Very good news indeed. BCB can do many good things for Bangladesh cricket with this money - only they need now a good will.

Hope BCB will do the right thing this time :)

How come Sahara got both the team and clothing sponsorship? AFAIK they didn't bid for the clothing rights. It would look odd when we will have Sahara written all over our jersey!

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has taken an initiative to reward the 1999 ICC trophy winning Bangladesh Cricket team members.

Each member of that team will get 5 Lakh BDT each.

Bangladesh cricket actually took a new turn from that ICC trophy win and to honour the contribution of those cricketers, this prize-money will be given.

Isn't 5 lac taka too little? Considering how rich BCB is now I'm sure they can afford to be a little more generous, nonetheless good initiative!

‘Sahara submitted their bids in the name of Aamby Valley, so the sponsorships have been awarded to them. Until they change the name, the logo of Aamby Valley will now be used on Tigers shirt,’ said Rabeed Imam, media and communications manager of the BCB.

Giving more than 5 lac PER player may be seen as wasteful. That's 55 lac for the team and more if they include the whole squad.

only 5 lakh ? At least 20 lakh would have been nice since BCB makes a lot of money this days :D

Good gesture, but this. It's fine if you have a great FC system and all that, but your priority should be developent of cricket in BD.

We won the 1997 ICC Trophy not the 1999 one. We played in the 1999 World Cup for the first time because of that. Do these writers check their information? Khali gool mare andazi.

Since we have adequate money flow, BCB should convince Australia, England, South Africa etc cricket board to tour their country to play their board XI. That will definitely help our boys to gain experience and get exposure to different conditions. Come on uncles, look at the bigger picture. That will give u endless opportunity to steal massive
money :P
