Surprisingly in low key, none on the headlines up until now. May be getting over shock...NZ media had been one of the big basher of BD team over the years, it would be good to see how they react now. please post if you see more -

A debut century from Kane Williamson - the last 30 runs scored with a runner after he was injured - was not enough to stop Bangladesh...

Ok I stopped reading after that. What he suppose to some kinda world class batsman? The guy who had like 2-3 ducks and total of 16 runs in 7 matches? He is lucky he got 100 runs

Arese indeed! Wtf! We did not improve, rather New Zealand went crap! If we did not improve, New Zealand will now lose 5-0 to the current Zimbabwe side too. At New Zealand. The guy played when New Zealand was so bad that any Aussie 3rd Grader could play for them and still be one of their best three. He's not only insulted us he's also insulted the Kiwi team..especially Kane who scored a fantastic century with a cramp. This idiot named Dany scored a duck in every second match he played. Oh what a cricketer! Bet New Zealand improved a lot since he got kicked out coz even the current physio can bat better than him...and knows more cricket than him.

Morrison is also adamant it's not Bangladesh getting better but the Black Caps underperforming that has seen them fall 3-0 down in the series.
"I don't think it's the coming of age of Bangladesh really, it's pretty disappointing how our side are playing. Sure Bangladesh slow the pitches down but that happens in most countries, that's the reality."

Cricket: Black Caps' series result the worst ever?

The Black Caps' series loss against lowly rated Bangladesh could go down as their worst tour in recent memory.
.....
"It's shaping up as one of the worst ever because Bangladesh is so lowly rated," Morrison told nzherald.co.nz. "That was a bad tour to South Africa but you can never say South Africa were a poor side. They may not have been as good as they sometimes are but they are a number of rungs up the ladder than Bangladesh at any time."

Morrison is also adamant it's not Bangladesh getting better but the Black Caps underperforming that has seen them fall 3-0 down in the series.

"I don't think it's the coming of age of Bangladesh really, it's pretty disappointing how our side are playing. Sure Bangladesh slow the pitches down but that happens in most countries, that's the reality."
....
The series loss to Bangladesh won't help the Black Caps' profile going into a summer that features just one series against a Pakistan side embroiled in recent match fixing claims.

If I can remember correctly, we were very fighting in that series, even with a crap team.

If we play our todays team v that NZ team from 04, I have no doubt that we wouldn't "show him"

We were hammered in that Test series and how dearly would NZ wish for having a batsman of the class of Stephen Fleming in the side. Vettori pushed Flemo out because he wanted to be skipper of Tests too. But that's not the issue, the issue is it was terribly un-classy of Richardson to say those things when for so long NZ was the stepchild of international cricket and they have had very few superstar players.

Nah man we didn't do so well that in that series, except one match where we scored around 150, and NZ ended up winning by like 3 wickets. That NZ team back in 04 actually had some pretty good players- Cairns, Sinclair, Mcmillan, Astle, stryis was there too.

This is from a site called fakingnews.com :

Dhaka, Bangladesh. In an action packed press conference at the end of the fourth ODI at Mirpur, Bangladesh captain Shakib-al-Hasan announced that the entire Bangladesh team would be rested for the 5th and final ODI against New Zealand. Bangladesh has already won the 5 match series by winning three out of the four games played till now with one match abandoned due to rains.

“We have lots of important cricket coming up. There is the Kai Altech Premier T20 league and ACC matches against Malaysia and Kenya. Given the amount of cricket the boys have been playing, we want to protect them from injury and keep them fresh for these important engagements,” Bangladeshi captain said.

“Also, with all due respect to Dan and his boys, it is really hard to keep yourself motivated against a mediocre opposition. Keeping all this mind, we have decided to rest the main Bangladesh team for the final game. We do recognize our commitments to Cricket New Zealand and will ensure that they get a great game of cricket. West Bangladesh will be playing instead of our first eleven in the final ODI at Dhaka,” Shakib-al-Hasan informed as people googled frantically for “West Bangladesh”.

http://www.fakingnews.com/2010/10/bangladesh-to-rest-entire-team-for-5th-odi-against-minnows-new-zealand/

Ends with this line :

In an unrelated confusion during the press conference, the question “How does it feel to be the best batsman, left-arm spin bowler, and only international caliber player in the team that you also happen to captain?” was simultaneously answered by both Shakib-al-Hasan and Daniel Vettori.

I remember reading this article back then and feeling so pissed at first and then ashamed. I think all BD players should read stuff like this during the preparation (but not during the series) and stick it in the fridge. This should be part of their psyche building process so they are always fired up.
