Thought of starting a poll, but then we already know who will win it here ;)

Here is the stats for spinners since 2008 against G7, spinners that took at least 30 wickets in the period -

Hauritz holds best average in the period with the best strike rate. Shakib comes next with a good sr and econ. Other much talked about SLA, Vettori comes low in the list with a very high sr though he holds the best econ in the list. Herath actually can claim to be a better SLA with a higher average and sr. Harbi got most wickets in the period as he played more Tests than others did in the period.

Any thought?

BTW, Shakib got most fifers in the period - 5 out of 20 innings. Herath should be also applauded for taking 4 fifers out of 12 innings.

these test matches might give Sakib a chance to beat Hauritz and become number 1. yaaaaaaay!!!!!
If Shakib gets wickets in TEst matches, then we win. If he doesnt, then we lose. It's as simple as that

Here is the list for pacers in the period - http://stats.cricinfo.com/ci/engine/stats/index.html?bowling_pacespin=1;class=1;filter=advan ced;opposition=1;opposition=2;opposition=3;opposit ion=5;opposition=6;opposition=7;opposition=8;order by=bowling_average;qualmin1=30;qualval1=wickets;sp anmin1=01+Jan+2008;spanval1=span;template=results; type=bowling

You can see there are not many pacers who are maintaining strike rate in low 60s and average in low 30s. Hauritz, Shakib, Harbi, Mendis, and Herath have performed remarkably in the period as spinners!

That's not a thought, that's a brain fart :)

Vettory is at 10th position

I like Hauritz. He is a good spinner. Got many variations in his bowling.

Shakib will top the chart in the ICC rankings for long long time in a year or two. He needs to work on his variations though. Currently he relies mostly on his arm-ball to take wickets.

The bad news is that we won't play that many Tests from year '12 - '20.

Why? FTP not allowing too many games?

Mahmudullah could join the list, now he's taken 16 test wickets at 27.68

Riyad needs to get more accurate and have more variations to his bowling. It would be fabulous for him to learn how to bowl the doosra.Maybe we should get the Pakistani doosra inventor to teach it to him

Yeap. We are getting very few Tests and ODIs in this period.
