Captain's plea to fans

"Dear Bangladesh fans, it came to my notice that after the Asia Cup final a fan took his life and another died of shock. The incidents are very sad for us. On behalf of my team, I appeal to all the fans: this is only a game and everyone should take it in that way and enjoy the game. We never want to lose but not always can we win. My team and I would like to pass on our condolences to the families who lost their dear ones. Another unfortunate thing is there have been attacks on the homes of two of our players, Shahadat Hossain and Nazimuddin. I earnestly request our fans to refrain from such activities. No one loses on purpose."

Ya I feel really bad for Shahadat and Nazimuddin. These acts are just wrong. Just because they didn't perform well, doesn't mean you have a right to go and attack these players homes.

Great Response and gesture from Mushfiqur Rahim.. it is great to hear that at the end of the day, coming from the mouth of a Professional Cricketer: this is only a game and everyone should take it in that way and enjoy the game.

May Allah grant people some common sense. Ameen! Their families didn't do anything! Why involve innocent people in this...

One of my best friends(He is Bengali too): Hates cricket from the bottom of my heart. He told me that Cricket takes you away from the remembrance of Allah! Cricket creates a lot of trial in our society for Example people killing each other for a World Cup ticket. People dying of heart attacks...I responded my friend, look. I watch cricket only for fun, when it is time for me to pray, I pray...the only things i sacrifice Cricket for is schoolwork :-p...other than that whenever my parents need me, My family needs me to do errands for them whenever Bangladesh is batting, i stop watching cricket. He replied back to me: yes, that is just you...but the rest of the Bangladeshi society are not sensible cricket fans like you....they take their fanaticism to a different level.

Heart attack understandable but taking your own life? Sorry but am not going to feel any sympathy for that kind of moronic behaviour over a single CRICKET MATCH.

So now we have no respect towards our players as human beings? What's the point on stoning/attacking one's house? Not like that will make them play any better, infact it will just put more pressure on them.

ive already talked about the attack and I know it was disgraceful

But I still dont understand what was that stupid young guy thinking when he sucided? Its the end of his life, if he really was passionate about the team, he wud still support the team no matter what just like us.

Our religion says that sucide is haram, and everyone shouldnt even think of doing it. Unacceptable

i think much of the blame also has to go to media and the fanatics who make losing in cricket out to be national shame and other rubbish like that and act as if losing in cricket is matter of life and death.. this mentality is only in subcontinent.. and also partly because they r not good at other sports except cricket. End of the day its just a sport and source of entertainment.

If it is true that cricketers' or their homes have been attacked it is utterly silly and outrageous. Unfortunately this type of incident takes place in India and Pakistan too.

I am happy to say that in Sri Lanka this does not happen. Even after losing all three games at the Asia Cup and finishing rock bottom, our crickets have come back here and they go about without any problems. They are much respected generally, as players.

This is only a game and though emotions could run high during an Asia Cup final they should not turn sour.

No one has the right to "force" a cricketer not to fail !

They took all the pressure out there and wanted to do they best. Now they should be left in peace.

Doesn't come as a surprise. Always thought we were as bad as if not worse than some of the Indian/Pakistani fans who stone players' houses, attack their families and burn effigies - all that was needed to uncover our real faces was for the team to perform and raise expectations.

Yes we do have a fan base that never gets tired consuming cricket and probably the best crowd in world cricket but fans as a whole lost my respect during the WC west indies incident. We tried to play it down saying it it came as a shock Bangladesh under performing hence resulting such a behavior and vowed it will never happen again. Its becoming a phenomena now. After that WC incident, the umpires were attacked, Shakibs house was stoned and now this.

After all subcontinent blood runs in out veins too, how different can we be ?

I think that the education system can shape people's behavior a lot. The restraint shown by Sri Lankans is a testament to the excellent SL education system.

I have no sympathy for anyone who attempts or commit suicide, but my commiseration to his family who I am sure had no idea about it.

I am deeply saddened by the guy who had an heart attack at Poncho Gor. My thoughts are with him and his family.

Beautiful! Oh....tofa tofa.

I love the lack of capitalization to accentuate the non-chant tone. Also, each word is followed by a question mark, thus it can be broken down into two stanzas:

what?
seriously? 'Seriously' further alludes to McEnroe and Ledger all at once. The usage of the word 'what?' implies a journalistic mind who is inquisitive to ponder about the four w's: what, where, when, why.

Also how 15 characters have been used, but it contains the primal questions of mankind: What?

Good job lamz. You hit a homerun. :notworthy:

One guy killed another guy over an argentina and brazil fight not to mention an argentinian supporter jumped off the roof as far as I recall in the last football world cup-so not really surprised this happened in bangladesh. I agree with rifat what he said and the others such as playmaker that it is haram for anyone to do this. People get too worked up in BD over small issues and leave the big issues behind which is why we get the scuffles and strange scenes we do whether it's politicians, general people, biyer dawat ("tui amar medium rare roast ta cano dhorli, onno shob roast to medium common") etc etc. Then starts the food fight and if there's dahl there's "Gaye holud"

It's pretty embarassing actually when you see older people acting like 2 year olds, they could learn a lot form the "Charlie bit me" video on youtube. Absolute genius, the elder brother takes everything in his stride, handles his laughing, biting brother quite well. As a race we're quite impatient
