View Full Version : Should've dropped Bhimrul instead of Aftab

Aftab at least has talent and he played pretty well in the test match. he was unlucky in the 1st innings and was very patient in the 2nd until he went for that drive. Aftab can at least play some shots. Bhimrul is a complete joke of an opener. He looked so pathetic. all he was doing was looking to survive the short ball. You guys think all of a sudden he's gonna come back miraculously and be awesome at the short delivery. He is gonna have a torrid time just trying to survive and get out eventually with another low score and of course look completely out at sea all the while. They should've opened with Zunaid and Tamim. Whats the point playing Bhimrul he'll pat for 4-5 overs if he's lucky and then Zunaid will have to come in anyway.

lets see how zahurul plays, if he is an opener he can become the partner of tamim and ideally raqibul should come at number 4 in tests. we need solid players who can play long innings in test matches.

I think fishy guy has point. Aftab should be out, imrul is worst than him in test matches

wonder why razzaq is still in 2nd test
enamul should have been there

Yup that we definitely need in tests..if jahurul comes in and performs then he can open with tamim and once roqibul is eligible then he can come back..imagine how good our test lineup would be then? We would pretty much have no deadwoods..aftab is no test player and should just be in the T20 fold..imrul is clearly not ready for tests and needs to just be in odi's..we dont need so called talent in tests..we need players who have temperament and skill..imrul is a hard working player and will improve but he needs more time before he can be a test batsman..roqibul has been in bad touch in tests but remember that he was the 1 who got us out of the collapse and built that valuable partnership with shakib..shakib engineered that win 4 us but roqibul played the support role well..i really hope jahurul performs..we really need 1 or 2 more solid test batsmen..

Both are ordinary. This is imrul's last chance before the chop. He needs to play like his life depends on it like zunaed.

As fans we need to have a little more patience. You don't constantly shuffle players in a test team. I know Imrul's techniques are questionable, but he seems to be the only BD batter who has a good attitude and no ego. He faced new balls as well as good ball and got out to a good delivery and did not throw his wicket away. So If he is learning on the job better than others and shows some improvements match to match, why not keep him until the end of this series.
If you want to move Junaed to opener slot, let's first see if he is consistently scoring in the next few innings. I hope he didn't score an Ashraful-type Eid century!

This is obviously not a popular thread but i think fishyguy has a point..aftab did have a half century at least..imrul in 20 innings has only a 33 to show in tests..in the ncl aftab averages a 32 while imrul averages a 33..imrul has 2 centuries and 5 half centuries while aftab has 1 century and 6 half centuries..both of their overall FC average is same at 26..in my opinion neither should be playing..why not give someone like nazimuddin a chance? 40 average in ncl and 10 centuries and 20 half centuries in 53 matches..i think he should be there..ya he sucked in the odi's but hes better in longer version cricket compared 2 One days..i dont kno why bcb just cant have ODI specialists and test specialists..aftab and imrul should really be ODI specialists for now..

imrul now has two openers after him to backup.

anyway this should be his last chance.

the strange thing is... junaid who has lots of shots and can score quickly doing well in tests where he should be a better Odi player. and imrul who is not a stroke maker, who scores slow and should be a better test player, but he is failing in tests and doing better in odis

people are being way too harsh on Imrul, he has been a consistent performer for Bangladesh cricket. He has scored a century aganist NZ and now he scored a 50 against England, he will get back on form today with a 100. 2 days ago people were asking for Junaid's head, after his knockout century he shut his critics, now it's imrul's turn, time to show Imrul's brian lara class. remember you heard it from me first. Imrul = Lara (pure class)

I agree. Cannot keep suugesting to drop players so early in their careers. We gotta be patient to an extent.

Good, "Bhimrul" is not a respectable word for a test player.

The thread title is dis-respectful to our national player.
It is one thing showing this emotion in match threads or in discussions, but opening a thread with this name is dis-respectful.

Neither justifies his place. Bhimrul needs more A Team cricket and Aftab needs to play in the Special Olympics.

How many chances will it take to make the last chance? We are hearing this from India that "it is his last chance"

Aftab is darn sight better than Imrul. He is an excellent fielder too !

I hope the selectors and JS are not seriously thinking that Imrul will open on green English wickets. The guy is an embarrasement.

Aftab, after all, did score an 82 not not in England which was our highest score against England until Tamim's 86 and Junaid's 106.

Aftab averages 46 against England in England, the highest of any Bangladeshi.

Ya Atahar too played well in one Asia cup and scored 82. let him in now.

Fishguy, I salute you. The difference between Aftab and Imrul or Bhimrul as you say is Akash Patal. Aftab could do good against pace so can be an opener. That would have been great, left hand right hand combination. Even Shahadat is better than Kay in tests.

Make no mistake, Guys like Ash, Aftab may be dumb as wood, but they got talent in spade. I've seldom seen Aftab getting beaten. Most of the time he just throws it away.

And, what has Imrul done in tests so far ? People in glass houses should not cast the first stone. Imrul is a joke.

Imrul is on national duty, serving bangladesh in no man's land, he tried his best and failed. fullstop

No one is Ashraful, Ashraful is one.

Where the hell did Ashraful come from ? Consigned temporarily to the dustbin of history. I hope he comes back suitably re-educated. But Shakib, meanwhile, seems to be catching his disease.

Neither should be in the team..they both are not test material..would rather have imrul as he at least has shown promise..i wouldnt take that 82* that seriously..first of all that was long time ago and 2nd he hasnt scored a 50 since, so that innings looks a fluke..i hope they keep imrul just an ODI player..hes done very well in ODIs so far..i dont want aftab even in ODIs..keep him a T20 specialist for the world cups..overall we have better prospects for tests and we should use them..

 that was my tagline, you were suppose to comment on what I've said about Imrul, that was uncalled for. Shakib made 49, he played good cricket.
