Mohammad Irfan is a 6'10 Pakistani left arm fast bowler. He's 27 years old and will be making his first class debut this upcoming 09/10 season!

He is the tallest fast bowler ever in world cricket. Joel Garner and Bruce Reid were the tallest before Irfan with 6'8'' height.

I wonder what his speed is.. 160km/h+ for sure...

Cool. Although height doesn't necessairly give a fast bowler advantage. I have seen many tall people acting all gawky like as the phrase goes "bogar moton." Talent lies in utilizing the height to one's benefit as you mentioned as Garner did it...also Walsh, McGrath and Ambrose.

Hope to see more of him in Int'l matches.

at 6'10" he would extract bounce on flat tracks. Delivering from almost 10 feet height. On bouncy tracks his full ball would bounce at throat level. Hope he is trained properly.

asif is about 6-3, so irfan is defo about 6-10.

but i dont think he's quite as tall as cricinfo lists (7-1) or some have claimed (7-2)

He is already 27, which indicates quite an old age by Pakistani standard. So, he is probably not a very good bowler to play for the national team.

Height does not equal speed

From his facebook fan page:

he's thinking about giving up on his cricket because he's not from a super rich family and he has no connections within the Pakistan cricket hierarchy. No matter how hard he tries this 6'10 left arm fast bowler cant get a place with a first class team.

So this explains everything why he wasn't picked for any teams before even though he is quite old.

This happens even in our country Bangladesh and also in India. Mamu na thakle kisui hoi na....

I liked facing rising deliveries from tall bowlers, easy to cut over the top.
