OK - this thread may be an epic fail if we beat the Aussies but I think it is very unlikely - we will probably lose by half a run or half a wicket but we will lose for sure as we don't know how to win a match.

Anyway, if we do play this one against the Hampshire, if anyone from here care to go? The only trouble is I am totally confused about the venue. According to cricinfo its going to be at Oval, Kennington, whereas according to cricetvillage site (http://cricketvillage.blogspot.com/2009/10/bangladesh-tour-of-england-2010.html) its going to be at rose bowl, Southhamptom. However, according to BBC (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/cricket/fixtures/default.stm), we are not even playing Hampshire but Surrey and it will be at the Oval! I just wish there is an official Bangladesh cricket site (tigercricket site is down at the mo) to tell us the correct info.

Well firstly Hampshire does not play in Oval. Surrey does. So BBC seems the most sensible of the sources. Although it would be nice to have a confirmation.

The Rose Bowl is in Hampshire (if we play there then we might have better weather). And The Oval is in London.

Whatever it is we won't play that match cause we would be playing the 2nd round of the WT20. Yes write it down.

The game is definitely in Oval barring T20 glory.

But I dont think its Hampshire as they are playing Somerset @ Rosebowl on 10th of May

Interesting thread.

Playing 3 days against county side is important before an English summer tour. Spending as much time as possible in the English condition is very important before test matches against the English.

So, we should not be upset if we lose against the Aussies. :)

ok. here we go.

would like to pick these team

imrul (he is the opener, so he is opening)
junaid (lets try him as replacement of imrul as opener)
jahurul (if junaid openes then jahurul moves to no 1)
mushfiq (he will captain the side, and bat at four as our best middle order bastman)
riadh
ashraful (i never like to comment about ashraful)
naeem
razzaq (lets see what he can offer)
shahadat (impress and grab the 3rd pacers slot)
robin (do)
rabiul (do)

rest
shakib: he has absorbed lots of physical and mental pressure, let him rest
tamim: let him recover completely
shafiul and rubel: they are first and second choice pacers, they would be doing bulk of the bowling, so also want to give them a rest and then play them in the next two warmpups

nahaz
May 6, 2010, 09:19 AM
My lineup:
1.Zunaed
2.Tamim
3.Jahurul
4. Riyad
5. Naeem
6. Mushfique
7. Sakib
8. Mahbubul
9. Shahadat
10.Rubel
11.Robiul

I would keep Shafi out as he needs rest and would be the 1st choice in specialist bowler. I'd keep Razzak out as he's hopeless in longer version..I pushed Sakib down to decrease his burden and expose couple of others esp. Naeem. A 4th pacer would let all 4 to warm up. Plus Shahadat may only be useful for 5/6 overs per ininngs. Worth sacrificing Ashraful for the 4th pacer here..If you swap Sakib and Naeem, that could be the best lineup for the country in the test matches.

Definitely rest Shakib and Tamim. Let Mushfiq take the reigns. Try out Robiul. Let Rubel get a hold of what should be his ideal kind of pitch. Let's see what happens.

Surrey squad to take on Bangladesh:
Arun Harinath, Matt Spriegel, Rory Hamilton-Brown (captain), Usman Afzaal, Laurie Evans, Tom Lancefield, Gary Wilson (wicket-keeper), Chris Schofield, Stuart Meaker, Matthew Dunn, Simon King, Tom Jewell
Obviously you can't expect them to play their Best XI in the middle of the county season in a match that means nothing to them. So no surprise that some big names have been rested. But it won't be easy for our boys. It hasn't been long since they landed in London. Hamilton-Brown, Afzaal and Schofield are the ones we should be wary of.

They will not be suffering from jet lag, it is only a 4 hr flight northeast to London, so they should be fresh, seems Surrey wants theit second string players to have a bit of match practice. I hope Shakib visits his county team.

honestly did not think much of robiul but hes done very well so far..picking up 3 wickets but hes been very expensive as well so that is a big worry as this is only a club team..also think we should have had shafiul playing instead of alam or shahadat..hes gonna be 1 of our main bowlers and we needed 2 test him out..

I am really glad that all 4 of the pace contenders (other than the shoe-in Shafiul) got a chance to feature in this warm-up match. An interesting point to note would be how they operate together with the spinners and amongst themselves. So far, really good. I think the tactic should be to swap the worst performer with Shafi for the next match. In the final warm-up, Shafi again will play. From the warm-ups, we select three pacers (or four, if need be).

Rabiul Islam is looking very impressive in his first outing. He should definitely all warm-ups, and if his current figures of 35/3 off 8 overs are any indication, he may just sneak in as 4th pacer in the first test. Very early to be sure.

I am glad Razzak has been kept out. He would be a waste of space right now in tests. My XI for first test from early data: 1. Tamim 2.Zahurul 3.Ashraful 4.Shakib 5. Mahmudullah 6. Mushfique 7. Naeem 8. Shafiul Islam 9.Mahbubul Alam 10. Rubel Hossain 11. Rabiul Islam

Shahadat needs to prove why he should play ahead of any of 9-11. Imrul needs to score big against good place to qualify, which would take Ashraful out. I'd rather have 4 pacers than have both Imrul and Ashraful and Razzak is a waste. Each of the 4 pacers can contribute. Would be interesting to see Ash and Imrul perform in the warm-ups.

thats the way.

we need to win this and to force a result in 3 days we need to bowl them out then quickly get a lead of 200 and then bowl them out again.

but if a result is not possible then may be we should let all our batsman get some batting practice and play a big long innings

mahbubul alam robin is certainly the most capable bowler to extract swing and seam from the pitch or conditions. so there is no fault saying he is the best swing bowler.

but not only swing and seam makes a bowler get good stats. he still needs to bowl the ball at good lengths and lines. that is where he has problems.

like rubel may be the best reverse swinging bowler. but still u have to pitch at a right line and length to get the maximum results

We're full of these bowlers who are "Best at this" and "best at that", yet none have anything to trouble any quality opposition. Syed Rasel bowls in a very similar fashion to Robin, yet has contributed to us winning a few matches. Mahbubul just bowls so many pathetic deliveries in an over, that one good ball is just not worth it, as it doesn't always pick up a wicket either.

Not good performance...this kind of 2nd string side from Surrey should have been bowled under 250...how the hell a #8 batsman of this kind of team can score 94!!!...pacers have to be more consistent..some of their economy rate suggests they were not consistent or else they could easily bowled out them.....concerned about our spinners over there..dont looked like a threat in English cond at all

I was there for about 3 hours today towards the end. It was the most ordinary & boring bowling and fielding attack i have ever seen. Bangladesh did not have a clue what to do with number 6 & 7. Most players were gaurding the fields with their hands in the pocket and was giving away silly boundaries. Very disappointing! Bangladesh does not deserve to win or even draw this.

al Furqaan
May 9, 2010, 03:48 PM
we should expect to score around 400...but i suspect players are still in vacation/practice match mood and this would explain the massive recovery by an under par Surrey side.

anyway whatever surrey squad it is, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, still they have professional players. they were professional about their job. and our guys are not professional. they thought that the no 6,7,8 will throw their wickets... but the surrey guys knew that the still can score big.

and why lot of people surprised that a No 8 batsman got a score of 94 ??? these days lots of team has decent batsman in no 8 and no 9. don't we expect big innings from raidh/naeem or shahadat/ shafiul ???

I really do care about the practice matches. This should show what we can expect in the series. Those who think that we can do much different against their best 11 than practice matches with secondary teams, are just devoid of reality. You can always ignore unpleasant truth and build a castle of hope and everytime your hope breaks like a deck of cards, you just have to find out some reason for the defeat or make a scape goat.

We had been living that unreal fans life for quiet sometime now...

the wicket of imrul was the MAIDEN wicket in FC matches for laurie evans

evans, mainly a batsman, playing his 7th FC match. and this was the first time he got to bowl. and got the wicket with only his seventh delivery in FC career

if we consider either of imrul and jahurul will open with tamim, then i think its advantage jahurul now with imruls failure.

yes its surrey.

the confusion was created by cricinfo, who intially pubished hampshire as our opponent.

u can see some more faults in cricinfo. the have listed SA A for two more FC matches with BD A, where actually WI A will play BD A

Lol.

I was not so upset about the Australia loss because I thought this match was (kind of) more important. After reading about the bowling and fielding and seeing that Surrey actually declared, sad to see the players don't think so.

imrul toiled, got boiled (knw temp. is around 11 degree) then collapsed after a 57-ball struggle.

i am ashamed to claim he is our 2nd best opening batsman

well jahurul just got his :50:. looks like he can replace imrul if given the chance to adapt, the same amount of chance imrul got.

jahurul plays the spinners well.

so in an ODI. jahurul can open with tamim. while tamim is blazing he can just play on singles. when spinners come on tamim can play singles and jahurul can takeover this hitting
