BCB unsure on use of DRS - Daily Star.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is not yet sure whether the Decision Review System (DRS) will be in place for the coming home series against West Indies. The International Cricket Council (ICC) in its annual conference in June in Hong Kong had agreed to make the DRS mandatory for all Tests and ODIs, subject to commercial considerations.

According to the BCB, there are three options regarding use of the DRS. The host cricket board can avoid using the DRS with the ICC's consent, or they may follow the minimum standard or the enhance standard. For using any of the two standards, they must pay heavily as expensive technology like Hawkeye is required.BCB is considering following the minimum standard but the broadcaster, Nimbus, can only fulfill three requirements -- slow motion, super slow motion and audio vision on stumps -- out of the five. Hot Spot and Ultra slow motion are the other technology required for the minimum standard. In the ongoing series between Sri Lanka and Australia, the broadcasters do not have the last two technologies available but they're still using the DRS.

The board already sent a letter to ICC seeking their advice whether the three requirements will be good enough for the DRS and will take the decision after the governing body's recommendation.There is no need to pay anything for the three but the board have to pay nearly Tk 2 crore if they want to fully use the DRS."Hopefully we will use the DRS (Decision Review System) in minimum standard. We are waiting for ICC's advice in this regard," said Enayet Hossain Siraj, BCB's cricket operations committee chairman yesterday. Besides DRS, there are some other new rules which will become effective from October 1.

They will play two Tests, three ODIs and a Twenty20 international against the Tigers.

we are not a poor cricketing country. wondering whether though it is necessary or not.

a poor country in financial terms we might be, but our cricket board is not poor, they do have the money. I myself am not on my stance. even though we have the money, I think its better not to spend it on DRS, instead invest in the academy and other developmental program.

No DRS for Bangladesh - West Indies series

The Decision Review System (DRS) will not be used for the Bangladesh-West Indies series, according to a Bangladesh Cricket Board official. The West Indies will play two Tests, three ODIs and a Twenty20 international in Bangladesh this month but BCB media chairman Jalal Yunus said the board's agreement with the broadcaster, Nimbus, does not cover the technology required.

"It would be difficult to use DRS given our agreement with Nimbus," Yunus told the Daily Star. "The replays for DRS won't be clear. We have consulted with the ICC and they have also agreed with the issue."

At its annual conference in June, the ICC had decided to make the DRS mandatory for all Tests and ODIs, subject to certain minimum standards and commercial considerations. The use of Hot Spot was made mandatory while ball-tracking technology was made optional. BCB had originally considered adopting the minimum standard but Nimbus said could not provide Hot Spot.

The DRS has come in for a lot of criticism recently. The BCCI reverted to its stance against the use of the system at this annual general meeting last month, with the new board president N Srinivasan saying the current technology was simply not good enough after Hot Spot proved inconclusive on a few occasions during India's tour of England. And during the Sri Lanka - Australia, series, Hawk-Eye admitted the depiction of Phil Hughes' second-innings lbw dismissal in the Galle Test was rendered inaccurate by "a tracking mistake".

Which type of contract with Nimbus BCB did? It is normal if ICC change the rule, off course, Nimbus also have to accept the rule and they have to arrange which is needed. Why does BCB have to bear the cost of UDRS system.

Well WI cricket board is very poor so they can't afford the DRS if they have to pay for it, BCB is not so poor but they are not rich either like Bcci, CA or ECB and they would rather save the money for their personal use
