Mine would be the same except I'd hae Robiul in instead of Mahbubul. Why did you not have him in there? If its to rest him, its sort of understandable. However, if Shafi isn't 100% from his injury yesterday, I'd just slot Robiul in instead of Shafi. Looks like we both agree on leaving out Razzak and Imrul..most of the forum agrees I think..but questions is whether the selectors understand our concern.

I like your Squad but I want Shamsur Rahman and Jahurul both play instead of Naeem, Naeem can never get his form back in English swinging conditions, he needs to practice hitting sixes to Shahadat more in the nets for a year ro two.

should we risk tamim ???? if no then both Jahurul and Shamshur plays. otherswise drop ashraful to make place for both shamshur and jahurul. ashraful has had enough batting practice. i still think all other batsmen needs more practice.

bowling wise i would like to see robin play. dont know who to drop. may be either shafiul or rubel who is not fit. so my team

Omi
shuvo
imroze
motin/tamim (if tamim fit he opens, shamshur plays at four)
chokka (let him bat a bit higher)

Why it is so hard to get over w/ Naeem?

why should he get dropped from the Test team because he did horrible in the world T20? Take a look at his scores from the recent test series against England, and also remember that he was batting at number 9.

we shud def. play robiul - i dont care if he has crap consistency, he obviously has some great balls as demonstrated by the last two practice matches, he shud play ahead of rubel (similar pace but robiul seems to be more effective in wicket taking)

that was BD and this is England - completely different conditions!
I wud rather play a specialist batsman over naeem

In my opinion, if Naeem played at a position in the batting order where a batsman should bat, he could be our specialist batsman.

Exactly.

As for his current out-of-sortedness, I'd pass it on as a temp loss of form. I wouldn't keep him in my XI for the first Test, but that doesn't make him a reject for life like many here would like him to be.

I don't understand why some people here despise him. He has a great FC record behind him and looks a great batsman when out there. I'm telling you, if he could get a chance to play at number 4 in our Test XI, it'd be raining centuries.

Shakib will get at least another week to recuperate from chicken pox, they should not risk Tamim in this match, another week's rest will do wonders for his wrist. He can practise in the nets.
All BD should do is to try to play well and this is a much needed 4 day practice match.
Shamshur may not arrive in time, but this morning I heard that the airspace over Europe is open.

As an England fan I’m looking forward to this game, it gives some of our most promising players on the fringes of selection a chance to shine against a Test nation.

I think they will line up

1) Michael Carberry – You might remember he made his Test debut in Bangladesh a few months ago.

2) Alastair Cook – First choice opener alongside Andrew Strauss, selected to give him more experience of captaincy.

3) Moeen Ali – Captained England at the 2006 U19 World Cup. Slow start to his county career but now he’s starting to fulfil his exciting potential.

4) James Taylor – Like Ali, Taylor is a very talented middle order batsman. Though he has not played as well as he did last season.

5) Andrew Gale – The captain of Yorkshire has made a good start to the season. However he probably isn’t good enough to play at Test level.

6) Steve Davies – Third choice wicketkeeper behind Matt Prior & Craig Kieswetter. Davies is a solid batter but needs to develop his glove work.

7) Chris Woakes – Woakes is a bowling all rounder. He uses the conditions intelligently but there are doubts about whether he has the pace for International cricket.

8) Liam Plunkett – Has already played in Tests & ODI for England. I doubt he has the accuracy to make it but he’s still young.

9) James Harris – Turned 20 on Sunday. One of the best prospects for England, he is very accurate as his first class bowling average of 28.08 shows.

10) Steve Kirby – Not sure why he’s been selected. He’s a good county bowler but at 32 years old he is unlikely to ever represent England.

11) Monty Panesar – Well known left arm spinner who’s trying to work his way back into the side after Graeme Swann has taken his place.

I am most interested in seeing how Ali, Taylor, Woakes & Harris do. Hopefully it does not rain.

The lions look healthy and strong. Seems would be an interesting warm-up match!

Yes, we could have. But the thumb rule is that, when a out of form batsman starts scoring, let him play as much as possible.
Also, after losing to Essex in 3 days, team management is not brave enough to exclude Ashraful ++ Sakib is also not playing. Who wants to be embarrassed twice and morally down before the test match?

Whole point of your question is the exclusion of Nayeem, right? By looking at the team today, I feel team management is giving a serious thought of playing Jahurul as a middle order in place of Nayeem. May be that is the reason of his exclusion.

(in between jahurul, hits :four: & :four: within 3 deliveries)

I am with this top-order.
But as Sakib is there, I want to drop a pace bowler and include another batsman.
Who should be the extra batsman? From available options Nayeem/Imrul/Shuvo, Nayeem should be the choice.

Tough call really, as both Nayeem and Imrul has less chance to score, but they are the one what we have. To me, it gives us better balance than going with 4 pace bowlers if Sakib is there.

It's ok, these are just warm-up games. We're not used to playing in such cold conditions and as we all know, our guys aren't the best adapters. There's enough time ahead of the Tests for them to acclimatize.

We're in England - anything in excess of 300 in the Test matches should be good enough, seeing that we struggle to do that even at home.

So we are good enough to get 30s and 40s individually in these conditions but not 90s or 100s?

I see your point about the condition!

Test Average in the England series: (Original is posted)

Overseas record dips even for Tendulkar, Ponting, Kallis, Lara.

Tamim 36 will dip by -5 or more
Imrul 13.18 will go up 3+ or more
Junaid 25.9 will dip -3 or more
Jahurul 21.5 will dip -3 or more
Ashraful 22.78 will dip -10 or more
Riyad 42.33 will definitely dip -10 or more
Mushi 28.94 will dip -10 or more
Shafiul 18.42 will dip -5 or more
Raj 15.66 will dip -5 or more
Total: with extra of 10 runs innings score for the average is 235 which would go down by holy cow!!! 190 per innings. 1 and a half sessions each innings. The match should go to third day!!
