This is the last thing we want right now...the problem is even when you practice you have to take it very seriously but they should take all necessary precautions not to get injured...Wishing his quick recovery

From the above article, it seems some players are slacking and not getting interested!!! The reason was given as fatigueness for playing 10 matches and traffic...they better get serious!

You can't blame them. They did play a lot of cricket in 2010. 7 test x 4 (the average days) is 28 x6 (the hours played) = 168 hours playing test.
Then ODI's is 27 x 7 = 189 hours of playing ODI.
168 + 189 = 321 hours of international cricket which is (321/24 = 13 days 9 hours of cricket) no wonder theyre tired and not including the DPL!

why is tamim going to pakistan to guy bats? can't bats be purchased in Dhaka? and if not - which is hard to believe since we're a test playing nation - can't they be overnight shipped from Pakistan?

why does tamim have to go into a war zone to get these bats? and how was he given clearance by the BCB for this dangerous mission?

All praise to Allah that he has returned safely! Why would Tamim go to a currently very unsafe Pakistan or BCB allowing him to go?? Defies all commonsense!!

On topic- we are really getting some confusing and, perhaps, contradictory reports on Mashrafi's progress. If he could really recover completely before the second match then BCB has made a stupendous blunder by leaving him out.

Am I the only one who doesn't buy the "I went to buy bats" story? I mean he is a superstar now and sponsors would queue up and even pay him to use their bats. Earlier I read that he and his mother went for a short holiday abroad. And I have also heard that his mother is Pakistani. Maybe they went to visit their relatives and to avoid any anti-Pakistan sentiment from arising he came up with the bat story.

I hope Mash doesn't turn out to be a distraction in the preparations to the WC.

I don't really care what % fit he is. If he is not capable of bowling better than Nazmul/Shafi/Rubel without being a danger/risk to himself and able to bowl full 10 overs during a match he should not be considered.

I don't blame the guy for trying or rehabbing or practicing but I'm sick of the media and the fans giving it so much attention.

its good that mashrafe is trying hard to get back in rhythm, if incase any injury during wc, he can replace and be ready to replace some pacer. glad, shahadat is also practicing with team. so we have 17 members practicing atm

I believe the entire 15 man squad plus named alternates are practicing. From what I recall Kaps should be there too.

"I hope this doesn't sound strange, but I would rather hope Mashrafe doesn't get a chance to play in some way because that means someone is injured and we want to keep everybody injury-free with the current squad," said the Englishman.

I am with Pont, hope none of our pacers gets injured. Mash will also need 3-4 matches to get his rhythm back which will be waste which is very risky in a competition like the World Cup.

Drawing room conversation. The guy I heard it from claims to be one of Nafees Iqbal's best friends and classmate. Don't know how much weight to give to that.

You are right because even Shahadat is bowling 140K with the team now!!. He is also there with the World Cup squad. I hope people don't start to bash him for trying hard to be in the back-up squad.

There is too much on Mashrafee.. that's good because it only takes away the focus from the real squad and forces Mashrafee to become fitter and motivates him to get his groove back. He is a distraction for the fools like us but not for the squad. Unless he had the nod from Jamie and Shakib, he wont be in the academy grounds..

The harsh truth is he is not going to be in the squad unless someone is injured. And it is likely because Najmul is injury prone anyways.. like Rasel was. Howevver, it has been made clear by the Head Coach, Bowling Coach and BCB that he is only there as a backup player. Even Mashrafee is aware of it. He is fully supporting the 3 pacers and having him in the camp also helps Rubel, Shafiul, Nazmul because he is their idol and he can translate things for Ian Pont.

It is only us, the fans and journalists who blew this thing up out of proportions and got bezirk with his inclusion/exclusion... the dust has settled in Dhanmondi and all has moved on ( other than the journos and BC street cricketers :) )

If he gave this much effort and dedication after he got hurt in the Windies, in all likelihood he would lost all the extra weight that puts the stress on the knees, which would have helped him avoid this one and probably get his form back to where it was vs Sri Lanka

they should. u must keep the back fit so that they are not rusty if needed in the middle of WC as replacement
