nice read. Thanks for sharing.

I liked when Sakib said he enjoyed professionalism without hype... I always pictured Sakib as that type of person and firmly believe this is one of the core reason why he succeeded.

I am so proud of our dear Shakib!
All the best to this guy!

A few things about Shakibul and what the WCCC fans think in their forum, they all think of him as a very modest, level headed, polite and down to earth but at the same time a very confident young athlete/individual! We couldn't have a better Ambassador/Flag bearer for Bangladesh to the rest of world, England or Worcestershire County than this Shakib of ours!

Shak really is an ice-man. His biggest liking for county is the level-headed professionalism.

Thanks offstump for your relentless and endless upbringings for us, the passionate BCites.
It is very nice to see the flamboyant Ice Man like a 'Bangla Bradman' and his enigmatic county lifestyle.
Hope, one day he will take us to a new and wornderful destination, to remember and cherish.

Believe it or not, I just became a Shakib fan now... 5 wicket hauls for the country were always good to watch. County performances were impressive. But the fact that he actually prefers the no-fuss approach is what has just sold him to me... (180 degrees with Tamim, which is not necessarily bad)

Its very hard to find Bangladeshi players that think this way in the current team. Like someone said, think this is why he was successful in county, and successful in international cricket. If only he had fixed his batting...but maybe he will go way past vettori in bowling and maybe even go past murali.. important question is will he be able to turn into an individual matchwinner against the G8?

match-winner is a purely individual term, IMHO.

it has nothing to do with whether the team actually wins or loses. its abot whether one man can impact a match sufficiently that if he has some support from his teammates, they win the game.

as such, shakib is a definite match-winner, as is tamim. ash used to be capable of a match winning knock every now and then, just as rajib is with the ball. but they are nowhere near consistent. junaid, jahirul, imrul are right now just support players. hopefully one day they will be able to win matches on their own. mushfiq is a very solid player who i want to see give up the gloves and bat at no 4 in tests, where he can be our tendulkar.
