ঢাকা: বাংলাদেশ ক্রিকেট বোর্ড (বিসিবি) সভাপতি আ হ ম মোস্তফা কামালের ইচ্ছে একটি স্পোর্টস টিভি চ্যানেল খোলা। ব্যক্তিগত উদ্যোগে সম্ভব নয় দেখে বিসিবির মাধ্যমে চ্যানেলটি প্রতিষ্ঠার চেষ্টা করছেন তিনি। মঙ্গলবার বিসিবি কার্যনির্বাহী কমিটির সভায় সংসদ টিভির মতো বিসিবি টিভি করার প্রস্তাব করেন মোস্তফা কামাল।

সভায় উপস্থিত বিসিবি পরিচালকগণ সভাপতিকে সমর্থন দেন। বোর্ডের সবচেয়ে প্রভাবশালী পরিচালক দেওয়ান শফিউল আরেফিন টুটুল এবং টুটুলের ঘনিষ্ঠ হিসেবে পরিচিত চট্টগ্রাম থেকে নির্বাচিত ফোরামের আরেক পরিচালক সিরাজউদ্দিন আলমগীরকে দায়িত্ব দেওয়া হয় বিসিবি টিভির সম্ভাব্য প্রকল্প খতিয়ে দেখার।

পরিচালকদের ধারণা ৩০ কোটি টাকা হলেই আন্তর্জাতিক মানের একটি স্পোর্টস চ্যানেল প্রতিষ্ঠা করা সম্ভব। দেশের বেশ কয়েকটি বেসরকারী টিভি চ্যানেলের সঙ্গে কয়েকজন পরিচালক জড়িত থাকায় বিসিবি টিভি করার সাহস দেখাচ্ছে ক্রিকেট বোর্ড। বাস্তবতা হলো বেসরকারী টিভি চ্যানেল সীমিত প্রযুক্তি ব্যবহার করলেও আন্তর্জাতিক মানের একটি স্পোর্টস চ্যানেল প্রতিষ্ঠা যে ব্যয়বহুল, সে ধারণা অনেক পরিচালকেরই নেই।

খেলা ধারণ এবং সম্প্রচারের জন্য খুবই উন্নত মানের প্রযুক্তির দরকার হয়। এছাড়া একটি স্পোর্টস চ্যানেল চালানোর জন্য জনশক্তি আমদানী করতে হবে বিদেশ থেকে। প্রডাকশন বাজারজাত করারও বিষয় আছে।

যদিও বিসিবি পরিচালকরা আশাবাদী অল্প খরচেই চ্যানেল চালাতে পারবেন। বিসিবি গ্রাউন্ডস এন্ড ফ্যাসিলিটি কমিটির চেয়ারম্যান শফিকুর রমহান মুন্না বলেন,“যখন খেলা হবে তখন আমরা জনশক্তি ধার করবো। সার্বক্ষণিক লোক রাখার তো প্রয়োজন নেই।”

এদিকে সিরাজউদ্দিন আলমগীর অন্যভাবে ভাবছেন। তার চিন্তা হলো,“আমরা আন্তর্জাতিক মানের চ্যানেল করবো। স্থানীয় খেলা ছাড়াও বিদেশি খেলা দেখানো হবে। বিসিবি ফান্ড থেকে কোন টাকা খরচ হবে না। বরং আয় হবে। আমরা বিভিন্ন কোম্পানির সঙ্গে চুক্তি করবো যারা চ্যানেল চালাবে। আমাদের নিয়ন্ত্রণ থাকবে, আমরা যে ভাবে নির্দেশনা দিবো সেই ভাবে চ্যানেল চালাতে হবে।”

বিসিবি টিভি পরিচালকদের স্বপ্ন মাত্র। প্রকল্প পর্যবেক্ষণের পর খরচ দেখে পরবর্তী সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়া হবে। অতএব এখনই নিশ্চিত করে বলা যাচ্ছে না বিসিবি টিভি হচ্ছেই।

I find a negative tone from the writer here. But its not necessary that they have to live telecast with their own equipment from day one. And most of the matches or all of the matches they can buy the broadcast right through sponsor's money and broadcast without having to invest any money. Even 30 crore is too too high for establishing a channel. I think some one is grumbling about the high cost to make some money on th eproject. So if they can push the limit high they can earn a lot of money. All money making er dhanda, kajer kaj kichu hobe bole mone hochche na.

In a surprise move, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has decided to establish a television channel for exclusive cricket coverage. The decision was taken in the directors' meeting on Tuesday and a three-member committee headed by the media committee chairman Jalal Yunus has been formed to expedite the procedure. Dewan Shafiul Arefin and Sirajuddin Md Alamgir are the other two members of the committee.

“The BCB will start the process of establishing a television channel soon. It will only cover the cricket matches. I can't say anything right at the moment about why we have taken this decision. You have to wait for 2-3 days to know the exact reasons behind the venture,” said Yunus when asked about why BCB went for the venture.
Former national skipper turned board director Gazi Ashraf Hossain has been named chairman of the BPL (Bangladesh Premier League) committee, which had its first meeting yesterday.

BCB formed the new committee for the franchises-based T20 tournament like the money-spinning Indian Premier League (IPL) as vice president Ahmed Sajjadul Alam withdrew his name as chairman of the committee.

“We met today and took some decisions about the BPL. It will be a six-team tournament and is likely to be staged some-time in February next year. We will float a tender very soon to appoint an event management committee for the franchise-based tournament,” said committee chairman Gazi Ashraf.

Six divisional teams will be formed as franchises and take part in the competition which will be held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka and the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong. A stipulated number of international and Bangladeshi players will be put on auction for the tournament.

In Tuesday's meeting it has also been decided that the National Cricket League, the lone first-class competition in the country, will be an eight-team competition instead of six teams. The two new teams to be included are Rangpur and Dhaka Metropolis.
The draft of the regional cricket association concept has also been approved in principle in the meeting and board members have been asked to come up with observations, suggestions and recommendations within the next seven days.

Meanwhile, the board has approved the appointment of 39 assistant district coaches.

I dont like the pessimism on display here !! Its like a trend now to bash any ideas coming out from the BCB. Please give credit where credit is due. This is a fantastic idea !! It makes a lot of business sense and Lotus Kamal is the right person to implement this. People who are shouting that BCB might be doing this to make money then think again. LK made 1200 crore from the share market scam and has a very well set business empire. A measly 30 crore would not be something he would aim to skim from. For him getting the BCB role was more for the international exposure and the stature. I highly doubt making money was his agenda when he got into BCB. He has enough resources otherwise to make a lot more.

I applaud this idea and if implemented properly could solve our telecast issues. We will also be able to generate a lot of revenue from this channel.

This is gonna be Loitta private channel, in the banner head of BCB.
Just an efficient way of legalizing the hundreds of crores of taka that he has embezzled from the share market. For an already established business tycoon like LK, Tk 30 crore is like a pocket change.

Thing is, if he opens up a private channel, he could face prosecution/problem during next govt's tenure. But if its opened under BCB, the govt would think twice before doing anything, due to public sentiment and international reaction.

Let me get something straight first, how is 'BCB TV' going to help in the development of Bangladesh cricket?

Bangla e kotha ase, "Prochar ei Proshar" ! Covering local leagues, national team's game, training, practices, cricket related program such as training drills, technique improvement program etc, news, updates etc all will encourage young kids to follow the game more closely.

All the football clubs specially English clubs have got their own TV station. They cover their club's game, training, players profile etc. This surely attracts more viewers and more revenue too.
