Thanks to RSA and Shipon bhai for uploading and sharing with us.

- Really impressed with Riyad's shot making

- Zia's most of the scoring shots were slog sweep which seems his strong point, however i don't like playing slog sweep at every ball. He played 2 massive sixes off side and i want him to play more of that shots.

At 5.15 on the video sunny played a peach of a delivery. More of that and this guy will certainly be classed as one of the greats in Bdesh after few more years. Shakib played some nice orthodox strokes, but bowling was poor. Zia's very strong on the slog sweep, (down on one knee stroke), but needs to work on his off side game otherwise he'll be worked out by class bowlers in world t20.

Thanks for upload mo bhi. Been waiting for this for time.

July 19, 2012, 11:32 AM
Zia does pack some power - look at his lack of follow through as he stands his ground to play his shot whilst the others have to come down the wicket and have a full swing at it. Also good to see Mahmudullah has learned to improvise - a couple of those shots were manufactured off not so bad balls.

And the Irish are absolutely clueless against spin. I'm sure we knew that, but seeing it again just reminded me how bad it was. Not the slightest ability to follow the flight.

I wonder if the Irish will have him figured out by the next game, let alone better bowlers in the world cup.

Look at Ire celebrate wickets, and look at BD. They celebrated like they just picked up couple of Canadian wickets. Obviously they are more chilled than we are, just wanna get some practice in before the main event. While we'll get hang up on things, spe if we win it 5-0 and choke in the main event, as always.

Thanks MoC. A few observations:
a. I'm not still convinced that Ashraful should be in the T20 side. Sure, he has sort of earned his spot for T20 world cup XI - but regardless I guess there ought to be better options than him. He might prove me wrong.
b. Got a good look at Zia - looks like a good power hitter - Andre Russell type player - which is great obviously.
c. Good to see Shak in form with the bat, looks like he's putting in more effort for his batting - which is understandable. He's bloody good with the pull shot - which is great to see and is a sign of a quality player.

As far as shakib's batting, it seems the Irish didn't do any home work on him. Everyone knows he's weakness just outside off stuff specially the rising deliveries. Instead of bowling from around the wicket and moving the ball away from him they were feeding deliveries from over the wicket on the leg.

True, I wouldn't call "weakness" - although the best way to get him out is to get him drive, short of a length outside off stump (outswingers, preferably) - but then that's the basic line you have stick against any batsmen. Bowling short to Shak with that pace, and you'll get owned.

I wouldn't say getting him to drive is the best way to get him out but getting him to cut close to his body is.

He might get out to cut shots, but he does play cut shots so well and it's usually fairly productive for him. And he doesn't always cut those deliveries either to be fair.

In batting, your strength can turn out to be your weakness as well. Cut is Shakib's bread and butter shot and more often than not batsmen get out playing their favorite shot as they instintively play that shot without judging the merit of the ball.

Editing takes a lot of time. Original clip was 55+ minutes long. I managed to cut it to 36 in one go. If I had another go may be I could have made it to 15. Another thing is, I used to use CI commentary to check when is boundary, good shot and wicket fall and so on. But it was not available for this match.

YT is banned in Bangladesh? You're kidding?

Yes unfortunately. Can someone from Bangladesh confirm.

Yes, it's true. However, it seems that quite a few people are finding ways around the ban.

Thanks for the latest video MoC bhai! Don't know what we would do without your (and Shakibrulz's) initiative in editing and uploading videos
