If server is down

Dear All

Most of you are aware of our server issues. With all those ongoing excitement, we are anticipating high forum activities during match times. In the unfortunate event, if the server goes down, we want our members to be informed and have some continuety at all times. We set up a stepwise protocol for this. Please follow this in case banglacricket is not available or reachable online for any reason.

The following page will be up all the time and will work as a notice board. It will be updated as needed.

Link 2: Chat Room: Log on to IRC Channel #banglacricket on starlink (Nasif or someone else please post step by step instructions)

Link 3: Back up Forum One: www.kobitaogaan.com There is forum in this site for you to post.

Link 4: Back up Forum Two: http://groups.msn.com/BanglaCricketatMSN


Please bookmark or write down those four links now. Hopefully we do not have to go through all those troubles, but hey always a good idea to be prepared.

Note: if for any reason, link 1 is not available, please try index2.html and index3.html for that url.

IRC Help:
If server is down you can log onto BanglaCricket channel from the following link:
Java IRC Client (http://www.iit.edu/~edrisha/jpilot/jpilot.htm)
On the above site you will need to fill out the following information:
Nick Name: Your nick
Channel: #banglacricket
Server Name: 195.157.47.17
Port: 6669

Then click on "Connect Now!". You should be able to log on. For server name you can use any other that is specified at bottom of this post.

IRC Client Program:
If java doesn't work for you or you are unable to connect, then you can use a stand alone IRC client program to connect. Pleae download the following program:
http://www.mirc.com/get.html

Install it and start the program. Cancel out any of the option or conifg window. Then type the following on the bottom text panel:
/server 195.157.47.17 6669
Press enter and you should see log on text. Once logged on type the following command:
/join #banglacricket

You can use other server names given below.

Server1: CricInfo.LO.UK.Starlink.Org
Server2: CricInfo2.LO.UK.Starlink.Org
Server3: WichitaFalls.TX.US.StarLink.Org
Server4: Chicago.IL.US.StarLink.Org
Server5: Columbus.OH.US.StarLink.Org
Port: 6669

After connecting to anyone of the above servers you can join #banglacricket room.

It will take you to the same server.

It is my experience that irc.starlink.org (didn't try the irc.cricket.org though) DNS doesn't work all the time. It didn't work few minuites ago when I tried. I wanted to post 100% failsafe method, that's why the IP address is handy :)

if the server is not down we can see this info and therefore many of us will not copy this info to somewhere else i'm sure. so, to all, remember that if this server is down u'll not be able to click on these links. make sure u'll have a link to click when this is down. hopefully nothing will happen.
