I have just watched NTV news. And Mashrafi is unfit and didn't make it to the final 15. The list wasn't yet available though...

i won't believe it until i see it on cricinfo or something more reliable!
we CANNOT GO WITH an understrength team when we have such a grand opportunity.

Ditto. But i don't agree on the "grand opportunity" part. Please let us not delude ourselves underestimating Sri Lanka...

Assuming this is true, it will be a spin heavy attack like the current squad without Mash, which is not so bad. They are a winning outfit so Im not too worried. But having Mash, would have been a plus.
In other news, that probably means the gauntlet is handed to shakib again. Now if he succeeds in this series, surely they will have to make the captaincy permanent.

i think in ODI, najmul and fit rasel will be lethal combo, both can be economical and najmul is wkt taker in recent days and rasel has reputation of taking early wkt too. later part can be fulfilled by shakib-razzaq-naeem-mahmudullah and one magical over of ashraful.

Yeah I saw it too, very unfortunate for us. We should go with nazmul and rubel for our matches then and maybe have the new guy (shafiul islam is it ?) as a backup.

Rasel is no longer the rasel we knew in 2007, he sucks now and his 70 mph deliveries will get hammered to the boundaries by our opponents. BCB never really gave much attention to our fast bowling department, they always were too impatient with new fastbowlers, dropping them off the team before they could adjust.

new guy shafiul can be a trump card in the series. totally unknown guy, not even discussed by BC members for a single time before he was selected in 26 member squad, then surprisingly in the 18 member squad and now seems like top 14, who knows he might be in main XI.
hope he brings some positive attitude.
i still think , mash should play only ODI and 20/20
test much will be too much for him and we can lose him for ever
he should follow oram, flintoff, bond

if he was unfit then why was he bowling in the practice matches, what's the point of rushing him in like this. i wonder if this has anything to do with trying to figure out a way to not make Sakib captain because he couldn't won the cup for Abahoni.

he was never gonna make it.....
he is obviously fit enough to bowl in practice matches and nets but when you are out for 5 months you need to slowly get into the rythem.........coming from a layof and into a real time match can get you into further trouble interms om injury

Here you go mate, the sad truth :(
Mashrafe Mortaza not picked for tri-series (http://www.cricinfo.com/bangladesh/content/story/441851.html)
Bangladesh have omitted Mashrafe Mortaza from the squad for next month's tri-series in Bangladesh, despite his being named in the preliminary squad. Shakib Al Hasan will lead the side with wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim as his deputy in a squad that also features two former ICL players, opener Shahriar Nafees and batsman Aftab Ahmed, and a fresh face in fast bowler Shafiul Islam.
While no official reason was given for Mortaza's omission, it's assumed he has not recovered from the knee injury he sustained during the first Test on the tour of West Indies in July. The injury ruled him out of the rest of the tour and the subsequent ODI series against Zimbabwe both home and away. However, he was selected in the 26-man preliminary squad - later reduced to 18 - for the tri-series and was named captain for the tournament as well as the home Test series against India.
The two other players dropped from the preliminary squad of 18 are fast bowler Shahadat Hossain and former ICL player Alok Kapali.
Bangladesh squad: Shakib Al Hasan (capt), Mushfiqur Rahim (vice-capt and wk), Mohammad Ashraful, Abdur Razzak, Tamim Iqbal, Syed Rasel, Raqibul Hasan, Mahmudullah, Nazmul Hossain, Naeem Islam, Imrul Kayes, Rubel Hossain, Shafiul Islam, Shahriar Nafees, Aftab Ahmed.

if he wasn't gonna make it...why bcb made him captain...
Looking for sense in utter nonsense, man !!
Even if he would have made it marginally into the team, making him captain was total nonsense, without seeing his situation is match conditions. Someone some where in BCB is anti Shakib, I guess. I'm sure, Shakib isn't at all good in lubricating.
