Shakib Al Hasan had been named in the IPL's Most Wanted List: http://www.cricinfo.com/ipl2010/content/current/story/444946.html

This means theres a huge possibility he'll be picked by an IPL team this year :smug:

George Binoy:
Right, Shakib Al Hasan is up for auction. Base price of $100,000. He went unsold surprisingly last year while Mortaza went for lots and lots. and Shakib remains unsold yet again.

I don't know the IPL schedule, but I am part of the reason is might be shakib's lack of availability. Bangladesh has a very busy international schedule during the coming months and then Shakib has commitments during english county season.

I feel sorry for his pockets a bit..but glad he's not been picked. You wouldn't want all the other international teams figuring out how to play him thru players in the same IPL team...plus its a waste of time...IPL. Noone ever learns anything..

Glad that Shakib was not picked for the crappiest ever tournament of cricket history. And no, it is not sour grapes. Never liked IPL and bully Modi, and never will.

The way he played today its like he wanted to show his T20 ability. Happy to see that he didnt pick.

Phew ! what a relief ! I was hoping for this for months. I sure did not want Saqib to lose focus away from our national team. Next six months are just too important for us. I was following the auction. Sure glad I got my wish.

Really sad to see Sakib missing out.
It would have been a good outing for him mixing with other players in a different environment...
Ah well..he's got plenty of time...

Sad that Shakib didnt get picked, it is because of his availability...that the same reason why no english players(except Eoin Morgan) got picked, cause of the Bangladesh-England series during that time

You know things are bad when you see Roach getting payed 720k and Damien martyn picked as a 20/20 specialists. Another year of IPL boycott for me.

Dude its very logical why Shakib didnt get picked...the contracts offered in this years auction lasts for 1 year, which means 1 season...this coming march, and during that time both Bangladesh and English players are unavailable , its not like they can use the players next season as the contract is for 1 year, so if they got picked it basically means giving them money for nothing cause theres gonna be a new auction next year where all the players contracts end and everyone gets auctioned again like the inaugral season

This year the first and foremost criteria for selection was AVAILABILITY, as all the contracts are for 1 year

Shakib, the MOST neglected player in IPL ! so shakib better announce tht he wont play crap tournament like IPL rather focus on County league where he could play one day, 4day matches in england. and we should not forget, all the pakistani/indian/sl players who got a chance of playing in county league only got improved but nothing else.

ITS DUE TO THE ENGLAND VS BANGLADESH SERIES : SWANN AND SHAKIB ( world's two current best spinner ) whern't get a contract .

read abirz' post. :)

read it...and i will still say, shakib shouldnt play in crap tournament like IPL. coz most of the time, he wont be picked like Ash, mash rather he will be a ball boy or net practice bowler for others.

you insane ? :timeout: don't even compare ash' value as a batsman to a team which fields the likes of sachin, sanath, bravo and duminy to a world class all rounder like shakib.

as for mash @ KKR, that was down to one aussie genius who was busy giving jobs to friends and family. cricket was the last thing on his mind and he ran KKR. this time would have been different. whatever cr*p IPL is, the chance to share and practice with the greats and legends would have been a great learning experience. those small things make all the difference between a good player and an excellent layer. given how developed shakib is as a player, I don't think there is much he can learn from county as a cricketer.

Our player will learn most negative side of a great. Do you know last time what Ash learn from Tendu?
Tendu doesn't practice much in net.

Maybe, none of the teams needed the services of an allrounder, even though, he is the No1 in the world. Probably a blessing in disguise. Only Allah knows what is best and He acts in mysterious ways.
He is young and he has lots of opportunity to make a lot of money before he reaches 30 years of age.

if that's true then ash is truly a gadha. sachin doesn't practice much NOW, nearing 37 years because he has to conserve his ageing body. from his early teens to 30's SRT was probably the most hard working cricketer of his generation. to prepare for playing shane warne in 1998 he flied in laxman shivaramakrishnan at his own expense and practiced playing leg-spin for a month ! the result ?
at the end of the tour warne confessed that he was having nightmares of sachin hitting him for sixers again and again.
that is the amount of effort, hardwork and commitment he puts into his cricket.

lol - Tendu is a bad influence on Ash - no wonder he under performs all the time.

I opened the thread to read up on 'Shakib the most wanted for IPL' just to find out he wasnt selected ... well if Eng match is overlapping with IPL, I am glad that he wasnt selected.

it's true. but that is now. at ash' age SRT probably practiced and played more in a year than a player does in 5 years of his career.

I mean this person has been playing top level cricket for about 2 decades now, that, after coming through the extremely rigorous training of mumbai cricketing school.
he probably has played some of the shots more number of times in actual international matches than players do in a lifetime of practice ! it's all imbibed in his muscle memory by now. at his level, practice is more of a focused polishing of one aspect of the game. it's the quality that matters now, not quantity.

SRT may have been a diamond but tens of thousands of hours of hardwork has gone into polishing that into the gem that he is today.

That shows Ash's negative side if thats what he learnt from Sachin. If he had just asked him questions he would have learnt more things than he will do playing. As for Sachin not practicing for T20s its not his priority, he doesnt even play for India in T20s, even today he most certainly does nets before, during test matches.

May be his failures to handle pressure situations have ruled him out. During tri-series, he fell both times he got chances to bat during pp. Also, even in DPL, he turned out be ineffective as a bowler during death overs.
