by the way when in the team selection?..will there be a auction like the ipl?

May 29, 2011, 11:34 AM
no there is no auction. There are no Franchise in the tournament. The SLPL is managed by an Indian company known as Somerset Inc who have got the rights for 1.75 M$ per year. They have contacted the foreign players. Then the pool of foreign players and SL national players will be distributed equally amongst all the 7 teams. Then rest of the slots will be filled by local and domestic players. U21 players will be distributed equally as 2 players are compulsory in playing 11 of each team

Upul Tharanga, the Sri Lanka opening batsman, will face an ICC inquiry after testing positive for a banned substance during the 2011 World Cup, ESPNcricinfo understands. The cricketer is reported to have tested positive for prednisolone, a drug that is used to treat asthma, a condition from which he is said to suffer.

It borrows the idea from IPL. But I think can atract even nearly IPL because ipl has a lot of money & glamour.
