Disclaimer: Only the non-minnow bashing are included. Only the first test win vs. West Indies is included because of the iffyness of the second string pack. Couldn't find the Cardiff match. If I am missing someone please u2u me the details. Something tells me admins will promptly make this sticky and lock it to preserve the sanctity. Also if you come across any of the aforementioned immortals, please think twice before you bully them; heck, I think these wise men of BC deserve their own custom titles in addition to being enshrined in this pantheon. :notworthy:

Can you believe that I've read the whole 27 pages of this match thread while waiting for today's match?

I saw that match on Channel 9 and it was (still is) one of the best days in my life. The amount of joy I felt when Aftab hit that Six of Jason Gillespie's last over....first ball.....I'll never forget that moment in my life.

Thanks MohammedC for bringing that memory back. You made my day.:notworthy:

How far we have come. Can you believe it? A half-day holiday for winning an ODI? This is why Shakib loves county cricket, a win's a win, a loss is a loss. Move on to the next one.

We have come a long way since then. I was actually in Dhaka on vacation when this happened - the joy was spontaneous and so palpable. I know, there will always be an asterisk to this win in the history books, but we are here and belong here.

TBH, even then I found the whole invocation of 71 to be in poor taste. Beating Pakistan's cricket team does not in anyway compare to the havoc that was wreaked by their industrial-military-jamindar complex on our population and the courage and sacrifice of our freedom fighters cannot be trivialized by comparing it to the elevated performance of 11 cricketers. But with our politicians and emotional people, it is the norm I guess.

I went to BD in 1999 just for that world cup. I was in TSC too. I walked from Dhanmondi to TSC and I didnt feel tired at all as every one of us on the street were partying, shouting . The atmosphere at TSC was electrifying.. I was dancing, beating drums, shouting. That was a night bro...Wish I can have that night back..just for once...

GopalDa,

you may disagree with me, but this also needs to be added here IMHO. why?

because this famous win ended our horrific 4/5 year winless drought in international cricket, albeit it was against Zimbabwe, but at that moment this win meant a lot to Bangladesh Cricket Team and to the fans...

http://www.banglacricket.com/alochona/showthread.php?t=4031

someone even opened a thread about it:

[বাংলা]আমার ক্রিকেট জীবন সারথক([/বাংলা] sorry, guys my bangla typing is not that good i mis-spelled the last word i believe)

hehe ;)

BC Crashed :) ... Cricinfo Crashed or was very slow. BD-Live was choppy for most

A bunch of us were on in the chat room, James was watching from his television giving live ball by ball updates +6 +6 +6 +6 +6 +6 and 6666666666666666!!!!!! and Chat Room Pandemonium followed.

Chat Room is frowned up nowadays, I don't know why.

That match and the India (WC win) were pretty cool in the chat room.
