Does anyone knows when the game starts? BD or GMT. should start soon though. Here is what i think. Our last wicket cannot last long. Zim will have at least 100 runs lead. Considering the first two innings its obvious that its batting pitch. i don't think it will be easy for our bowlers to bowl them out within 200-300 runs. so a total lead of 300-400 runs. its all depends of steak whether he is confident enough or not. If he decleared at the lower range, we'll be able to see a result. the result though, most likely be a lose for us. but who knows we may win too. but if he takes the upper range of declearing lead, we can hope for a draw. if our batsmen can continue the performance. enough of reality. lets hope our bowlers will blow them away with some specticular performances.

111.5 Blignaut to Manjural Islam Rana, no run, lovely ball on the off
stump that had him beaten
111.4 Blignaut to Manjural Islam Rana, no run, and another one is banged
in short, misdirected, again plays and misses
111.3 Blignaut to Manjural Islam Rana, no run, good length, kicks up off
the pitch, goes back and tries to play and gets beaten
111.2 Blignaut to Manjural Islam Rana, no run, short outside off,
slashing at it - missing
111.1 Blignaut to Manjural Islam Rana, no run, from round the wicket, a
quicker ball outside off stump, got some bounce too, beaten

but the wicket seems pretty good for batting for a fourth day wicket. I don't think it is cracking up much at all, which gives us hope of being able to hold on for a draw.

If Zim declare at 400 with 10 over today and 90 for tommorrow, Should Bangladesh go for win or Draw.

Sham

Bangladesh set 353 to win!

I think winning is pretty much out of the question. We are not going to score 353 in the fourth innings on a five day old pitch. More realistically, we have 105 overs or so to survive. If we can survive the 15 overs to come tonight, then the chances of a draw are pretty good. If we lose a couple tonight, it will be a very difficult.

Can we bat the rest of the day and the whole day tommorrow i doubt. But well played we should have restricted them in first innnings but u know we are learning may be next innings we won't make the mistake.

Tehsin

First thought our boys should have is to bat cautiously for the next 10 overs - DO NOT under any circumstance go for any big shots tonight.

Tomrrow, we should have 10 wickets and 90 overs to score 300 oddd runs. IF we canmaintain our cool, we can get very close, if Zimbabwe panic - we can even get our first victory but I don't expect it to be easy.

If we win it, it would have to be our best effort ever. It's hard to score 353 runs against any team, even Australia would have some ressure on them. Hopefully Dav will advise the playes to stay calm.

I think we should try to bat the full overs. A draw is going to be my first choice simply because we need to get out of the habit of losing and if we can draw a five day match, it wil give us enough confidence to go for a win in the next match. owever, a loss at this stage will break us down a bit. It will be Multan (was it Multan ?) all over.

sage
February 22, 2004, 09:29 AM
Will Dav (the Coach) Let BD play for Draw. As far as I know, He will not agree with draw.

Sham
February 22, 2004, 09:33 AM
we will have about 320 to win tomorrow of 90 overs. Going for a win will be suicidal I think. Thats an asking rate of 3.5 runs an over on the 5th day. Considering that we scored 341 at 2.86 on a third day pitch, trying to maintain a rr of 3.5 on a fifth day pitch will be madness.

Lets just be happy with a draw in this test and try to win the next one!

Sham
February 22, 2004, 09:36 AM
the choice is much less between a draw and a win and more between a draw and a loss.

Blignaut almost got Hannan out twice in the first over.

Btw, is Streak injured? That improves our chances of drawing tenfold!

February 22, 2004, 09:40 AM

There is nothing really here to cheer about. But you guys can do something else. Over the last few days, I have seen wonderful writing on the BD cricket. And those brought our U/19 coach here to explain a thing or two.

So, lets the key strokes tap again, and hopefully this time Mr. Whatmore will come up with his explaining.

By giving captaincy for a stupid team, WE LOST ONE FINE PLAYER!

we shouldnt be too discouraged despite the horrible second innings...we have a history of bad 2nd innings...we have to look to the 2nd test now and to the 5 ODIs...perhaps we can end our ODI streak b4 the test streak.

dont look for a win anytime soon...inshallah in 1-2 years we should win ODIs and Tests...in the meantime lets push all the tests to 5 days and get some draws...this one is lost so lets get 2 big scores and a DRAW in the next test!
