Uh, amid this blame game, please let us not forget who the REAL culprit is:

Shahadat Hossain.

I wouldn't say culprit, but just bcoz he scored 40 something doesn't mean he had to throw his wicket awway...you were doing good as a tailender, stay on then. what's the guarantee rest of the batsmen would live up to the task...luckily you're scoring runs, then conttinue....but nope..i'm a bowler, scored 40...kaam khatam, paisa hazamm..now for the rest to make their money halal.

Just saad, it really is!

I wish somehow Shek Hasina would insipre our cricket team.
Just like they showed in Invictus ( =P), how Nelson Mendala inspired a Rugby team and bought the whole nation together.
TBH I don't think i've even seen any of our gorvenment to come and watch the cricket. If you look at Kevin Rudd, he's everywhere the Aussie team is ( only in Australia). I've even seen manmohan singh watch cricket at the stadium! :S
I mean, I personally think it makes a difference when someone like the government comes to support their team at the stadium. ( yes?, no?)
But then again, the way our "GOLDEN" boys play, I don't think anything or anyone can inspire them :(

Okay one or two thoughts as I bid goodbye to the forum.

Bangladesh cricket team has now been given test status for some time now. The disappointing part is not the loss, but the fact that the have refused to learn and grow. They still deserve the test status that they have for they are the only side challenging outside the test nations, but there is clearly some overstimation on part of the team and the fans of its abilities. Zimbabwe was also a struggling test nation for some time, but they knew how to fight hard and how play withing their limitations. Sadly, they lost all their players for various reasons, but Bangladesh would do a lot to learn from Zimbabwe's achievements.

People might turn around and say, look at the last innings. BD fought hard. Yes, it was a better effort, but these are very easy conditions with the opposition two batsmen down. Do you believe Tamim as well as he played here an play the same way in NZ and score runs as an opener? I think not. They need a strong coach and a strict seleccion committee which only values committment and the ability to fight hard. If there was something to pick from the test matches, it was Shahdat Hossain, Rahim and Mahmudullah who showed all the qualities required at the international level. I am still not sure if Tamim can keep scoring runs this way.

The biggest disappointment is Sakib and Ash who are rated highly. But in my estimation, Sakib depends completely on conditions and lack the variations at this stage and Ash needs a season in county cricket I believe.

Anyhow, what is most heartening is to see BD brothers showing so much passion for the game. Believe me, it is only thing that will take BD to the next level. Thank you or entertaining me.

Biatches, listen, this should be the rest of the batting order:

(1. Tamim 2. Imrul 3. Zunaed 4.Shahadat 5.Ashraful)

6. Mushfiqur Rahim
7. Mahmudullah Riyad
8. Sakib Al-Hasan
9. Rokibul Hasan
10. Rubel Hossain
11. Shafiul Hossain

Rahim and Riyad are in form, and there is every chance they will perform again. Since Shahadat is already at the crease, it is very important for those two to bat higherup the order. Rakib is a good accumulator , apparently, so would also be ok down the order. But he has not scored much so far, so him being there is not a big sacrifice...

Told u!

Shakib needs to grow as batsman in test cricket... He plays too many shots, i think he needs to come lower in the batting order.

The thing that worries me about rock is that he seemed to be hurried by the Indian pacers...

In the animal kingdom, when a hyena clamp its jaws on a prey, only two things can make it release it: One is if an imminent danger threatens to seriously injure itself and the other is an earthquake. In contrary, when a Royal Bengal Tiger set its sight on bringing down a prey, only one thing can stop it and that is only very bad weather.

only problem is elephants are not prey for tigers. ;)

NZ has bouncy wickets, and BD players cannot play the rising ball, so defeat is looming again.
They will have a much harder time against NZ than against India.

January 27, 2010, 08:06 AM
Really well played by Bangladesh. It always happens to any team. Huge partnership followed by a collapse. That is what pressure does. Happens to Aussies, England, SA, India everyone. Actually Tamim himself was playing too many shots yesterday. Had he mistimed even one shot you would be blaming his impatience. It is about grinding opposition to the dust. Except Rahim none of the player has the temperament for Test cricket in every match. They show patience in one match then they throw it away in the next.

Better Mash does the cptncy.
because it's more dffclt for a btsmn.

Actually, there had been very few good bowler captains. Most of the good captains were batsmen. However, most of the good bowler captains were allrounders. Shakib has that going for him. But, if he continues to bat this way, he will be a specialist bowler pretty soon.

Uh, amid this blame game, please let us not forget who the REAL culprit is:

Shahadat Hossain.

You appear to be sarcastic. However, let me put Shahadat's stats anyway. He scored 40 and lasted 100 deliveries. If the other batsmen (Shakib, Raqib, and Riyad) managed the same, India might have been in trouble.

Siddons needs to concentrate on the batsmen to stay at least 60 deliveries, regardless of how much they score.

Finally, fielding was the real culprit. If we did not gift Sachin the century, we probably would have a lead of 200, even if India did not declare. India probably would still have won, but the uneven bounce might have made it difficult for the Indian batsmen.

shuziburo
January 27, 2010, 01:48 PM
i think Shakib should bat at Mahmudullah's position in test, and if Ash manages to stay in the team...then he should come in Mushfiqur Rahims place.

Rakib a NO NO for the moment. NAEEM should be called in ASAP.

Fully agree. Shakib and Riyad should switch place in tests.

I am sorry, but the politicians from both our major parties have other priorities in life. Just look at Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan. We all started from the same place from the British. Now one country is about to become a superpower, we are largely irrelevant, and Pakistan is basically a failed state. Bangladesh has been done in by the greed and lack of foresight of our politicians. India also had their share of corrupt politicians, but they still put the country ahead of their personal and party interest.

Our pacers will do better in NZ and England. But, theirs will do even better. Unless we learn to defend properly, we will struggle. If we continue to field this way, may Lord help us.
