View Full Version : The Rain is Back ... ...

it just rained heavily for half an hour here in MIrpur. the rain is significant enough to make significant influence in the remaining games.

so far we have made tons of combinations on what can happen in the remaining games and how BD can go to the final. but in most cases we were considering wins or wins with bonus points.

well, time to bring rain and Duckworth-lewis into equation. now a rain washout or a shortened game can be a possibility which may be good or bad for us. also rain will have some influence on the conditions.

the asia cup so far has been exciting. the rain is back in Dhaka city to make it more exciting or may be take some excitement away

India will then have one win and a wash out. We will still need to beat Sri Lanka.

In most circumstances we have to beat SL to get to the finals. As long as Ind don't have bonus points we should not worry with that game at all.

Nothing serious guys, Mirpur has an outstanding drainage system.
Also it was just a seasonal Kal-boishakhi!!! It won't happen every night and might not happen in a week also.

I dont think the occasional rain can hurt the drainage system of SBNS

And FYI people, the margin of defeat is important. We want Pak to beat Ind and us to win SL. Hopefully, India will be beaten badly so that even if we lose to SL by small margin we can qualify. If India win by big margin that we are in trouble

Hopefully pakistan will win

drainaige at Mirpure is top notch...plus all games have a reserve day. so there should at least be a DL result regardless of what happens.

Nothing serious to be honest.
Might rain a bit tomorrow at around 1100 and 1400, according to my AccuWeather on iphone, but dont think it will impose any serious threat to the match.

I am so excited as it rained, the bowling pitch should favour the Pakistani Bowlers. It must be a cracking match tommorrow if the pitch gets effected by the rain. I really hope so.

Bangladesh's stunning turnaround has given tomorrow's clash greater context. However, a downpour at the Shere Bangla Stadium the day before the game means the groundstaff will have to work to ensure the match goes ahead as scheduled. Should weather intervene, there is a reserve day on Monday.

Plus, except for the 1 mm at 11 am, the ground staff will have the whole day to prep.

On an unrelated note, I have to say that this is one of the things I love about cricket as a sport. In the modern age, most other sports try to neutralize the effect of the weather as much as possible, largely due to commercial reasons but cricket (especially test cricket) always has that touch of unpredictability due to the vagaries of the weather - damp outfields harmful for spinners and boundary scoring, grasstop wickets and cloudy overhead conditions conducive to swinging, etc etc. Then there's the question of the Duckworth-Lewis system as well. So many factors come into play. It's such a cerebral sport :)
