should be a good series, aussies are back to dominating ways, india hav yuvraj and sehwag back. should be a cracker.

series should be starting, and according to cricinfo, the champions league matches were poorly attended, seemingly disproving the notion that any t20 will be swallowed up by the public. and mind you, indian fans are the biggest t20 fans out there.

it will be interesting to see how the 7 ODIs are attended, as this will possibly predict the eventual viability of the 50 overs format.

CL matches were poorly attended because of the early elimination of local teams. Indian fans like to watch their own players only, regardless of the format of the match.

thats what i've been saying. ppl are arguing that t20 is a "magic pill". it might not be. yes, it may earn more money, but even that may be mistaken. lets see how ODIs do. the fact is neutral matches will always have little interest and generate little revenue.

if a good ODI product is put out there, there isn't any reason why people won't show up. making most matches of a series day-nighters will also help.

Tendy is considered the main man this time. Although I think it would be Sehwag and Dravid who would make the most runs and probably win the series for India. Pravin Kumar should be accompanied with Chawla. It seems he improved a lot.

Australia is batting after winning the toss.
If their middle-order clicks, I find no reason for Australia not winning the series.

What happened to Lee? Ponting is making it a match from nowhere. fixed?
Update: Australia wins. Lee was on the field and still bowled only 6 overs. This match outcome looks very much like fixed. I suspect, they intentionally made it a close game....more spectator in the next match, more money.

Abid_Khan
October 25, 2009, 06:45 AM
I agree with Baundule somewhat, why didn't Ponting use Lee instead of Watson?? that 20 over from Watson really spiced up the game for India and if Lee bowler the score would've looked better for Australia at that time. Nevertheless Siddle bowled well to win the game, congrats (Y)

Dhoni has scored 100....

What headline @ cricinfo.

Destructive Dhoni... I checked his SR and it was 115. Yes he scored the first century of the series but that innings is destructive? 9 fours and 3 sixes. Just as any normal century stats. Shewag and Raina both had better SR.

Mahbub_BD
October 28, 2009, 03:26 PM
Good win for India there. Great batting by Dhoni also Gambhir and Raina.
I wonder if India will consider dropping Harbajan? His bowling has been very poor of recent and right now I think Amit Mishra is a better option..

Banglatiger84
October 29, 2009, 01:00 AM
Erm, Dhonis was destructive in the last 40 balls that he faced,

I think he scored something like 65 in 80 balls, and then ~ 60 in ~25 balls

So it felt "destructive" in the late part of his innings, the flat 6 over midwicket was amazing.....

Baundule
October 29, 2009, 01:36 AM
Another match looked very much like fixed. Ponting was too boring in bowling changing, field placement, allowing easy singles. During the chase, it never looked like they wanted to chase. They could score of Harbhajan, while they never attacked Yuvraj. Even the injury hit Aussie side has enough batting power to challenge the Indian bowling. They never did in the last match.

Spot on ! Harbajan is good but he has tapered of quiet a bit.Mishra or Piyush or Ojha are better bet than bajji .I guess he is hanging on the team based on his reputation .frankly he was just above average even at its best ..cant believe India does not have a better spinner than him

why has piyush chowla not been picked in a while?? poor form? i remember he was quite reputed.

I think amit mishra is more reputed than chawla. may be because they have many part-time spinning options they aren't too bothered. is harbhajan bowling very badly ?

today's match
Aus : (all out; 49.2 overs) 250 (5.06 runs per over)

Ind to bat. lead series 2-1.

Tigers_eye

Series tied. 2-2.

Chawla plays overseas for Sussex. Mishra at home.

Mishra shined under the lights recently and Chawla turned the switch off in the Champion's league.

Harbhajan is batting much better than Alrounders Ind got.

I hope so. India once again proved why they're one man army. But Aussies give birth to some fighting cricketers who starts contributing from the very onset. This McKey is a kind of third string bowler of Australia and see how did he changed the momentum of the match with crucial wickets. Hats off to Australia :notworthy:

McKay did pretty well during the Champions League. He is a bowler, who looks like the one to hit; but he always gets crucial wickets. It is in his attitude. But besides all these heroics, I still suspect, the series is simply fixed. I have felt many times that the captains or the players are not doing the right thing quite intentionally. They are making the series attractive to pull crowd or some other reasons. The next match should be won by India to maximize that effect.

Could be ! If thats true its a hell of a fix.

But personally this tour does not excite me ..for me a tour should include 3 Tests and 5 ODI's .A proper tour should build on its own ..this is more like "actors" going through the motions .It looks artificial but I dont think its fixed .

Xactly!!!

What does 7 match series give us as Cricket fans? This is not Basketball. Even then the series is split between the two teams. Here, the planning is as pathetic as it can be. Revenue is not everything.

The game was an excellent one I must say. No, there is no match fixing here. Too much at stake (even if that means meaningless games).

India are 96 for 7 in 35 overs in Guwahati !

The match started early, around 830 am India time, and India were reduced to 27 for 5....

If India loses this time, it should put pay to the theorists who felt this series was fixed to generate exciting finishes.....

So India can not beat Australia C, at least we could beat WI B.

..

If India loses this time, it should put pay to the theorists who felt this series was fixed to generate exciting finishes.....

Maybe they did this to cover up the fact that it was fixed :-p

Aus is still the no.1 and India is still the number 2/3 .This series burst my bubble !!

I think India did good.

Players have too many things to concnetrate on. IPL, Champions league, domestic leagues. They are not robots. They need to a break from everything and BCCI is not giving them any.

Australia proved so many things in this series.
