If Alok was moved down the order instead of Sujon and Hannan was opening alongside Bidyut. That would be a good team. Good luck BD!

Streak to Alok Kapali, one run, edged and wide! good delivery
outside the off stump, Kapali pushes at it and, ball takes the
edge and goes wide of the third slip

2.6 Streak to Shahriar Hossain, one run, good length delivery outside
the off stump, driven wide fo the cover fielder, was not timed
well and the fielder catches up, just the single

shahriar seems to be undity today. hope he gets rid of it and sets in

BD has historically scored a lotta runs against ZIM. 250 should be attainable today, especially with this team...rajin scores more in ODIs than tests, and i wanna see big scores from ash and mushfiq. this is our best chance to end our ODI streak.

3.5 Hondo to Alok Kapali, no run, dropped! wide outside the off stump,
Kapali once again plays away from his body and ends up hitting it
uplishly to the backward point region, was not an easy chance but
Ebrahim messes it up, Kapali survives

With three 4s and a 6, Rajin has scored 43 runs off 90 balls! This is one-day cricket, the number 4 batsman needs to do better than that. That too, against the weakest bowling line-up that we can hope to face!

Why do our batters allow so many dot balls? Can't someone just tell them to look for a few more singles and 2s?

Rubu
March 10, 2004, 04:41 AM

I think it is better not to be out after making 8 from 10 balls!! and also saleh is playing it when on the other end, bashar maintaing a good run rate. so its OK.

shaheen
March 10, 2004, 04:45 AM
Rajin had record of getting out on 40's couple of times. Will he be able to get it on 48 now

billah
March 10, 2004, 04:46 AM
15 overs left, 123/2. It'll be hard to reach 200 now.

Sham
March 10, 2004, 04:46 AM
is irritating me. He plays 3 balls and then takes a single. If he is not going to hit out, he can atleast give Bashar the majority of the strike. But no, even though he came in after Bashar, he has hogged more of the strike. This isn't good ODI batting. Its almost like he is supporting his partner in a Test match.

Rubu
March 10, 2004, 04:47 AM
we have to take the risk. if we can't get to 250+, there is no chance anyway. so they should try. and to do that they need to start hitting now!

Yes, its better than making 8 off 10 balls, but its not as good as scoring 40 off 60 or 70 instead of 90.

We are playing Zimbabwe, and we will struggle to get to 220 in this match. Instead of comparing Rajin's performance to those who failed, we really ought to set a higher benchmark for our batsmen.

shaheen
March 10, 2004, 04:51 AM

I hope he does exactly what he is sent out to do and has a mighty whack at everything. I hate it when pinchers try to go out there, play themselves in and try to build and innings. He better try to maintain a run a ball or higher strike rate.

billah
March 10, 2004, 04:54 AM
Rafique, isn't this out of order?

shaheen
March 10, 2004, 04:55 AM

billah

Even Mushfiq is better in stealing singles

shaheen
March 10, 2004, 04:59 AM
12 overs left we need about 85~100 runs

Is it possible now?

Sham
March 10, 2004, 04:59 AM
come on man! No one cares if you get out.

Watching BD play ODIs is too frustrating. We have no idea how to put up a score in 50 overs. We can't make use of the fielding restrictions, we dont get enough singles in the middle overs, and we are too far behind to do anything by the time the slog overs come around. Sigh!

billah
March 10, 2004, 05:01 AM
Rafique IS wasting deliveries.

Hasan

what is rafiq doing? just hit and out. get 18 in 3 balls and then out on the next one. this is what we need now.

billah
March 10, 2004, 05:02 AM
He wasn't sent in ahead of bona-fide batters to do this!

Sham
March 10, 2004, 05:04 AM

We need not be so hursh now. Just let Ashraful settle one or two overs then he will be able to use one loose ball from each over at least
Thus we can keep the momentum up!

Otherwise we may fall down before 50 overs!
Everyone knows about BD's style!
If top orders doing good then tail enders will do the balance i.e .....................:fanflag::fanflag::fanflag::f anflag::fanflag:

We are now trying to maintain our run of getting bowled out inside 50 overs.

I don't know what is cooking in Dav's head but it stinks! The entire approach was wrong today starting with team selection to batting order to the way our baters went about it to the Rafiq misadventure.

Ash should have opened and Kapali should have played down the order. Playing Ash at 5 is a waste. We should have brought Tushar in from Dhaka for the ODI series, and played him at 4. Ash, Bidyut, Bashar, Tushar, Alok, Rana, Mushifq, Pilot, Rafiq, Tapash and Aziz. That should be our ODI team!

42.6 Hondo to Mohammad Ashraful, FOUR, shot! moves forward takes it on

ash has a purpose of coming down the order!

Sham

We wasted him! Imagine what 20 more overs of him could have done to our score!

crickipagol

i dont know about a win because

The pitch appeared to be damp, which should help his seamers in the initial overs, but the expectation was that the sun would dry it out, making batting easier as the game wore on.

http://usa.cricinfo.com/db/ARCHIVE/CRICKET_NEWS/2004/MAR/090009_ZIMBDESH2003-04_10MAR2004.html

but the good thing is it is a fighting score and for onnce we played 50 over with i think the first 90 runs in the last 9 overs

Sham
March 10, 2004, 06:03 AM
This is definitely BD's best slog over performance. A pretty good score in the end!

We can defend 238, but it all depends on early wickets. With wickets in hand, Zimbabwe can also score 8-10 runs an over at the end. So the key is to take early wickets and put them under pressure.

Even if they are on target in the first 15 overs, if we can take 3 or 4 wickets, we can grind them down in the middle overs and put pressure. However, if they get off to a slow but solid start in the first 15, its going t be tough.

Emad03
March 10, 2004, 06:05 AM
the thing with rajin wasting the balls is to make sure that no wickets fall.Good game planing.Ash was sent late to hit thats why they sent rafique ahead .My thought

I think Shahryar disappointed all of us by wasting 23 balls for his 2. Alok, although not at his pick can still claim a place in the team. But I feel he should not open. If thre is a problem, let Ashraful open with Shahryar (Ashraful has experience of opening before), or even Rafuque can open, even if it is a radical step. I feel Aok can play his natural game at no.6.

that could be the difference at the end!

As for Rajin, he did a good job of rebuilding after the two wickets went down but he should have accelerated at some point. 75 dot balls in an ODI innings is terrible. Thats 12.3 maiden overs that Rajin played out!
