View Full Version : Pace hunter programme in “united kingdom”

Have you ever wondered why there are nearly 500,000 Bengalis in England and know one is taking the responsibility of finding a talent for Bangladesh cricket. This is the time to change, we need those that love Bangladesh cricket to stand up and show and guide young talented bowlers and batsmen to Bangladesh Squad. I know there are few Bengali Cricket Clubs in London, But I have recently heard that few Bengalis are getting offers from Middlesex cricket club and others. Do you not think we can use them for the bright future of Bangladesh Cricket.
I would like all the senior members of Banglacricket to really think about this programme, as Junaid Bhai is having an interview with the coach and bowling coach, it would be wise for him to ask about this matter. “is there any opportunities for Bangladeshi who live in London to be part of the Bangladesh Squad”. and finally “Can A Pace Hunter Programme be Organised in UK?

Well Ian can do very little about it. He already said it would be the smartest for BCB to utilize him finding new pacers and training bowling coaches in Bangladesh. Only BCB can do something.

But it is a general practice to have kind of evaluation report/suggestions from the out going coaches/specialists at the end of their contract. I read somewhere (forgot the source, but it was in a Bangla daily during the last UK tour) where JS discussed similar thoughts.

Becuase bengali players are not strong enough to bowl at a speed more than 85MPH.
Plus bangladeshi player has disadvantage in Trainning becuase they dont face to many Fast bowlers bowling more than 85MPH compared all the other cricketing nations.!

I wont mind if any British Bengali feel proud to play for his Motherland. But he has to go through the system. That means, playing for Club, 1st Class cricket and prove himself to be worthy of being in National team.

Most of them can not speak 'Bangla' . Probably only Alok Kapali can understand them ! He can rather work as an interpreter instead.

You have not seen anyone In england bowling more than 85MPH, oh well maybe you forgot Andrew Flintoff, Anderson bowls near 85MPH everytime and even more, ajmal Shahjad bowls really good and fast. there are many, you can do some research brother.

That is incorrect. Shafiul and Rubel both can bowl faster than 85 mph as stated by Coach Ian Pont.

Shafiul consistently bowls above 140 kp!
Rubel's quickest one that i saw was 148.6!
now convert that to mph (who thinks they can't bowl faster than 85mph) and a few ppl will get shocked

Your logic makes no sense. A "UK-born Bangladeshi", in the sense that an individual with Bangladeshi parents is born in England, would have the same genes if he were born in Bangladesh. So if you're trying to say that Bangladeshis living in England can potentially bowl faster to Bangladeshis in Bangladesh, you're wrong. The same individual can bowl fast anywhere, as long as he has the training and will power. Personally, I'd prefer our own home-grown players, rather than Bangladeshis from abroad.

What he prob means is that the UK-born Bangladeshis are well-fed and receive proper nutrition and so are stronger and taller. So whatever he is saying might be true when you look at the overall population. But before saying anything like these we need to have statistical evidence.
As for the Bangladesh-born Bangladeshis (BBBs) Shafiul and Rubel are the glorious examples of BBBs who can bowl faster than 85 mph. :smug:

what I am trying to say is that, are they able to bowl 85MPH consistently when playing against teams like india, pakistan, sri lanka etc. becuase i remember once tamim said he does not face that much fast bowling over 85MPH except some from mashrafi. so most likely he knows better than us, if i am incorrect please correct me. thank you

Even if they get the opportunity to play the BD national side, most will still pick ECB......the reason being higher paygrade.

Well according to Aqib Javed Pakistan have so many fast bowlers because they play with the taped-tennis balls at the start. This helps build their shoulder muscles and gives them great pace.

I live in London and i play all my cricket in hackney Victoria park were there are nets for everyone to train and play matches, trust me there are some young and some old pace bowlers who bowl really fast!! And they don't want to play for England there dream is to be able to go back to Bangladesh and play for national side, there's good potential here for the bcb.
Oh and does anyone here play in the summer league in Victoria park??

Good to know that.
And please people, whats wrong if a British Born Bangladeshi wants to play for Bangladesh? And why does he has to go through our domestic system? If he is a good player and can prove himself in county leagues he should be welcomed. In a sense it would be a bonus for us- we didn't spend a single cent but got a quality player in our disposal. Most of the teams now a days have players born and in some cases played overseas. I wouldn't go to that argument whether a NRB(non resident Bangladeshi) is physically better built or not. As long as he proves himself the door should be opened, be him a pacer or batter. A player of this sort will make us more proud to the world considerig the fact that he ignored the big bucks he could earn playing for England by choosing to play for Bangladesh.

won't mind comin to some pacer hunt programme. Used to be openin bowler for school team. Thing is though I live in the outskirts of London.... so if such idea does go forward we need to make sure its not just in london but all over the country eg midlands (birmingham), north (manchester/ newcastle) etc etc

I would never do that... Despite higher salaries. Bangladesh is my roots/origins. Although i would b allowed to play for england if i have the talent... i would choose bangladesh anyday. I live in die for the cricket in bangladesh. Whenever England are playin cricket... i barely ever watch them play. But wenever i hav the chance to watch bdesh play i do. Even wen i do i always hav this special feeling and connection with their cricket. Every single ball i watch theres addrelanine rushing etc. My passion is far more greater for Bangladesh then it is for England. Sometime's money is not everything.

that same qouote, tamim mentioned that rubel and shafiul are both 140 k bowlers. if u include mashrafee thats 3. if you include shahadat who used to be 140 k, and Coach Pont says is currently our fastest bowler, then thats 4.
There are probably 2 more in the domestics who have yet to be discovered. Rabbi or someone else.
Part of pace bowling comes from the culture. Pakistan churns out pace bowlers because they have the history of sarfraz, imra, wasim, waqar. India doesn't have a tearaway, except perhaps Srinath, and so they struggle. A lack of meat in the diet also plays a part as you simply cannot get the high quality amino acids from eating daal or vegetables. As coach Pont says, there is no genetic hurdles...you have to have the desire. Its easier to want to be a fast bowler if you know there is a history of it in your nation. Thats why we have so many left arm spinners. Its not in our genes to be left arm spinners.
We can develop it if people aspire to it. Mashrafee has already spawned the current generation.

shafi and rubel are both consistently 85 mph, yes. that doesn't mean they will keep it up every match or even every series. some pace gets sacrificed for the ridiculous control that u saw in those same 2 series.
rubel in test matches can consistently bowl 140+. he was able to reach 146 on the 4th day in the Hamilton test last year.
