We need to send them abroad for some serious spin coaching.

we sure as hell could do that. but will they be as good as rafique, or enamul jr.?

they're not specialist spinners after all.

they made the team as bowlers. Although they may never become Jr. or Rafik, they should become good enough to bowl in every game.

Having said that they can only make the team as batsmen, I think.

Batsmen who can bowl useful overs are handy. Sri-lankan teams are full of them (batsman-spinner). If Kaps and Ash put little effort on their bowling, as they both are leggie, we could have good variation in our bowling department alng with Rafiq ans Masri.

yeap i think so too. because if sometimes the main bowlers fail then we should always have some bolers handy in the team. and i think kapali and ash should also concentrate in their bowling beside their batting. and also i think rajin can also concentrate on his boling beside his batting. this way we can have 3 spinners handy.

Isnt it strange that all three came in as bowlers? What does this mean? Our batsmen are so unreliable that bowlers have to do the job?

when i say this
ash alok and rana
i definately thought that it was somehing to do with middle order batting. spin! funny. interesting! and yeah good too. but, isn't it true for everything? good coaching?

One thing I would like to point out here: Rana was not picked as a bowler at all. He did very well in the practice match against England, scored 47 runs coming in at number 7, when the whole team scored 161. In the first ODI, he scored a valuable 18 at number 7 spot, the team was all out for 143. He got 2 & 1 wickets in these 2 games. But you see, he was already selected to play with the big boys even before these 2 matches. He was picked based on his performance in the local league in the previous season. His batting average was 48.75 then! Yes he also took 27 first class and 18 ODI wickets. But, his batting ability was already showing through. In Namibia and Zimbabwe, he definitely bowled well, but he shined with the bat. He did good every chance he got.

To think Rana was picked for his bowling is simply incorrect, in my opinion. Here is a link to an article with some information on him. Enjoy.

Watch your back Pagol-Chagol, Rafique from the national team might get mad, and verbally abuse you. There is no one batter than Rafique to coach our aspiring spinners.

We can use all the penetrating and containing bowler we can get. Mushtaque, Border, Chappel (Greg) were all competent tweakers of the ball.

Rafique should definitely be our bowling coach - No doubt about that.

March 19, 2004, 08:33 PM
well definitely rafique can be our spinning coach. but that is after he stops playing. and now he is just a player. so akhon or pokkhe amar mone hoi na coaching korano thik hobe. because he needs time for himself. the maximum he can do is give tips. but i dont think he can be a full time coach right now.
