03:21 PM
Batting under lights. :) centurion is known for getting easy in the second innings but not under the lights :)

Well Ntini might play in the next game so would Gibbs.

Amla is a make shift opener. That is not his natural place. He rotates the strike and much better in the middle order. But those spots are taken.

Good work Murad for for having Dilshan in the lineup.

All eyes are now settled into Gavin Tonge.
This world really loves underdogs.

So fluid and rhythmic was Tonge that you believed him when he said after taking a career-best 4 for 25 that he could've bowled 20 overs straight. "I was feeling good today, good to bowl 20 overs straight because it was my type of pitch and I was feeling it good," Tonge said. "Coming in the rhythm was perfect."

They were the first four ODI wickets of his career and it felt as if he did his spell a little disservice by talking of the pitch as if it were a love he had spent his entire life chasing after. "That was a very good track for fast bowling and cricket in general," he said. "Having seen the Pakistan bowlers earlier in the day there was a little bit of nip in it and a fair bit of carry, but it was a very, very good pitch for fast bowling."

Bowlers are rarely so glowing about the merits of a pitch, especially after they have done so well on it. The natural urge is to play up your own skills and play down the surface's assistance. Not so Tonge. "We're going to be playing on the same pitch again," he said, in anticipation of a second date. "Hopefully it will be behaving the same, so I will put the ball on the spot and let the pitch do the same. Hopefully I'll be doing the same thing again."

He seems upbeat but unfortunately it would be Australia they will play next. I do not see their batsmen pulling of a miracle no matter how good he bowls.

E-)

I'm so disappointed, we were on the way to a score of around 260 and then for some reason
lost 5/32!

To be honest parnell is not that great, he is getting pumped for 8 runs and over and getting wickets because of poor mistimed lofts over the infield

van der marve was the best south african bowler yesterday

It was good to see bond bowling at 145km/hr, which was faster than steyn
Why vettori did not give him a slip is retarded since he gave kyle mills and tuffey a slip

If he had of given a slip, de villiers would of gone for a duck

Well SL seems to settle down now. Bad stuff for England. They will not see Malinga's ball at all. In my opinion, Anything above 150 and SL can defend that.

17 runs off Roach's last over.
WI opening bowlers so briliant for 6 over ...23/1 ..
it's 40/1 after 7

6.6
Roach to Ponting, FOUR, another boundary ends an expensive over, on the pads, that's terrible bowling especially when you have with the fine leg in the circle, thank you says Ponting as he guides it for four past fine leg

6.5
Roach to Ponting, FOUR, Roach goes for the yorker on legstump, ends up as a half-volley, Ponting gets his front foot out of the way and powers the ball past mid-on

6.5
Roach to Ponting, 1 no ball, this is poor from Roach, his third no-ball, full and outside off, defended towards cover, time for a free-hit

6.4
Roach to Ponting, no run, a touch shorter, on middle stump, Ponting punches it towards mid-on

6.3
Roach to Ponting, FOUR, another boundary, full ball on middle and leg, bread and butter for Ponting, flicked behind square for four

6.2
Roach to Ponting, no run, 151.1kmh, it holds it's line after pitching on a length just outside off, has Ponting feeling for it, beats the batsman

6.1
Roach to Ponting, FOUR, shortish ball on the leg stump, Ponting is on the backfoot quickly, and just helps it on it's way to the fine leg boundary with a flat ba
