why all of our bowlers are medium fast?

wasn't abul hasan clocking 82-83 mph in england? of course that means 78 mph in BD pitches.

Both Abul Hasan and Alauddin Babu clocked in that range.

Bowling speed is measured at release of deliveries, so it does not depend on nature of pitches. English pitches where U-19 matches took place were not that bouncy anyway.

England U-19 cricketers arrive

The England under-19 cricket team arrived here yesterday on a month-long tour to gear up for the ICC U-19 World Cup in New Zealand in January next year.

The English boys will play one four-day Test and seven one-dayers against their Bangladeshi counterparts.

The visitors begin their tour with a two-day match against BCB Selection XI at the Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium at Fatullah on October 12. They then travel to Chittagong to play the four-dayer over October 16-19.

The first one-dayer on October 23 will also be held in Chittagong. The next four limited-overs matches, scheduled for October 26, 27, 29 and 31 respectively, will be held at Fatullah.

The visitors will wrap up the month-long tour with two more one-day games at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on the 2nd and 4th of November.

Bangladesh Under-19 coach Minhazul Abedin said his boys are ready to produce an improved performance in the longer version of the game against their English counterparts during the month-long home series that starts with a two-day practice match at the Fatullah Stadium today.

Bangladesh youths badly lost the two-Test series during their trip to England in July but performed commendably in the five-match ODI series.

"We had trouble adapting to the conditions initially, so we struggled in the practice matches and in Tests. But we did great in the one-day series," said Minhazul ahead of the home series that includes one Test and seven one-dayers.

The former national captain admitted that Bangladesh were less competitive in the longer version than shorter versions at all levels.

"We will be conscious when we practice. England are a very good side. Most of them play county cricket. They have Asian players as well. And they do particularly well in longer version of the game. But our target this time is to win the Test and the one-day series," said the champion batsman of the country.

"We've played four or five matches against this team. Their preparation is better than ours. But as we will be playing on home soil we are confident we can do well," added Minhazul.

The inclusion of seven one-day games in the series was understandable as the Under-19 World Cup is knocking on the door. The tournament is scheduled to be held in New Zealand January next year.

Minhazul also talked about his team's prospect in the World Cup.

“We've got little time to prepare for the World Cup. Let's say we've done 75-80 per cent of preparation. Hopefully, players will get prepared before the tournament begins," he said.

Bangladesh were eliminated from the quarterfinals in the last two World Cups. But Minhazul hoped that his boys would do better this time.

"Consistency is very important to succeed, but we lack that at all levels. Our target is to stay in the top four first, then we will see if we can get farther," he observed.

Bangladesh will also host Zimbabwe after this series.

Reflecting on his team's strengths and weaknesses Minhazul said: "We've got two leg-spinners in the team which is very good for us. But our batting is a bit weak."

England Under-19 captain Azeem Rafique said that the series would be challenging for them.

"The last series against Bangladesh was quite a challenging one for us. In the Tests, we were on top. But the one-dayers were a real challenge for us. This time it would be tougher," said Azeem.

"Our target is to win the World Cup. We'll work really hard on that during this tour. We'll do anything to try and win the World Cup," said the England Under-19 skipper.

Team manager John Abrahams said that the biggest drawback of his team was that they didn't have the experience of playing in the subcontinent.

"We are however lucky to have so many all-rounders in the team. We've batters who can bowl, and bowlers who can bat," said a jovial Abrahams

i think nasir Hossain should be included in our team. he is still under 19 and an excellent allrounder and a future national team candidate.

at the begining i thought they will make him captain but for some unknown reason, he is not even part of the team.
