Over the course of the past few weeks, there have been numerous websites selling Cricket World Cup packages. Enticing, many like yourself, to buy their legal "HD" package. But, the truth of the matter is that Willow.tv is the only OFFICIAL internet broadcaster. They have recently started to take serious action against these sort of internet piracy. Willow legal team is shutting down these sites one by one, so please be cautious and don't throw you money down the drain.

Here is an email I received today from Willow, BTW.

Dear Willow TV customer:

Over the past several years, Willow TV has been closely monitoring the
growth of online piracy of live sporting events and we have also been
impacted by this illegal activity. However, with the concerted efforts
of our own internal anti-piracy team and our top-tier legal counsel,
working in close collaborations with private investigators,
broadcasters, legal authorities and financial institutions globally,
Willow TV has been able to strike decisive blows against the
perpetrators of this illegal activity. We truly appreciate the
continued patronage of customers like yourselves and would like to
take this opportunity to update you on some of the key actions we have
been able to take to combat piracy.

After a series of detailed investigations, Willow TV recently filed
multiple complaints in the Superior Court of the State of California
and in the United States District Court against a number of websites
and individuals that were identified as "ring leaders" and repeat
infringers of the global copyrights. As part of a series of judgments
in favor of Willow TV, the courts also granted our discovery
applications, which enabled Willow TV to subpoena the payment
processors for these websites.

Armed with these subpoenas, Willow TV was able to take three very
critical steps:
• First, we were able to freeze the accounts of the infringing
websites across a range of payment processors, including PayPal,
Google Checkout, AlertPay, CCBill and a number of others.
• Second, thanks to the subpoena power, we were able to obtain
detailed information about the identities of both the account holders
(i.e. the owners of the websites) as well as the identities of the
people that provide these websites with the business necessary to
continue to fund this criminal activity.
• Third, and most importantly, we are now using this identity
information to work with authorities in the respective jurisdictions
to bring the repeat offenders to justice.

Once again, we thank you for your continued patronage which allows
Willow TV to license exclusive rights to provide you with the high
quality live coverage across television, Internet and mobile
platforms. You have our assurance that we will do everything in our
power to respect the business you bring to us and shut down any
sources of illegal cricket content that infringes upon our rights.

We will continue to update you periodically on our activities in the
anti-piracy domain. We would like to reiterate that through our
actions, we are now able to track the money trail that funds illegal
piracy, both to the perpetrators of the activity as well as to the
source of the funds from repeat infringers. There is no anonymity in
piracy and Willow TV is committed to bringing these individuals to
justice, regardless of where they are located.

A snapshot of our most recent court filing is at www.willow.tv/2011CourtFilingPg1.pdf

We thank you again for your continued patronage, and look forward to
bringing you an exciting ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 in High Definition
Video Streaming on www.willow.tv, and our High Definition broadcast on
DISH Network and DIRECTV.

Watched both warmup games of india and the opening ceremony on my willow package without any issues. Buffered for a couple seconds at times, but that was very minimal. TRUE hd quality streaming, and I have no complains. So glad I bought the package early.

How are you guys watching online streaming through willow.tv in Canada? Geo-blocking is preventing me from purchasing the package.

Is there any other online service available in Canada?

Dish Network is showing it, early bird special $129.00.

This is how I justified paying the $129.00 PPV. I figured, World cup is played every 4 yrs, it's being playing in my country. It's well worth to pay the price for a quality viewing.

i suggest :

1. Go to their website
2. Find a local agent
3. Contact him/her and set up a time and watch your self.

thats way you can make your own decision, if the quality is good enough for you or not.

If you like it, you can buy it on the spot.

Willow TV had their package available in both US and Canada at first, but Rogers forced them to put on a blackout for blackout, presumably because of Willow's cheaper package price of $129, while Rogers package (on ATN) is $200. Willow put on the geo restriction seemingly a day after I made my purchase, so anyone from Canada trying to buy from Willow TV are not being able to do so. Those who got theirs early, are the lucky ones. Willow TV showed good professionalism in keeping those early-purchases intact.

I bought it on the 10th feb, fyi. I'm sorry Obayed bhai... we should have all bought from them before they put on the geo restriction. :(
