View Full Version : Is Razzak's career over?

After watching Razzak in last 6-10 months, i'm guessing he has become a horrible spinner in world cricket; bowls full toss, no turn, down the leg side,no flight, cant bat/field and etc.
I think his career is over, since there are alot of spinners who is in the pipeline to take his place.Such as:
-S. Shuvo (SLA)
-Arafat Sunny (SLA)
-Nabil Samad (SLA)
-Saqlain Shajib (SLA)
-Sabbir Rahman (LS)
-Nur Hussain (LS)
-Sakher Ahmed (SLA)
-Mahmud Hasan (OS)

The problem is you, me and fans are watching. The selectors are not. So the answer is "no"; not by a long shot. The selectors are at least a year behind. So after the World Cup 2011, we may see new spinners in his place.

I voted "Yes [his career his over], but he will come back strongly". Because that makes perfect sense./:)

I was never fan of him. I dont like chuckers. I hope ICC will ban all chuckers(Murali,Harbhajan, Ajmal etc)

That's the problem of all of us. He is a great ODI player and he performed well against England in odi
but he was never been a test player but we played him in test.
Now u want him out from odi?

he is still good, but there are better now, so its time for him to give room to the others, and go practice to become better...

I think he is doing just fine. It was a mistake by selectors to select him for the Test series, he is a bowler for shorter versions.

He's doing good. Always has. One test series and everyone starts baggin on him. Sheesh

I doubt he will continue for a long time. Many better spinners are knocking the door. He has become top 10 bowlers in the world to good to mediocre to really horrible now. They all have figured him out and he hasn't learned variations. I am almost certain that his career is over-just a matter of months.

i still mis his early day bowling.
consistent line and lenght. pitching on off middle and just a slight turn and hitting off or one-two inch outside off. and the lenght made batsmen guessing whether they get front foot or back foot. and he had LBW and Bold as his best weapon. also the arm ball was effective.
but then slowly he started to stray down legsides and recently starting to lose his length too. and now we have seen ppl trying to attack him as they give some respect to shakib and thinks raj is the weak link. that should have given raj more wickets but he is failing because he is presenting batsmen with oprions.
i wish he comes back.

He is a typical ODI specialist.I dont have enough confidence on this type of players. They have limited talent though become successfull and they lost overnight.Saqulain Mustak Michel Bevan was lost without notice.
Razzak did a decent job for our ODI team.He player superbly against Zim in last ODI series but did very poor in the Idea cup.Though he is a good bowler but it seems he is inconsistent. As he is an ODI specialist its very tough to say about his existance. You never know he may lost overnight aswell. But i wish he will stay long with performance. On the other hand some SLA like Suhrawardy,Suqlain Shozib,Elias Sunny are trying to grab his position. So i think hard time is coming for him.He need to be consistent.

It will be tough for him with his changed action. We have few potential SLA in Domestic (as per Kalpage), it will be tough for him to keep his place tight (I hope so)

No. his career isnt over, give him a break guys! He was never a test bowler so it was predictable that he would perform badly in tests, which he did. However, he is still one of our best bowlers in ODIs, and his record speaks for him,and he bowled pretty well against England in the one-days. Also, keep in mind he just returned from a change in action, so it takes some time to get back in shape and Razzak had to bowl alot in different situations and different pitches, like from the beginning of his career, he was the one who had to sometimes open the bowling with new ball or ball at the deathovers, which hardly, is a good time to take wickets but he tried his best for the team and still got wickets. I still rate Razzak a better bowler than Enamul Jr. in ODIs and even Shuvo who is supposed to be promising, Razzak is still better than Shuvo

Those chucking complains might have interrupted his improvement, rather, put him down. Since he came back from Australia, his performance never got back on track.

He still should get selected in ODI and 20/20, but he should have never been selected in test matches in the first place against england. shuvo should take his place in test, the way razzak bowls he will never take enough wickets in tests

Well, Razzak was the highest wicket taker and man of the match in the finals between BU and Chittagong Tigers, so how can his career be over? Let's hope his bowling improves in the NCL tournament.

The only ones to blame for his misery are those who enforced to change his bowling action. Comeon, look at Malinga, he does not even bowl properly

Razzak should be dropped as there are very few signs of him improving and give one of the youngsters a chance.

Well, we have no other option other than Razzaq at the moment. Well actually what our team needs is a classical off spinner, you know like Murali. SLA is our strenght, but not off spin. No wonder we are so poor against left handed batsmen

are you serious? we have shuvo, saqlain, nasir if you want an offie. give one of those guys a chance. shuvo has the record, he should be given a decent run imo.

I think every team needs a Murali.

We need to play him only in ODI and T20. He is not a test bowler and the selectors did wrong by picking him for the England Tests as opposed to picking Enamul Jnr.

Murali is the antithesis of classic offspin. He's a freak of nature.
Swann is a better example of classic offspin . Better than Harbhajan any day of the week.

Legendary off-spinner Erapalli Prasanna dont think harbhajan is a classic off spinner.
to him sharandeep singh was the only classic offspinner he has seen recently

With Harbhajan's windmill action, he's not likely win the award of most classic offspinner any time soon. He has loops, dips, turns. But he's not entirely accurate enough to conform with the books definition of an offspinner. Swann is everything Harbhajan can be and on top of that, he's accurate enough to not need much assistance from the turf.

Do not agree. He was good when he was chucking. He became ineffective after his action was corrected. Shahadat is going through some of it. He seems to be recovering from that.
