One of its kind. For the first time in the history of the game (well at least at this level/to this scale), we have international clubs meeting to battle it out - much like soccer. More club cricket can only be good for the game and I for one am excited.

Follow the league on cricinfo (http://www.cricinfo.com/t20champions2009/content/current/series/405864.html).

Also from cricinfo, the squads, for your convenience:

If the above link does not satisfy your appetite, here is a more lighter look at few of the predicted top runners in the menu:

Teams To Watch

Deccan Chargers
The reigning IPL champions, they got their name thanks to their habit of asking for exorbitant fees for getting out of bed, practising and smiling. In preparation for the Champions League, Deccan recently unveiled their new team logo: an enormous golden wheelbarrow full of currency notes.

Delhi Daredevils
Qualified by virtue of not being the worst semi-finalists at IPL 2009, the Daredevils have been boosted by the absence of Paul Collingwood and have warmed up for this tournament with a team-bonding visit to the Bank of India.

Somerset Peasants/Sussex Nobodies
May struggle to adapt to the heat, the travel and the presence of large numbers of spectators. Although they aren’t very good, all the English lads have brought their bank details with them and are hopeful of getting a result.

New South Wales Meat Pies
The only serious challengers from outside India, the Meat Pies are planning a big celebration if they win the thing. To thank the folks of New South Wales, Simon Katich will be letting fans catch a glimpse of the yacht he hopes to buy with his winnings, and Brett Lee has promised not to sing.

Cape Chokers
The current South African Twenty20 Champions, the Chokers only won their final playoff against the Border Bottlers when the other team got so nervous about the big day that they forgot to turn up. The Chokers still somehow managed to find themselves 10 for 2 after five overs, but then thankfully rain intervened and they scraped through under the Duckworth-Lewis system.

Man, the Eagles got creamed! So did Thanda Tshabalalalalala!

Next up: Gambhir, Dilshan, Nannes vs Hussey, Siddle. Should be very interesting.

Btw, some interesting facts on McGain:

At the age of 35, Bryce McGain went from IT worker to professional cricketer and he did it with such success that within a year he was part of Australia's Test squad to tour India. The call-up came as Australia searched the country for their next long-term spinner and McGain's promising effort during Australia A's rain-affected trip to India helped his cause. He embarked on the trip as the No. 1 spinner and was almost certain to make his debut but was forced home due to an unusual injury to the tendons in his right armpit. Surgery was required but despite his advanced age, McGain did not give up on his Test dream. When he returned to state action in January 2009, he managed a timely five-wicket Sheffield Shield haul that earned him a place on the Test tour of South Africa. However, when his opportunity finally came at Cape Town, where at 36 he became Australia's oldest Test debutant since Bob Holland, McGain struggled to find the right length and was treated harshly to finish with match figures of 0 for 149, and his hopes of further international action had faded.
The previous season McGain was the leading Pura Cup spinner, with 38 wickets at 34.15, and the equal highest FR Cup wicket-taker. He played every first-class game for Victoria in 2007-08 and also proved an unexpectedly valuable limited-overs bowler, with 15 victims at 24.40. Even more surprising was his Twenty20 worth; a collection of six wickets at 16.16 and an economy rate of 6.46 in the champion team suggested a relaxed legspinner with faith in his skills.
That confidence was built over 15 years in Melbourne's club cricket. It was near impossible for McGain to break into the state side while Shane Warne, Colin Miller and Cameron White filled the slow-bowling roles. He played three Pura Cup matches from 2001-02 to 2003-04 but had little effect and appeared destined to bowl out his career for his grade side Prahran while working in the ANZ Bank's IT section. However, when White was in the Australia side in January 2007, McGain was recalled for two games and grabbed his chance with a second-innings 6 for 112 to be one of the matchwinners against New South Wales in Sydney. He earned his first state contract, quit his day job and was still hoping for a lengthy career despite his age, declaring that: "Most first-class cricketers at 35 have had the workload of ten years of cricket and I haven't."
A lean spinner with a quick and low approach to the crease, McGain's strength is his consistency - his variations are used sparingly but loose balls are even rarer. He almost stole the FR Cup final from Tasmania in 2007-08 with a vicious late spell of 3 for 11 and he picked up first-class five-wicket hauls against the Tigers and the Blues. He struggled to use the SCG pitch to maximum effect in the Pura Cup decider, which may have in part cost him a place on Australia's tour to the West Indies, but following Stuart MacGill's retirement, he was widely regarded as the leading legspinner in the country.

.

No man , I disagree. I am considered a Leftist by my friends and for the most part agree that India should have good relations with Pakistan . Dont get me wrong I not for second think that India is not be blamed for some of the mess we have in the subcontinent but I believe that for the future prosperity of the Sub Continent in general and India in particular I think the Pakistani govt. has to change its policy towards "terrorism".For whatever reason ( because of the US in the Afghan conflict and to support the Kashmir issue) Pakistan govt, has gone astray (I think) since the '80's .India has to to whatever is in its might to put pressure on Pak. to change its policy.India does not have the might like the US to force Pak to do anything it wants , so it rather do what is in its capacity.

If not anything else, its a symbolic statement that shows India would not entertain Pak if it keeps supporting anti-Indian elements. Also, at the end of the day its better than going to war drawing the whole region into misery

Taylor gone mad as with the ball he made Butler to leave the ground as well. :)

19.6
McSkimming to Taylor, SIX, what a player!, Ross Taylor take a bow, a low full toss from McSkimming, not too bad a delivery, Taylor bends his knee and smacks it over deep backward square to send the crowd into a frenzy, that's 25 from the over

19.5
McSkimming to Taylor, 2 runs, pushed towards mid-on with soft hands, Taylor pushes Kallis to come back for the second and they get it with ease

19.4
McSkimming to Taylor, SIX, that was really a terrible delivery, Taylor says thank you very much and smashes it past deep square leg, that was a high full toss outside off

Butler has gone off, as he can't carry on because of his knee trouble, McSkimming to bowl the final three balls

19.3
Butler to Taylor, SIX, Taylor gives the crowd what they came to see, massive power behind that shot, a length ball on middle and leg, Taylor dismisses it to the crowd behind long-off, that was way back into the stands

19.2
Butler to Taylor, FOUR, Taylor loves midwicket, it was fractionally short and just outside off, Taylor pounces on that one, smashes it past midwicket

Trescothick flies home from India
Cricinfo Link (http://www.cricinfo.com/t20champions2009/content/current/story/429828.html)
Marcus Trescothick has had to fly home from Somerset's Champions League campaign in India after a recurrence of his stress-related illness. He will play no further part in the event, even though Somerset have qualified for the second round of the campaign.

His latest setback occurred on the morning after Somerset's defeat to Trinidad & Tobago, a result that left their progression from the group stages hanging on the result of Trinidad's subsequent encounter with Deccan Chargers. He approached Somerset's director of cricket, Brian Rose, with his misgivings, and given his previous history of depression, the decision was immediately taken to fly him home.

I dont' understand why T&T have been underrated. First of, they are a 'national' team and they have the availabilty to select from the entire country as opposed to the other clubs. The team has been solid together and fresh compared to the other star studded teams. Plus T&T went in as the group champion and the only undefeated team in the tournament.

I've been rooting for them from the get go as I enjoyed their games in the Stanford T20 (courtesy of Zee when I had it to follow the ICL).

Still defending the undefendable. Don't you realise how this was a bust without the over-rated IPL teams in semis? Had T&T didn't make it to the semis, this would be a disaster. The Star power and underdog label of T&T (wrongly put) is what is allowing this ship (Champion's League) to float. I hope they pay the players this time the prize money they promised.

There you go again. Going back to your utopia just for the sake of argument. Something that will not happen with the current structure within the ICC.

Bollinger to Pollard, 1 wide, effort ball, short and wide outside off, Pollard swings and misses and wide is called for eight much to Bollinger's frustration .... "Oh for Fred's sake," he says in disgust ... well, you know what I mean ...

Dude, you're entitled to your views and thats fine. I just find it amusing that you go around bashing T20 but then follow it with a fantasy league. Brings a smile to my face so thank you.

For someone who has loves the reality as opposed someone with a dream of utopia not getting his way you seem to be more angry about things than I am.

hmmm!! So you are giving this credit to T20. They played this way long before T20 was in the main stream. In the same field didn't SA chase down 434 in 50 overs? This is a field where high scoring matches are held. 286 off 40 overs is a Par score if not below Par. Puttick, Duminy played a good knock. No doubt about that.

But are you comparing Shakib to Duminy, Tamim to Puttick?
