Wow they are sending a full-strength squad. Messi, Aguero, Di Maria, Mascherano, Zabaleta. And that too since the major leagues have started. Kudos to Argentina. Will be a great treat for the people of Bangladesh and a great advertisement for the sport. Hopefully it is organised well so that we can host similar fixtures in the future.

this doesnt look good.... Argentina team will no-doubt show up in Dhaka to fulfill the contractual obligation, but i think the management/coach will decide the playing 11 after their practice session at Bongobondhu stadium (no one is going near Komlapur stadium I can tell).

the main problem with the grounds in BD is the uneven surface. Not only ball controlling is a challenge, but you just have to be careful with your steps to avoid spraining your ankle or twisting your knee. I dont know how much risk Argentina is willing to take over a friendly match...

actually the money argentina will get depends on the presence of star players, the indians have put a such clause in the contract. so if messi or aguero or mashcerano dont play a huge amount of money wont be avaialable

it starts from 7500 taka, though this category is open for a mimited quota. the most available tickets are priced at 10000 taka ..... and vip stand prices are higher

also the 2 hour practice session can be watched by 1000 taka

Lol in that case I would just watch the practice session. There is a high risk of getting killed if I went to the actual match [Since I dont like Argentina] and I am not paying 10000 tk to get killed, lmao.

For a friendly even 7500 BDT is quite expensive where ever you are in the world. In the UK cheapest tickets start from 35 GBP for a friendly football game.

But it also depends on the teams, Argentina doesnt go to BD everyday, whether for a friendly or not. This is more like a once in a lifetime oppurtunity for most of the people. In that sense, 7500 is nothing :) [but I personally wouldnt spend it, if it was Germany, sure, but not for Argentina :P]

Messi too costly for Bangladesh fans

Football fans in Bangladesh, one of the world's poorest countries, have reacted in fury over ticket prices set at a minimum of $100 (7,400 Bangladeshi Taka) to see superstar Lionel Messi lead out Argentina in a friendly.
The stylish South Americans, who have had a massive following in
Bangladesh since the 1980s, will play in the capital Dhaka on Tuesday evening against Nigeria.

But only half of the tickets have so far been sold for the game - the biggest football match in the country's history - with many fans unable to afford the entry price.

Passion for the game runs deep in Bangladesh. During the football World Cup last year, the country was covered in Argentinian and Brazilian flags.

But minimum ticket prices of 7,400 Taka and the expense of Eid celebrations last week marking the end of Ramadan could leave rows of empty seats at the 24,000-capacity Bangabandhu National Stadium.

“It's a ridiculous price. They don't want real soccer fans to watch Messi's match. I earn just 8,000 taka per month. How can I afford a ticket?” Rajib Ahmed, 25, a chemical tester at a private company, told AFP outside the ground.

"I saved some money and bought a ticket for Monday's practice session. It costs 1,000 taka, which is still too much. I just want to see Messi in action. He is the best player on earth," Ahmed said.

Like many Bangladeshis, Rajib's love of Argentina is rooted in the team's glorious past. "Our family has been supporting the side since the heyday of (Diego) Maradona," he said. "We would have bought tickets for the match had they lowered the price to perhaps 2,000 taka."

Head of the organising committee Anwarul Haq Helal said, “If you want to see Messi play, there is some cost. We have sold only 50 percent of the tickets at the moment. We did not expect this.”

Higuain scored the first. Di Maria the second. But Messi essentially created the second goal, Di Maria just tapped it in.

Overall I'm happy that BFF organized this match and it was pretty well managed. Far better organized than Kolkata.

I wish BFF doesn't stop here and continue to organize such events on yearly basis, if not more frequently. This can really revive our football.

Thanks to Salahuddin. Probably for the first time I'm praising a BD sports organizer, repeatedly.
