This is the clip I took of the WC warm up against Canada. Both Shafiul and Rubel looked very dangerous here and Shafiul's swing was superb. Rubel had great control too.

I wanted to let the rest of the cricketing world know that Bangladesh bowlers CAN be good and I would invite you to share this clip with as many people as you can.
I feel that it is important to reflect on positives. I am convinced that if the Bangladesh fast bowlers can bowl like this again, they can beat most sides.
Please show some support of what was a great time for the quicks.

I think Coach Ian just wanted to just focus on the deliveries and not on the opposition. And I gotta say, they did bowl pretty well there. Shafiul and Rubel do have a lot of ability. They just need to be guided in the right direction.

I hope that the current bowling coach focuses on pace and spin both. We still have only one wicket-taking spinner, Shakib. Although Shafiul impressed me early, but he lacks in one important aspect, aggression. Truly feared fast bowlers hated the batsmen, whether it was Larwood, Lindwall, Truman, Thompson, Lillie, Roberts, Imran, Waqar, Wasim Akram, or any other great pacer. Rubel shows glimpses of this. I hope he spends time with Mashrafe. If injuries did not rob him, Mashrafe could have been a great fast bowler.

don't understand why we need to share this clip or why we need to show support?
Both Rubel & Shafi are very much in BCB's plane I bealieve, it's not like they are discarded, and as suporters we have faith in these two, Shafi just needs to improve his game.

I would have rather had a spin bowling coach and Jurgenson just focus on the pacers. I believe that would have things better for both departments. And ya I can see what you're saying about Shafiul. He doesn't seem to be the in your face type of bowler. Rubel definitely has aggression. Shahadat does as well.

Thanks for sharing the clip Ian; however there was nothing extraordinary or superhuman from the bowlers.
Slightly off topic, I was wondering if you could enlighten us on what exercises our stars do to increase reflex. I undrstand woods training is very interesting and could be included in the curriculum. In general how can a person improve one's reflexes?
(There was a Shane Warne moment when he took a caught n bowl in lightning reaction time in IPL almost off the ground)

No denial that both Rubel and Shafiul was doing good during Ian's tenure and both of them now look completely out of touch since Ian left.

This is the clip of Sir Moe Ash Matty up against England in England. Both he and JO (his batting partner) looked very dangerous here and Ash's swing with the bat was superb. Even JO hit boundaries too.

opposition matters. shafi didn't bowl like this when he was in front of shewag. when you know for sure that the opposition is weak it gives you a mental boost and vice versa.

Now we need proper guide to improve our first bowling. It's ok spinners do well when we play in our home. When we go out side to play we cann't do anything in bowling because of our toothless pacers.
Even minow Zimbabwe also showed us. Their 'Ordinary' vitorie got wickets but our pacers couldn't show their appearance. He is a ordinary bowler that has been proved against Pakistan & New Zealand.

The Reality: yes, they bowled good, we must remember this was a practice match, the boys had ultimately ZERO PRESSURE coming into the game. we must also remember that Against India, South Africa the boys were under tremendous pressure and expectations from crowd, fans. The boys knew that those were the matches that had a lot of sentimental value. Those were KEY GAMES! everybody feels the heat, the pressure in key matches. We also must remember these are only 20-22 year old boys, only from tense matches, from pressure matches they will LEARN, DEVELOP and GROW!

Getting ball swing and great control has nothing to do with weak opposition or so IMHO.
Why we are so prompt to criticize others?? Why not take a moment and appreciate the positives? :)

Actually, our boys bowled very well against England in the WC. Who can forget their performance against NZ. Having said that, it is not easy to bowl against IND or SA or AUS. They have batsmen who, on their days, can murder the likes of Steyn and Murali. Once they come out swinging, the bowlers will become defensive and falter, even the world class ones. Only bowlers of Imran's or Lillie's class can trump high-quality batting. But, we are not there yet---only Shakib is close. I have a lot of hope on Rubel and Nazmul. I hope that my hope will not be dashed.

Thanx for sharing the video coach :)
Few questions dear coach. What is the reason behind Shahadat's lack of pace now? We know that he can bowl lot faster than 120+ kph and you have admired his speed several times over here.
And also dont you think that the knowledge is nothing without application? You have taught them how to deliver butterfly, you have taught them how to control and bowl faster. We did see some glimpses here and there (Rubel vs NZ match, Shafiul against Ireland and also the video that you have provided, simply fabulous) but they were never consistent. Our captain couldnt even trust Shahadat for more than 5 overs that too in a test match.
I have no doubt that you are one of the finest out there and it was our loss that BCB didnt extend your contract to work with our boys. And we really do admire your passion for our cricket and based on your posts here in BC we know that they do have what it takes to be successful.
So could you kindly let us know whats holding them back? Proper training ( they had you, Ramanayeke, and now Jurgen), lack of mental strength or is it something else?
Thank You..

Great questions.
I can sum it up by saying that the players do not know HOW to be professional in their attitudes to cricket. What I mean by that is there are 5 areas of cricket that are important if you want to be a success: technical (your skill), tactical (how you apply your skill), physical (strength and conditioning), mental (how you cope under pressure) and lifetstyle (how you live your life).
If you look at world test number 1 team England, you will see they have all areas well-covered.
You simply have to ask, what parts of those 5 key areas are missing from the Bangladesh team and identify how to correct them.
It can ONLY happen if the PLAYERS are self-learners, self-starters, self-motivated and want to get the the top of the tree. Coaches are only there to facilitate and bring about the circumstances for change and improvement. The PLAYERS have to make those changes and improvements themselves.
The best coaches are exceptional man managers who are positive, upbeat and coaching skills every day. The best players are exceptionally motivated students who are realistic, learn fast and go out to be the best they can. I will leave it up to you decide whether that's what Bangladesh has.

Thanks coach for the video. They are assets for BD. Should be taken care of properly to benefit from.

If you are talking about reflexes while fielding (close range), then one of the most important thing I would say is honing on "concentration" for a second or two. I heard that from Sir Gary Sobers. The ability to focus at the very moment and then relax and have fun rest of the time till another ball is being bowled.
Our boys are pretty agile to begin with. Shuvo, Naeem, Rokibul, Nasir, Shak etc.; yet Junaid is the best slip catcher.
+++
So what are the methods of improving on split second concentration? May be a shortstop coaching (google/youtube) can answer that.
Let the boys play golf also. Hand-eye co-ordination plus concentration will be honed. Instead of PSP, chess?
