The question is not what you think will happen but rather what should happen based on our cricket today. What would be a result that would reflect where we should be/want to be in your opinion.

A few things to keep in mind

- Home advantage
- Lost to NZ 2-1 in a competitive series last time around
- No Tamim
- Coach believes we are capable of winning the series
- Continuation of the Mash era
- Shakib with more experience from county
- Shakib with no cricket break this whole year
- A nice rest for the team
- A good amount of international cricketing experience in 2010
- New coaches but less Sujon

If Tamim played then I think we would have a decent chance at winning the series..without Tamim playing though I really can't see us beating NZ 3 times even though it is our conditions..I believe we should push for 2 wins though since we beat them once last time they toured and also we had a decent chance of beating them in the 3rd ODI in NZ..but winning even a game against the Kiwis will be very tough for us..we're gonna need to put a very good effort in all departments if we want to beat them..

less drop catches please. Better bowling performance. Since we got two new coaches in those area. Those should automatically translate to better performance and create chances and push us in to winning positions, barring the batting/strategy making don't falter.

Expecting something good from Riyad at home.

I'm afraid, the wont get enough time till the NZ series to work those out.
Again on improvement,
Expecting slight, rather significant.

It is even more challenging now to setup own expectation as Shakib could not display his batting touch in the county cricket.
Good thread to bolster the perplexing issues on our con-current dogmatic batting line up.

No Tamim :( The team lacks batting depth as Shaki out of form as well (batting wise). I'll be happy to see 4-1 for NZ.

No less than Tigerwash.

Thats the spirit !!
Pura TigerDholai.

On a serious note, if we are to be any formidable team in the world cup, this is the series where we have to make our mark. A series win would make everyone take a serious note and doing anything good in the world cup would not be considered a once in a while fluke.

I want to win the series.
Very hard without Tamim, but lets make this the turn around series for us.

expectations - 5-0 in favor of bangladesh
reality - 5-0 in favor of the kiwis
series will end with endless rues regarding tamim's injury.
shakib will still be searching his batting form. might surrender his no.1 ranking to afridi
abdur razzak wud continue to bowl leg-side gifts

jamie would be searching positives after every match

Poll is way too confusing. I have multiple expectations. I expect to see batsmen maintain averages over 30, a few centuries, improvement in bowling and improvement in fielding and also want to see at least 2 wins. Are they exclusive? And whats the difference between "2 wins" and "One or 2 wins before a series loss?" Anyways I managed to vote somehow.

4-1 should be fair enough. Everything depends upon the bowlong department.

That's why multiple choices are allowed.

Diff is winning matches to keep series alive as opposed to wining a meaningless game 4 or 5 after series is already over and other team feels less pressure to win

We need to stay realistic while setting targets and goals which are achievable. JS is likely to keep his doctrine of individual improvements well in the upcoming series against NZ even though any victory on BD side will certainly please everyone.However, He might seek winning strategy in the next series against ZIM in run up to the WK.

THIS IS IT!

If you want to prove your mettle you better do it now. Winning this series will take a buoyant team on a high to WC. This series will be a prelude to their performance and I expect nothing than win.

Want to enjoy and experience some real kick-ess performance and action! What else, I would like to see centuries by the homeboys and also want to see many many enemy wickets!!

P.S. Dear mod bhais and admins, Salaam, can we please nzfan released around this time....it would have been fun with him being around during this 5 ODIs tour. Maybe he can be forgiven and pardoned and let back in. Thank you dear bhais,

Expecting
Bowlers to all bowl at lightening speeds, Hatricks and 5 ers in each game
Fielders to fly like Eagles & convert 6 shots into catches
Batsmen to score only 50s and 100s @ atleast one 4 & one 6 in each over

And good crowd with smart & cute spectators, clapping, singing and dancing as we smash the Kiwis down to dusts with utter brutality. And then want to see Kiws enjoying their stay in Dhaka & Ctg and our hospitality & express their earnest desire to come back soon for another series.

Finally a bijoy michil headed by Sk Hasina, calling it the "Bongo Bondhur Shopno Puron"

Hah... Then i can feel happy and enjoy my coffee with some peace of mind to find out who was falling short of expectations & who needs to be replaced in the team. ;)

Not sure about the series win but atleast 2 win sounds fair. Series win will be awesome (not sure if able without tamim). Expecting a century or 2 from Big Z since he seems to be in form. For Nafees ... just stay alive for the first 10 over damet!!!

Realistically speaking, one win is what Bangladesh should achieve in their home conditions. And two wins are well within Bangladesh's reach if they play well in all departments on two given days.
BUT
if I were in the Bangladesh team, my expectation would be to win every single game, you go out there to win not to lose. The team should target to win each and every single game they play, otherwise....why play?

ok,i am expecting 2 wins but practically speaking,i think it might be just the one win this series.however,i would want to see better and much improved fielding and fewer dropped catches.i want to see shafiul and rubel bowling in the tightest line and best length possible,fewer over steppings by rubel.i want to see some decent scores on the board even if we lose a few games and most importantly a run rate OVER 6 in the batting powerplay!!!!

I voted for 'One or 2 wins before a series loss'.
My main expectation will not be fulfilled though. I want to see them playing as a team, not as individuals running for useless personal milestone only. Being a team man should come before being selfish to be in the team.

Actually it's the other way around. They bat deep but sans vettori, their bowlers now are not threatening. But sure, batsmen will make them look so. :(

positive thing: coach has faith on team now and their capabilities, which was rare scene.

i have full faith in siddons, he doesnt talk BS, so i am hopeful

Bd team's strength:
tamim +shakib========= 50%
rest============ ======40%
mushfiq's catch miss=== -10%
mashrafe's slog over====-10%
power hitter===========-10%
--------------------------------------------
total================= 60%

with this 60% plus coach's confidence, we might win 2 games, out of 5

seriously, i want the kiwis to attain the Glory of being the 1st Major team to lose a series against us.
we've been waiting for too long.

india, , fullstrength w. indies, sri lanka, new zealand, england all came too close but some how escaped the 'feat' mostly by the skin of their teeth.

this time, i don't want the kiwis to get deprived of the honor

we have got to show them the highest level of our hospitality and, in turn, get ourself prepared for a Zimbo whitewash so that we are at our menacing best for the world cup

Expecting Bangladesh to lose all their matches. Tigers are getting washed.
Imrul Kayes as usual will make sure we have a slow start. he might score a century of 150+ balls. I Hope he gets injured and Nazimuddin gets a chance.
Ashraful to score at least 3 centuries.
Rubel, Shaiful, Mashrafe will again be ineffective.
Sakib will suck with the bat but will be economical with the ball.
Riyadh will drop 3 catches every single game and look like a donkey.

Such negativity from BD forum fans.

We should all hope that the team performs better, they did well against the Kiwis in NZ, here they are on their own turf, and with over a week and half of training left, especially with fielding and bowling, they will perform better in BD than what they did in New Zealand.
Remember, they did beat England in one ODI and that was in England. Hoping to see some good cricket, and with all the coaches in place, the boys will be fired up.

I think that losing the first three games should definitely be considered below expectation and seal this series as a failure.

The team should be determined to make a series out of this and aim to take it to the 5th game tied as 2 apiece.

Please no more goals of honorable defeats or celebrating centuries (as a team) or a total that was not a winnable total to begin with.
