is it just me or did Razzak lost some weight? I wish Klusner was here already. Since we are gonna get him no matter what we might as well get to work with him as soon as possible.

Important topics pass by with no comment or fan input as they get buried under the rolling avalanche of "official" threads.

So happy to see that, but all's well that ends well.
My only concern is, too many good things in too short a time may be suicidal.

From what I read on the other newspapers, the players are in 3 groups, bowling, fielding, and batting..the batsmen used to bat in the nets for 30 minutes a session but now they are going to bat 2 hours..in the nets they just play 2 types of shots and then once they go on the center wickets they can play any shots they want..Siddons will also work with them more individually on how to play different types of shots and work on their weaknesses..Fountain is going to work on how to field better obviously..its just a more in depth training and basically fixing up the weaknesses of the players..seems like its a good type of training but obviously we all want to see results..hopefully the players have a good showing against the Kiwis..

to be specific ... in one net they were practicing Pull and Slog, and another net they were practicing sweep and reverse sweep. i think the type of shots will vary day by day.

for bowlers Siddons have prepared a pitch and marked several zones at different line and length. he has asked the bowlers to concentrate on building up the consistency of putting the ball at a zone and keep away from some zones. the zones are different for different spinners and pacers.

Are the domestic / club teams doing this type of training? Because that would make a huge difference at the grass root level. Are they even training in the off season at all? Man, it's about time they train in the off season instead of "two weeks before the season begins".

Sorry to say that domestic clubs don't have the necessary facilities to put togather this type of training programs hence training sessions. The fielding practice/physical training are better nowadays, beacause of new technics. Bowling and batting are still as it was years ago.

So, are we going to have Lance anytime before the world cup? He was the most devastating all rounder I've seen in one day cricket. I still get haunted by the memories of his run out (by Donald) in the world cup semi-final (1999).

thats why decentralization of BCB is needed. domestic team should have their own academy, stadium and training facilties. not only the 7 divisional team, big towns like Mymensingh, Comilla, Jessore can also be included. start of every domestic season this type of training should be launched. domestic coaches under the guidance of national coaches will direct the training.

also divisional or district age group teams should have such camps.

Good, get him to start working straight away..on Lotus Kamal. Maybe he can clear his mind...and break him the news slowly...Klusener was never coming.

Next he can work on Tamim, then Mashrafee (his injury worries), Shakib (his carelessness), Shahadat (too temperamental) and Mushy (that kid's got problems..hence chirps too much).

Oh yes, and Ashraful.

From the article I did not get the changes in the coaching for fielding. Hard work is not everything when fielding is concerned. The players need to be fit to gain in reflexes and move quickly in the field; and then they need to 'love' fielding. Catching etc. come automatically. Fielding is more often a team-property than an individual thing. So, the placement of the right fielder at the right position at the right situation is important. For example, Ricky Ponting or Rahul Dravid have to practice reflex catches more than the ground fielding at the boundary. I do not know if teams do practice taking those things into consideration.

Golf is the new cricket
Sports Reporter
In a new innovation, the national cricket team will engage in a few rounds of golf as part of their preparations for the upcoming five-match one-day series against New Zealand.

The Tigers have been preparing for the series in October, under the guidance of coach Jamie Siddons.

But this time the Australian has incorporated some new techniques as part of the preparation with an eye on the 2011 World Cup. And playing golf at the Kurmitola Golf Club seems to be the newest addition to the list.

"All the players have been asked to go to the Kurmitola Golf Club tomorrow. I don't know whether it will be just fun or if there is anything else. Let's see what happens tomorrow. But it's something new in practice," said captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza.

Coach Jamie Siddons however confirmed that the players are going to play golf to have some fun and at the same time get some crucial batting practice, since the cricket back-lift is similar in nature to the golf swing.

"It's just to have some fun," said Siddons over telephone last night

The players will go on Eid vacation soon after practice on Wednesday.

The selectors are likely to announce the final squad from the 26-member probables before the vacation.

I think the idea behind this is that if they can hit the ball good with a bat as thin and small as the golf sticks (whatever you call them), their timing is only likely to get better when they'd try hit it with cricket bats. Hmmmm..

September 7, 2010, 12:33 AM
The idea of playing golf to improve batting, e.g, improving the backlift, is laughable. Pure waste of time and money. Golf may be for the relaxing purpose, not for learning cricket. Cricket is a different game, needing different technique and different level of concentration. Having high backlift is not always the best thing. Feeling ease is what a batsman needs. If the eye does not synchronize, unnecessarily high backlift makes a batsman prone to be late in playing his shot, an easy candidate for getting bowled or LBW.

To be honest....I dont think it was a definite truth.
But I know Loitta treated him (Shakib) very badly at the dressing room after the defeat against Mohamedan in the final match (T20). Along with his arrogant personality, our natural hatred against BD politicians puts him in BC's hit list.

We have been eagerly waiting see the impact of this so called new training manual. The time will certainly reveal whether the training manual or the executioners are at fault.
