View Full Version : Ridiculous restrictions at the WC

In a press conference by the Police Commissioner Benazir Ahmed he mentioned various security restrictions. Fine but then:

Meanwhile, the spectators will not be permitted to take video and still cameras, banners or festoons, and also cameraphones into the stadium, Benazir added.

Say what? In what civilized country is this kind if draconian rule in place and why? I am fine with the interdiction of Video cameras but no still photography? A huge part of the stadium experience is being able to bring more than memories home. If this is an example of how things are going to be run, there will be a huge outcry from the paying public. I for one will now be loath to purchase any future tickets. So will most dissappointed spectators from all over the world. Bangladesh can kiss goodbye to being able to host any future mega event like this.

Ridiculous.

Well if it's just for the ceremony then I can understand, because it will be a crap ceremony, and they don't want people remembering it for years to come.

Best way to make fun of this is to take one of these ▼ and dangle it around their faces, or asking them to help you carry it in.

I know only for the opening but it is setting a bad precedence. Next, they may want to try the same **** at the matches.

so half the stadium was empty during the warmup match as they were checking the ID card of everyone entering the stadium. How long will it take now (going through everyone bags/backpack searching for cellphone, camera etc).

Who has a cell phone without camera nowadays? I don't believe they can enforce the camera phone restriction.

Yeah I think on match day they will declare you can only enter with LG camera less cell phones(official sponsor of ICC).

Why stand by silly rules. Why can't we do something about incompetent nincompoops with a power trip. Wait, I have been away too long, right?

Boss, just a word of advice from a minnow, don't get in trouble please. Your wife will never let you out of your house again, let alone go abroad.

I know you are excited and everything. And people that live outside of Bangladesh (specially the ones who were born in BD) generally feels very proud, and always wants to do something for the country and fix the mess, but this is NOT the time!

Just saying.

this is nothing at least they were allowing cell. In BUET convocation they thought cell and key ring are security threat and instruct us not to bring those.

Not nearly as ridiculous as the manifest khyatami of the WC "beautification" all around town, not to mention our clown-suit kit. This is what happens when a bunch of dumb, arrogant, khyat and uncultured robber barons become decision makers.

Deadly Sahara and Loitta K tandem at work here.

Noticed a few people in the stands at BNS during the opening ceremony with camcorders in hand, videotaping...

What about binoculars?
Can we complain somewhere on these ridiculous rules? Bnaglatey boley na "Bajro atuni foska gero".
With these much of mismanagement, I would not prefer WCs in subcontinent.

There was initial plan to activate GSM jammer round the stadium perimeter but the idea was later dropped. However , Jamming devices are well in place and those can be locally enforced whenever necessary.
