I think following shots should not be allowed to play in test cricket by bd batsmen-
1. Sweep shot- Caused Shakib and Tamim to get out
2. Hook shots- always risky
3. Over the top
4. Any predetermined shot
5. Shots with extra effort
6. Any sixer
5. consecutive fours unless in case of gifted delivery

They should be demoted from their batting if they play any of these shots. Thats why I want demotion of Shakib from no 6 position to 7 as he is guilty for playing these type of shots in consistent basis.
Tamim Iqbal should not be subjected to this rule. He deserves clemency for playing freely as long as he is proved successfull.

sweep is the shot gets us out more.

we now have some good hookers so they can play this.

over the top, except mushfiq and tamim, they are good at these shots.

Any predetermined shot prohibited for all

I think for most batsman, the issue is lack of match practice in executing these shots against world class bowlers. Most of those balls were there to be hit, just that the excecution isn't perfect, for any match. The exceptions are Tamim, who just plays too many shots, and hence gets out, and Sakib, who cannot seem to keep his head cool. Sensible batting from either one of them could've put us in a great position...

The only player who should be allowed to play sweep is Mushy.

Good thread.
I don't like sweep shot or any other inventive shot that causes unnecessary dismissal.
Batting in Test cricket should be risk free, especially in the first innings. Sometimes our batsmen try to show off their talent by playing all these unnecessary shots. They probably try to prove that they can play all the shots in the book.

totally agree.. The very shot has dismissed shakib very many times in this test sereis and he still tries to play that shot repeatatively, even sachin himself check those shots which bothered him in any series. But our players despite knowing their wicket gifting shots they go for that very shot, just can't get it. What is hurry in test match that u need to play cross instead straight bat?

Even if they read it, do you expect them to go by it?
A bunch of players, who has no responsibility and most of all who doesnt learn from the past mistakes (especailly Sakib).

No paddle shots. The Sweep shot should be banned for Sakib. It seems like he gets out the most by playing the sweep

Sweep shots are fine as long you don't play it against spin, ie left handers need to be banned from sweeping offspinners or chinaman bowlers, and right handers need to be banned so against legspinners and SLAs.

Limiting a batsman's shots will hinder his progress. What our batsmen need to do is practice until they get the shot their having problems with right and they also need to apply whatever they've learned in real games. They need to stop pre meditating shots as that seems to be the main reason why our batsmen get out playing the same shot over and over again.

No shot in particular should be banned, but there should not be many premeditated shots in ODIs, and absolutely none in tests.. Sweeps/scoops/paddles all fall under this category.
