Murad plz use the Bangla Tag while post in bangla. easier to read. thanks.
Hamidul Islam- I'm guessing he is the backup Wicket Keeper. He is playing for Abahani this year and appeared in one T20 match as a keeper for them against CCS. Did one dismissal - Stumping (Taposh Ghosh st Hamidul Islam b Arafat Sunny) and did not bat. He is backup of Sagir Hossain Pavel for DPL.

I checked few newspaper and all I find is Prothom-alo mentioned this game on their sports page and all they said: Coach JS didnot make his most players fielding the entire game, he rotate them and pretty much that was it. No mention who won the match or score!

This is really pathetic that a match (be it a BCB XI warm-up, practice match, what not) being played on BD's soil and all these newspapers in BD, so called journalists, so called BCB admins cannot provide a match result involving BD national players and a serious foreign team, let alone over by over match update! This is purely disgusting!

Frankly, I'm shocked and disappointed. This is not news. This is a mockery of news! How could they not have a decent article on this giving the details of what happened?...
Any ways, hope we get better feed back next time around!

BCB should give Faisal another chance in International cricket. He is very consistent over the last 2/3 years. He is having a List A average over 35.
I know he wasn't technically good batsman when he last played but over the last 5 years or so he has changed a lot. We need some experienced players.

To add to that, if i may
It would be mighty hard for Imrul Kayes to make a comeback to the team after that glossy performance.

According to Sujan, it was an intentional move by the selectors not to play with a recognized spinner as they didn't want the Zimbabwean players to get accustomed with the condition. Actually, to be honest this is not even our 3rd string bowling line up as most of the players are busy in the national, academy and U-19 teams.

Yup, I have no problem with this result.
Good practice game for the Zimbos. I always had high respect for Taylor. Glad he got a lot of runs in this match against our 3rd tier.

bowling wise, the only one who we have ever heard of (aside from tarek) are talha and robin, and both of them bowled fairly well. tarek's and rahainuddin (who i've never heard of) were the difference between a 275 target and a 336 one. things got so bad, hannan was asked to bowl an over conceding 17 off just 5 deliveries.
good game for the zimbs, and hopefully the only victory they will be taking home with them. also good for our boys to see that zim can do score some runs if they just bowl rubbish.

Though I'm sad for our boys, Zimbabwe really needed this win to get real boost before the series. Well done. Here reforms the 10th giant (assuming BD as the 9th :-p).

by looking at relative econ rates, sherlock.

that still does not really prove anything
You can not tell how many edges there were from a scorecard, or how many dropped chances.
A bowler who has good stats may have not been targeted by the batsmen.
You look at stats far too deeply Al furqaan
Now tell me, look at Javed Miandad he averaged 52 while Jayawardene averages 53
from your perspective Jayawardene is the better batsmen because of his average
From the stats you cannot see the players batting style, from the stats you cannot see who they had to face as bowling attacks, from the stats all you see is their averages

Haha I sometimes think the same thing; heck I wanted to add a line for asad bhai in "chicken thread" that "statistically only 1 out of 123 chickens cross the road and gets hit..."
But back on topic, I agree. You cannot judge a person by some numerical scaffolding. Numbers don't tell the whole story. Guys like Wasim used to bowl a lot of wides and if a person solely looked at his extras he would have been quick to dismiss his talents. Watching someone perform is one thing, and to decipher the whole story just from residual stats is quite difference. After all as today's article read on Ian Bishop: "Fast bowling is an emotive art" that is run on emotion and adrenaline...
Just my two pence.

sherlock,
most certainly stats are are of ultimate importance. matches are won by teams scoring more runs/points. that is a statistic. many a time a team has played worse than their opponent and still won due to the only statistic that matters in that respective sport.
no doubt, in certain instances shabby bowling stats can be mitigated by edges and dropped catches. but in this case, we're talking about some really ordinary to crappy bowlers. perhaps tarek and arafat bowled beautifully and had 5-fers denied by dropped catches and unlucky edges. but thats highly unlikely. you know that, i know that.
robin and talha are fundementally better bowlers, however ordinary they might be in the grand scheme of bangladesh cricket or international cricket. and the numbers back up that sentiment. there is no shortage of "prospect" talk here on BC and tarek and arafat haven't been mentioned once. there's a reason for that...they're not very good. hence, the likelyhood of their shabby figures being due to being outclassed as opposed to unlucky is very high.
robin and talha (as well as faisal) all bowled with econ rates well below the average. usually when a bowler is not attacked, there is a reason for that: he's bowling well and putting the ball in the right place. batsmen don't just arbitrarily decide who to attack and who to show respect to, at least not at international level. if a bowler continues to put the ball in the slot, you don't refrain from hitting boundaries just for the hell of it. cricket is far more methodical than that.
statistics can indeed be misleading, but only when manipulated by a biased or untrained statistician. i love numbers, there's no denying that, math is the language of richness, and i use it with pleasure. but if you've ever studied my work, you will see that a lot of thought goes into creating complex algorithms and statistics no one else has ever even thought of.
i'm a bit smarter than just comparing miandad's average to jawardene's. thats for mere mathematical infants.
i suggest you study some of my earlier works to understand the depth of my number crunching.
player ratings formula (http://www.banglacricket.com/alochona/showthread.php?t=24500&highlight=weir)
new stat called "singles strike rate" (http://www.banglacricket.com/alochona/showthread.php?p=942716&highlight=middle+overs+batting+solved#post942716)
in particular with the singles strike rate data, the numbers don't lie. there is no way you can argue that the statistic doesn't take into account some conceivable mitigating factor. the fact is that in the end, it doesn't matter how talented you are, or how good your technique is, or how pretty your strokeplay, if you can score runs, you're good. sakib has one of the ugliest games in our side, the shaddiest technique, and does not possess much inborn talent. yet he is the single best accumulator of runs in the middle overs and not surprisingly has the highest SSR on our team.

Not to get in the middle of Al-F and NZfan but it is not fair to pass judgement on good/bad purely from the scorecard.
There are too many factors like what the score was, what are the powerplay overs were, how much pressure was on the team to score runs that play into how well a bowler bowled or not.
For example an opening strike bowler could take the top order early and another bowler not bolwing well could easily end up with 4/5 tail wickets at a lower economy because the batting team was under pressure to score or consolidate from an early loss.
On that same point, I think our Middle order has poorer stats than they should because far too often they come in during a collapse and are required to play a different role than they are comfortable with.

well, nzfan initially hinted that the bowlers bowled well, zim batted better. but if as he is suggesting, there were loads of dropped catches/edges, then is that really good batting? and if not, as is most likely the case, then its either a) really crappy bowling b) good bowling from really crappy bowlers or c) all of the above.
good bowling does not yield 335 in 50 overs, no matter who the opposition is or how flat the pitch is.

I never hinted they bowled well
I just saw you mention that they bowled poorly and since I'm a scientist I went "hey, how do you know they did"
Its not an arguement, just a discussion about whether or not you can tell purely from statistics whether a team bowled poorly or the other team batted well etc

even in science there are events of high likelyhood (probability) and low likelyhood. the likelyhood of the earth continuing its orbit around the sun = high. the probability of a giant asteroid obliterating humanity within the next year = low.
similarily, the likelyhood that a bowler got robbed of wickets is 50-50, but the probability of him bowling line and length and still going for 7 or 8 an over is quite low. i hope you will agree with me that figures of 5-75 in a ODI aren't very good, and no one took 5 wickets either. 0-35 >>> than 5-75 from a 10 over spell, and thats why i rate bowlers like syed rasel who are anything but your typical fast bowler.
