DRS Has been opted in (http://www.espncricinfo.com/sri-lanka-v-england-2012/content/story/557166.html)
and the first FC match sees England win big (http://www.espncricinfo.com/sri-lanka-v-england-2012/content/story/557694.html) with Monty outplaying Swann 6 wickets to 3 (http://www.espncricinfo.com/sri-lanka-v-england-2012/content/story/557825.html)
However, not without a flareup (http://gulfnews.com/sport/cricket/convincing-england-victory-marred-by-ugly-confrontation-1.996521)

You might say it was a loss of cool.

 Mahela.....what an innings....let's see how England does in this innings....

March 27, 2012, 04:09 AM
Herath got 6 - wow! England needs to take a flight go north for a bit and then go east and come to Bangladesh for some batting practice ;). SL is leaking runs at the mo to the, other than that this match is theirs to lose!

Well done to Mahela.

March 27, 2012, 04:47 AM
Oh Dilshan!!!

March 27, 2012, 04:48 AM
CI -

"At this rate, Bangladesh would probably prove too big a challenge to England. After all, they have an impressive SLA pair in Razzak and Shakib." Ouch, CSB

Thank you ... my point is proven :)

March 27, 2012, 05:27 AM
Oh dear... they are dropping like flies. The pitch seems to be impossible to bat on! A lead of 200 will be difficult for England.

March 27, 2012, 06:07 AM
England should come to play to :flag: this time....dekhaye ditam :D

March 27, 2012, 07:01 AM
I am not sure who is the worse of the two - Eng or SL. Pretty equal at the mo but I would blame on the pitch. SL possibly will have 250 runs of lead which may be just enough to win the match.

March 27, 2012, 10:22 AM
Herath took 6 for 74 in 19.
Herath now our No. 1 - Jayawardene (http://www.espncricinfo.com/sri-lanka-v-england-2012/content/story/558979.html)
In reply Swann took 4 for 28 in 12. And there is still 5 batsmen to come.
And this guy has some elevation!!!!!!!!!!

Any one want to take a gander at a wager? (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/cricket/17539482)
CI (http://www.espncricinfo.com/sri-lanka-v-england-2012/content/current/story/559117.html)

I guess it is West vs East. Balanced reporting from BD papers and West heaviness from CI and BBC. The realistic vs the idealistic.

March 28, 2012, 10:15 PM
You know that guy who follows SL all over the world, he has a hump on his back. I met him in Dhaka a while back when SL came to play a test match. Cool guy, showed me all the pictures he took all over the world. He had a friend too and the two always traveled together. Yesterday on TV I only saw that one guy. I wonder where the other guy is.

I think it was in 2009 January. Yes it was.

One day I would like to meet with him again.

I loved the cat and mouse game between Strauss and Prasanna Jayawardena yesterday. Broad thought he got the last wicket - but a no ball. And the tailed wagged in glee. Here is CI on this. no ball happened at a lead of 292, eventually they lost the last wicket at 339! Then PJ played masterfully with the tail!

No-ball of the day
The lead was already 293 - very healthy but still below the psychological 300-mark - when Prasanna Jayawardene top-edged a pull which looped back to Stuart Broad who took the return catch easily. All the players were making their way off, but umpire Rod Tucker wanted to check the front line and replays showed Broad had overstepped by a long way - his eighth no-ball of the match. Jayawardene had a life and made England pay.

Wagging of the day
England have a very productive lower order - and it played its part again in the first innings - but they have also been on the receiving end. In the first innings the last two wickets added 65 and this time it amounted to a spirit-crushing 87. For Jayawardene to score runs is one thing, but to see Chanaka Welegedera and Suranga Lakmal make 26 from 82 deliveries between them will have really hurt.

March 29, 2012, 04:23 AM
That is now tea and the comeback from Sri Lanka has probably won them the game, 81 runs from victory and just Anderson and Panesar to come for England. Swann had to contribute at least a 20 for England to get closer but now it is a long shot once more...see you in 15 minutes...
Herath to Swann, OUT, down for the sweep, missed and given out, referred, England's last and umpire's call on clipping the top of the bails that really is a crucial strike

Come on SL :fire:

March 29, 2012, 04:39 AM
sl wins .....................
reality won

March 29, 2012, 04:40 AM
At some point it was England to lose! Now SriLanka done it in style. This game gives BD hope a home test win in near future.

March 29, 2012, 04:41 AM
YAY!! Won by 75 runs...congrats to SL....look at the form they were in during Asia Cup and see how they have turned it back (well....mostly due to Mahela/herath) but still kudos to them...wish we could have played a series...:(
look at the form the tigers are in now...all of them are getting runs/wickets in DPL....but no series, whereas SL is playing too much.....
Oh ICC....oh FTP :(

March 29, 2012, 10:48 AM
#1 Test team...lol..0-4 now and in a row!

March 29, 2012, 10:58 AM
Don't forget Prasanna - batted out of his skin. And Dilshan for some awesome match turning catches.

March 29, 2012, 11:44 AM
I love it! Go Srilanka! England was jumping up and down as if they conquered the world after beating India 4-0 at home, and now getting whopped in Sub Continent.

Will we ever see a team as dominant as that Australian team was? There are plenty of good test team right now, but they seem to kick a$$ at home and than complete opposite when playing away test match.

March 29, 2012, 05:26 PM
South Africa may be a good contender, but I haven't seen them play in the subcontinent for a while, or I've just noticed (don't follow them much). Australia as well, if they get their shape back together.

March 29, 2012, 05:57 PM
^Saw SA in 2010 in India. The series was drawn and SA held their own well. After that series India became #1.

March 29, 2012, 06:19 PM
From this article here, I would definitely say that South Africa deserve to be #1.

Seeing the Telegraph ... I have come to the conclusion that almost all reporters are the same. Please note almost.
They can be full of adulation or venom.

Bangladesh, as is wont, are much less venomous, but some are just one sided.

I have also noticed that newspapers have a favorite player, and they can do no wrong - and the facts can be bent a bit to make the same facts sing a different song. Dangerous sport this - playing with public opinion. I wonder how many people have taken the ethics course in Journalism in Bangladesh.
I wonder how many journalists have a journalism degree.

But hey there is room for everyone. In the words of the great Rodney King (tongue in cheek)

I agree with CI, Jayawardane never got the respect he deserved for 10,000+ runs and 30+ Test centuries. So what he scored most of them at home? Ponting has 23 home centuries and SL plays a lot of their matches at home. Plus, I don't think I've ever seen them feature in 5 test match series abroad like India, Australia, England do. Thus, fewer opportunities to get into a groove and score lots of runs.

The match as it stands:

Pietersen warned on switch-hit

April 5, 2012, 10:50 AM
The Switch Issue (http://www.espncricinfo.com/sri-lanka-v-england-2012/content/current/story/559931.html).

Although, I love watching KP and now Warner play that shot, I think it's a bit unfair for the bowlers. But this new rule makes sense. The batsmen have to wait until the ball is bowled. Then they can do w/e they want. Otherwise, bowlers should be able to switch their hands too.

And then this:

Andy Flower, the England team director, immediately went to the match referee's room for clarification over the issue, his second visit of the match following his questioning of a review against Thilan Samaraweera on the first day. The ball after the official warning, Pietersen reverse-swept again and brought up his hundred. He went on to make 151 from 165 balls as England pushed for their first victory of the winter.

Remember JS? He got fined for that. Will Flower?

April 5, 2012, 11:38 AM
this was Flower's 2nd visit in this test.

April 5, 2012, 01:03 PM
So what do you think Dilscoop, win lose or draw? Eng?

April 6, 2012, 12:47 PM
Yesterday's last minute hero:
4/82 http://p.imgci.com/db/PICTURES/CMS/144300/144368.3.jpg

and need Major Heroics tomorrow from:

Match State:
Sri Lanka 275 & 218/6 (91.0 ov)
England 460
Sri Lanka lead by 33 runs with 4 wickets remaining
5th day pitch
4 wickets in hand
90 overs left
Can SL score 150 more runs until Tea?
I am hoping.

April 6, 2012, 12:58 PM
I'd love to see M. Jayawardane making another century. He is positively Bradmanesque in Sri Lanka. As you said Zsayeed bhai, I hope Mathews and P. Jayawardane give him adequate support.

April 6, 2012, 01:03 PM
Lady Jaya is having one hell of a series here! Hope he can save this match.

April 6, 2012, 01:27 PM
Here is a nice interview with Samaraweera after the day's work.

I am trying to gather hope :). Thanks Bhai.

Mahela, Mathews and Prasanna are all right handers. I am hoping they will cope better the Swan off-breaks. Does that sound reasonable? Anderson they just have to fend off. That guy is on fire. Then there is Finn and Bresnan.

Ki kori ... ki kori...Moha Jontrona...
Moment of truth tonight for me.

April 7, 2012, 12:40 AM
Swann is making the ball spin like a top!! Even on spin conducive pitches, it's rare to see a finger spinner get this much turn and bounce. Would love to see Shakib do the same in SL.

What's incredible is that SL have been batting since the end of the 3rd day. Amazing to see how long this continues.

April 7, 2012, 01:17 AM
Haha, the Barmy Army trumpeter just played Kolaveri D xD

April 7, 2012, 11:53 AM
Well, my heart was with SL. But the way their top order imploded in this series, in all 4 batting innings, (except MoS Mahela) they should learn a few things to make them stronger.

Better effort next time guys!

April 7, 2012, 12:13 PM
Yeah, with their current bowling attack (which, taking all things into consideration, is probably as bad as ours) they need Dilshan, Sangakarra and Jayawardane to fire simultaneously, all the time. To win they need to bat other sides out completely - a lot like the Indian side sans Zaheer Khan and an in-form Bhajji
