Congratulations, I think we can safely say we're now good enough to be able to compete with teams like the Netherlands.

Now the bunch of ghor jamai's that we have in the middle order can go play hari-patil with the losers in the management who thought Aftab/Ashraful > Nafees. Screw them all.

Me too. If we can do this to them during the ODI series, who knows what could have happened during the Test series. I think this was our golden chance to finally a test match against G8 nation, and we passed it off. Who knows when we'll get another chance like this.

Cricket: Vettori looks for improved batting

New Zealand cricket captain Dan Vettori is looking to his batsmen to make the most of a good start as they look to bounce back from two one-day international losses to Bangladesh.
The Black Caps, who need to win the next two matches to draw the five-match series, were soundly beaten by seven wickets in the third ODI at Dhaka yesterday after scoring just 173 runs batting first.
Ross Taylor finished the innings on 62 not out but he could not find anyone to support him as the team got tied down by left-arm spinner Suhrawadi Shuvo.
Three others - BJ Watling, Jesse Ryder and Kyle Mills - got over 20 but none was able to stay with Taylor for long enough.
"I think it's similar to the first game in that we lost wickets at crucial times," Vettori said.
"From being 50 for 1 and having a good partnership to losing three for 12 and then another clump of wickets, it's always going to hurt you, and the Bangladesh spinners bowled exceptionally well and just kept up the pressure on us.

Vettori said the Black Caps hadn't underestimated Bangladesh, who had rarely beaten New Zealand prior to this series.
"We always knew it was going to be a tough test coming over here and playing without having any practice matches, coming up against a Bangladesh team that's good in their own conditions," he said.
"Whilst we don't want to be in this situation we respect how good Bangladesh are."
Bangladesh, who had won just one of their 17 one-day internationals against New Zealand before this series, were given a winning foundation as Shahriar Nafees and Imrul Keyes put on 127 for the opening wicket in 24.2 overs.
Kayes hit four boundaries in an 83-ball 50, his sixth half-century in one-day internationals, before becoming offspinner Nathan McCullum's second victim of the innings.
Taylor gathered his score off 72 balls with the help of four sixes, including two in an over from seamer Rubel Hossain.
He added 72 runs for the eighth wicket with Kyle Mills (26) after the tourists were reeling at 101-7. Mills smashed two successive sixes off spinner Shakib in his 28-ball knock.
Opener Ryder (33) and Watling (20) put on 55 for the second wicket before New Zealand struggled against spin in the middle overs.
Ryder hit two sixes and one four in his 42-ball knock, while Watling struck two boundaries in his 41-ball innings.
"We are disappointed with the batting. Ryder and Watling set us up, but from then on we were under pressure," Vettori said.
"The spinners for Bangladesh bowled very well and we have to adjust quickly. We have to post a decent score in the next game to put some pressure on them."
Spinners Mohammad Mahmudullah and Shakib grabbed two wickets apiece, while left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak took one wicket.
The fourth one-day international is on Thursday.
The second match of the series was washed out due to rain last Friday.

Surprisingly enough, both these wins combined can not equate the awesomeness of the English victory. Maybe a series victory will tilt the balance.

This NZ team is very weak. I think even Zimbabwe can beat them easily.
They have only two good bowlers: Mills & Vettory. Others are just crap!
3 good batsman: Mcullum, Taylor and Vettory.

I agree but what this win proves is the English win was not a fluke by any chance.
I would expect NZ to bounce back strongly in the next matches, but still this will shut the critics up for a long time.

Not until a series win ... A 250+ score still seems beyond the reach ... given few idiots in the team like Rok and Mulla, add to that batting power play disease in the team. Good to see a back to back win against top, but BD weakness just yet to expose I guess.

you can add Jesse Ryder to that list. He boasts avgs of 50 and 35 in tests and ODIs respectively. if I'm not mistaken he was one of the better performers in the IPL as well. plus Elliot is no slouch with the bat either...even with his recent dip in form he averages over 35 in ODIs. on certain days when conditions are favorable and our bowling clicks I think our SLA army can be a handful for any team in the world, including the likes of SA and Eng. i really doubt Zim/Ire stand a chance against McCullum/Ryder/Taylor/Vettori.

Hah! Typical 'mukh muse fela' fan... it's like Sherlock Holmes used to tell Watson that once he explains his deductive reasoning or rationale all the magic is gone. Same with us! I bet if the team was same and we didn't beat them....there wouldn't be such comments.

No, don't belittle the victory. I agree, NZ is one of the weaker sides, but still not weak as you suggest them to be.

BTW the same NZ team defeated us (India) by 200 runs. That team was much weaker in fact.

NZ is not a weak team..they pounced India in the tri series by 200 runs without Ryder, Vettori and McCullum..even though they got pounced against Sri Lanka and India soon after this team is still a very good team..they just can't find a way to play against our spin..give credit to Shakib and co. for bowling so well..just shows when our team clicks we are a very dangerous outfit..

Brothers and sisters, don't get me wrong. I'm as happy as you all are. But I don't want to be as excited as some of you are. I said what I felt. I would be more than happy if they can beat this team 4-0. Most of their players can't play spin and it is our strength, so it shouldn't be too hard to beat them 4-0.

A little light humor for those who are familiar with the Old Spice commericals (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owGykVbfgUE)

Look at the pitch. Now Back at me. Now Back to the ball in your hand, NOW BACK TO ME. Sadly, that ball isn't me. But if you stopped bowling and became a rock star you could feel a lot more like me. Look down, run up, where are you? You're bowling at a batsman who's on fire....me, and you're shaking in your pants like some kiwi doused in lady-scented bodywash. Back at me,´╗┐ what's going on? It's yet another clinical cover-drive to the boundary as I make your Total of 173 look like a cheap imitation of a rolex. Look´╗┐ again, the ball is NOW DIAMONDS and you don't know why you even bothered to turn up.
Anything is possible when you're me - Shahriar Nafees.
