View Full Version : BCB allowed NZ to practice in the center pitch of Mirpur Stadium Ground.

BCB allowed NZ team to practice in the center pitch of Mirpur Stadium Cricket Ground, where five ODIs will take place this month.

This is simply outrageous. Even Razzaq, in an interview with the BD media admitted that it was not a good decision by BCB, and furthermore, BD team never got any practice opportunities in the center pitch or in the match pitch before the match in any countries around the world.

I am just trying to find a rationale behind it, is it a unique sign of BD hospitality, or some BCB personnel were bribed, or simply it was a loose decision.

If BCB does not nip in the bud events like this, then more embarrassment and loss are coming to BD team.

Yup, I can't stand it when my family does something nice for guests that come to our house as well. Maybe BCB can make up for it by not putting a bathroom in the Kiwi dressing rooms during the matches

Your comment is too generic.

I always appreciate if my family does something good to our guests. But there is a fine line between should and should not about some basic things, usually accepted around the world.

In this situation, host countries never allow the visiting opponents to practice in the match pitch before the match.

And your second sentence is a bizzare idea that never happened in the sports world.
Secondly, this is not the way you can compensate to the loss.

So you completely missed the thread purpose.

Razzak is upset beacause New Zealand practiced in center wicket. Which took place yesterday (02/10) but today Bangladesh were practicing in center. So its all fair and square, Kiwis wont have any excuse after they loose the first game.

Just presuming: Razzak wanted to surprise Kiwis on first ODI and win that match, but does he not know this is 5 match series and Kiwis would have known about the pitch after first game anyway.

FagunerAgun I agree with you. BCB is worthless.... It doesn't have any brain. Do not care about our own interest rather than trying to keep good relationship with foreign cricket teams. Just reminded me the incident of Shakib and Lotus Kamal. This should be stopped for the sake of Bangladesh cricket and this moron Lotus Kamal should step down.

I have a feeling now that Siddons is almost upto that point where he'd even take a hefty paycut provided the Board does what he tells them to provide. What a bunch of idiots in the BCB. And since they refused us to practice in the center wicket, why should we let them? I remember couple of tours ago were the New Zealand players not bad-mouthing about the country (Richardson)? Pissing them off would have been exactly what we needed to get some parity for this series. Instead...this is just ridiculous. Maybe Siddons can punch Lotus in the face when he leaves the job (inevitably having been accused of doing a bad job)...

They won't learn. Earlier this year they arranged a practice match at the venue of the 1st Test for England. And who are NZ to give us conditions? We arranged two practice matches and they got washed out. Just move on! No need to feel apologetic. Teams have played matches without practice before. The stupidity must end.

well its alright cos BD players or in any touring nations hardly get center wicket practice which is normal , but at the same time if you are skilled and professionally capable you can beat any team in any conditions which should not be a problem. SO its better they start playing now its going to be a real test for BD players to do something.

Even better, why dont we replicate the WACA style pacer friendly pitch, since we are so generous host.

Said so, that would affect very little in the 5 match series.
If we need to win the series, we need to win it beating them while playing the game.

problem was BCB was sacred that NZ will bad mouth about BCB. as there were no rain the grounds should be good enough for playing but other than mirpure no other ground got play ready even after 3/4 days heat. and hence from stopping them from complaining BCB did this...

Razzak was right to say this. He is frustated because BD was never ever allowed to practice in center wicket when they toured other country. BCB was too kind to arrange two practice match against two strong teams which unfortunately for Nz washed out. BD always play against some para-quality team when they are touring. BCB body is too weak to turn down the request of Nz.

There is a lot of thing I fault BCB for but being accomodating and nice to other countries is not one of them. Of all the things to be upset about, this seems very trivial to me.

The NZ board in the past has always been friendly to us and with them having all their practice matches rained out, this is not a big deal. Like others have said this won't impact the outcome one way or another. If we play as a better team we will win, otherwise we will lose. We can draw up all the excuses we want but our own match preparation should be our focus.

And for all the unbalanced treatment of us by IND, AUS and ENG will not change unless we earn that by either or 2 ways. (1) prove we are a lucrative market economically and/or (2) prove we can hold our own in matches by winning more often.

BCB have to make good friendship with NZ board so they invite us to play in NZ. Otherwise Tigers will be sleeping 6-7 months (could be more in some years) at home without any games every year from 2012 to 2020.

Today, as per The Ittefaq. Vitori blamed BCB for their first ODI loss, he blamed because NZ could not play the practice matches in BKSP.

But the BKSP curator said the pitch was good but out field was wet, and Vitori decided not to play the practice matches to avoid any player injury.

He did not mention at all that BCB allowed them to practice in the match pitch two days before the match.

The BCB do a great job - better than any other institution in Bangladesh, and better than either the Australian Rugby Union or the ARL. They hire a coach and management staff, and get the hell out of the way.
