Abdul Razzaq provides an indication of how well (or poor) are league is.

I dont like the fact, he is coasting with a 60+ average. I would prefer our league would have a better standard for him to be struggling for a 35+ average at the most

Thanks nadim 98, very handy thread!

I was wondering if the strike rates of the batsmen can be shown as well. Also, I'm not sure if it's possible but it would be awesome to record how many runs are scored in the power play overs every match and who are scoring them.

Bump,

Most of the scorecards are now available at cricketarchive so it would be a good time to update the stats and see who the performers are.

Last years top run scorer Imrul kayes is having a horrid time, whilst Tamim, Mushy and Monimul Haque (newcomer?) have been consistently making runs.
Elias Sunny is once again collecting lots of wickets and Kamrul Islam Rabbi (newcomer?) has also started well.

yo Nadim, demand a new PC from BC Administration ! ;)

From the about us page:

BanglaCricket is an independent and non-profit fan driven cricket site for Bangladesh cricket fans.

I recommend that, you, as a fan, a member of BC, and someone who benefits from BC and its volunteers like the BC Administration and Nadim, donate a new PC to Nadim.

sorry to hear about your PC bro, if you know a little about computers then you can usually find good deals on this site:-

http://www.ebuyer.com/

I'd volunteer doing part of this, say the batting stats if someone else does the bowling stats. What would be the easiest way to do it? just collect the raw data from cricket archive and get my calculator out? any advice on the easiest method would be very much appreciated.

Holden - if you have the time, much appreciated. You could put the data in a spreadsheet and let it's formula handling capabilities do the rest.

OK guys I've got collected most of the runs scored data and inputted it into a spreadsheet ( I'm using Open Office Spreadsheet rather than Excel as I haven't got it installed on this PC, it's basically the same , does the same simple functions).

But I've hit a problem: I've been putting an asterisk (*) next to the number of runs whenever a player is not out, eg 52*, is a score of 52 runs not out. But this means when I try to use the SUM function to get the total number of runs for a player, any number with * is ignored (ie his not outs) and not used in the calculation.

It's been awhile since I last used Excel so what do I do, is there a way to bypass this and include any number of runs with an * into the calculation? I need to leave the * in because I will need to know the not outs to work out averages for the players.
Any helpful suggestions would be much appreciated.

it will either end up being: Pick two of the above three or pick one of the above three, no matter what someone will get the cut, and only these players can help themselves to promote their cause.

The last few matches of the DPL before January 19th should be key key matches for these players.

Why do you need to put Asterisk (*) to Not Out runs ? Mark "Not Out" with one specific Color and then give a footnote. Now, your formula will work and you will also know which of them are Not Out Score !

Hope it helps. :)

The reason is scoring all these matches is because he is batting at where he is suppose to be batting, number, in the top order. Same goes to Mushy and Nayeem. All these guys are not 6/7/8 batsman. They are all top order batsman but the team management is ruining their game by making them bat down the order. Its true that a batsman should be able to bat in any position his team needs him to bat in, but our guys are not that great of a batsman yet that they can easily shift position all over the place. We have been struggling to find a decent number 4 and to some extent number 3 for how long? Mushy, Riyad or Naeem should have gotten their fair share of chances in those position.

How is a SR of 67 acceptable in this day and age? And that too against crappy DPL bowlers. Anyone could have an average of 50+ with such a selfish approach to batting. He should be kept away from limited overs cricket.

not outs = 1
runs = 271
balls = 301

50s = 2
100s = 0
single digit scores = 2

How is a SR of 67 acceptable in this day and age? And that too against crappy DPL bowlers. Anyone could have an average of 50+ with such a selfish approach to batting. He should be kept away from limited overs cricket.

he (mahmudullah) should be

Why do you need to put Asterisk (*) to Not Out runs ? Mark "Not Out" with one specific Color and then give a footnote. Now, your formula will work and you will also know which of them are Not Out Score !

Hope it helps. :)

Thanks, this helped me alot, most number of runs scored coming soon..

Rather poor analysis I'd say. It seems he did get going in the matches he scored big. The very first one (37 off 100-something deliveries) really pulls his strike rate down. Overrall, his season's been pretty good. A century would've made the difference.

Thank you Cricket_king bhaiya.

secondly, if you notice match #5 and match #7 his strike rate is close to 90% which shows that he used the batting powerplays quite effectively because he himself has said that he always gets to a slow start and then accelerate later on. He also said in the interview that he used the powerplay overs quite effectively in this DPL, which he failed to do in international arena.

about his 37 off 100 deliveries innings: when a player gets dropped from the squad in the middle of the series, us fans have very little idea how much it affects the player psychologically. he was seriously lacking in confidence. and the drop was needed.

Bangladesh_s is right, He succeeds as a top order batsmen.

I still say that he has not convinced the selectors/Shakib/Siddons/BC Fans yet...I still say he needs another 50+ innings with strike rate above 80.00...

He didn't really bowled bad at all during the limited chances he got recently in the New Zealand series. when you don't score any significant scores for a long time in international cricket, you are bound to get dropped, Simple as That.

someties remaining not out 91 or 88 is as good as a century, why? because you have batted out until your team tasted victory mate :)

Thanks Holden

What's with Mushfiqur Rahim's 50-and-out mentality? He needs to develop some stamina to convert those 50s into 100s.

Good to see Shahriar Nafees on song, he's the only player to score 2 centuries and should bat at #4. Mominul Haque has done well, Riyad impressive also, although someone needs to remind him this is a 50 over format and not a test match.

Thanks for the stats Jisaan. Rubel's form is worrying. Don't suppose you've worked out their averages so far?

Thanks Holden, good work!

I believe Shamsur Rahman scored 2 hundreds as well, the 2nd one coming in round 9, but the stats are upto round 8. And yeah, Mushfiq has got 4 of 80+ scores I think, it's weird that he has not converted at least one of those into a 100.
