We see a lot of threads asking to bring back old players in the current team. But why not bring back old players as consultants. I mean we can see that Mushy’s keeping and Mushy as a keeper is not going anywhere…….there’s no sign of improvement and no sign from BCB to make any plan for improvement. Why not use Pilot as a consultant and see if he can help Mushy or any other upcoming WC.
Same goes for Rafiq. Its obvious that Razzak doesn’t know how to be deceptive in tests…the only reason he gets wicket is because he bowls a lot of overs. Why not have Rafiq guide him and all other young spinners through each series at a time….will it be that expensive? No, I say it’s BCB’s lack of foresight that are not letting these young talents bloom. I know asking for foreign help wil fall in deaf ears, but what wrong with using what we have locally?

I agree and it will be much cheaper. If BCB can afford it then a spin bowling and wicket keeping coach would be a better option. Something is always better than nothing

I am actually against such appointments. Ideally, we should not appoint anyone in consultation role or in coaching capacity who have not won things at the highest level. We may need to wait for a few years when successful retired players will emerge from current settings.
Amader deshe ekta kotha ache, jemon baap, temon beta.

This could be one reason why many fans often find unjustifiable selection decisions taken by our underachieved selectors.

I can understand your logic but I have problems with highest level you are referring to. Even if Rafik or Pilot didn't win anything at the highest level, but they have, especially Pilot, higher skills which can make Mushy a better keeper. Rafik may have never achieved the same level of recognition as Shakib but he can still teach a thing or two to our spinners.

Pilot will reach that level sooner or later but I doubt that Rafique has any future with any BCB role . The reason is simply because of Rafique's poor record with his temper and his short comings in interpersonal skills .

Why not indeed! Our guys need lessons in strip-club etiquette form Pilot, and lack of etiquette everywhere from Rafiq.

what you are forgetting is the players named here are the only "champions" bangladesh produced, only trophies bangladesh won has been by them, hence to say that they are not qualified since they didnt win anything is mind boggling.

the players we have today went through a lot of polishing before they got to the stage they are in, but older players didnt have that luxury and they had to polish themselves, hence they do know a thing or two which this batch of players can a learn a lot from.

How about bringing Pilot back as a wikcket keeper and have GoBoy concentrate on his batting. Goboy easily has the best technique of any of the Bangladeshi batsmen.

Your post sounds like an alien speech. How can pilot be in the present team as a player? As a consultant, ya! I think BD and MUSHY can get atleast something positive out of him.

Not sure what you mean. Consultant isn’t a degree that has to be earned going through a school or institution. They can be a consultant just because of their superior skills than the current bunch. All they need to know is how to express them selves.

Are they good coaches? Players yes, but coaches?

I don't know... but better than no specialist coach at all.

Mashud is a very good motivator. Team will surely be benefitted if they get him around. But not sure about Rafique. He was a good player but didnt have any captaincy quality.

They havent been tried in coaching before. Rafiques temper is messed. If he just learns to control that, he will be fine. And considering our current keeper, Mashud should come back as a player :P. But since thats not possible cause of our stupid selectors, all he can do is be a keeping coach now. SO hell yah. He can work with all the keepers, Baitta, Dhiman, Saghir, Mithun Ali etc.

But Mushy needs to be kicked out of keeping. It would be best if he just steps down himself. If he does, I am sure to a lot of people, his respect will go up a lot :D

Knowing and implementing are not the same thing. A good player doesn't mean that he would be good at coaching also.

Rafiq was a great bowler and he could read the batsman very quickly but his ability to make others understand is questionable.

Pilot doing good as consultant with Rajshahi team.

They need experience to handle players to teach them.

Rafique has always wanted to be a groundsman post-retirement.

Yes, his necessary training should be arranged by BCB.
I got a feelings that he would be a great groundsman.
