View Full Version : Saqib's captaincy

I am observing Tamim's captaincy. He isn't a good captain. It just proves that BCB has done wrong putting Habibul in retirement. We don't have any good captain. I don't know how good a captain is Mashrafe and Ash isn't good either. We need good captain and what it is all about changing players with new players. We did that in the begging of test career of bangladesh. But that step is over now. Now we should have only experience players on the national side. We have to stop bringing new players instead of experienced ones. Now that tactic is over. Just look at the example of india, srilanka, specially Australia, new zealand, england, and south africa. These countries have players who are over 30 and they are functioning well for the team. We have to take that path. And I hope BCB does that.

You mean Shakib? This man is our go-to bowler (only quality test bowler), occasionally our go-to batsman and captain at the age of 23. He will learn but I know he will get better. He's just the kind of person who tries hard and is determined to learn. He will learn no doubt about it.

Only thing i have to complain about todays play is how he did not attack very much close to end of the day/after tea (I mean thats when I started to watch, IDK what happened after that...). He should've attacked more when a new batsman came in, Prior.
1 more wicket right then could have exposed the tails. Now these two current batsman will try to build on this and (hope not) will put up a big partnership. That's how we lose games, we let it slip. We are afraid to attack. We feel shy to dominate and take control of things

I just wanna know, how can you mix up Shakib with Tamim??
Oh and another thing on Shakib captaincy, he sets his fielders for bowlers bad bowling (as you may have heard commies say this in the 1st Test and this test), not according to the game plan. He should set a field and ask his bowler to bowl according to that, not the other way around. And if the bowler can do that, he shouldn't be bowling

Shakib is not a bad captain, he is cool and calm and have control over players. I don't like his toss decision. If he wins toss he will choose what we will never expect.

Shakib is a decent captain. If he had 11 Shakib's in the team, he would go for attack as well. But sometimes I feel he does not believe in the bowlers[can you blame him?]. Thats why even when there is a new batsman walking in, Shakib has to set 2 boundary riders to ensure no easy runs are scored. for instance, if Razzak could control every ball he bowled, Shakib would be able to put in more close fielders.

Ok fine he doesnt believe in his bowlers, what about when he was bowling? He had 4 fielders on the rope, and KP had just walked in. So are you saying he doesnt believe himself? I thought you just said we need 11 Shakib in the team. So he must be good, and good enough to believe in himself. Correct?
We dont need 11 Shakib in the team. We just need 1 Shakib, who has confident in himself.

The issue is not shakib's capitancy : he can't do anything if the bowlers are not good enough

Yeah, totally I agree, Tamim is not a good captain. Why(when) did BCB make him a captain?
And Habibul Bashar is a complete waste of a space in the playing 11. He couldn't provide the team with any runs or support for the National team last couple of years of his career. You cannot occupy a valuable national team spot just solely just on specialist "captainship" skill.

many of us got obsessed with TI the way he is playing nowadays...
anyway,if Ash without performing can be a captain for so long than Sakib's time has just started.
Sak is a good captain,he will learn more with time & be more attacking.
